Killin' It (Budget Mono-Black Aggro)

Standard Aggro BR (Rakdos) Budget Mono-Black

Alvklez

Sideboard

Recently, black has gotten some good aggro creatures, some that can rival the white/red weenies that populate the older sets.

There is somewhat of a devotion sub-theme for this deck, with my one Grey Merchant of Asphodel, but this deck is mostly aggro and you should win by getting damage in.

One-Drops

Rakdos Cackler is an auto-include in any red or black aggro deck. His power is good for damage and his toughness is good for shirking off a bit of damage.

Gnarled Scarhide can be bestowed or played as a 2/1, pretty good if you ask me.

Tormented Hero is a target for my bestow creatures and the enchantment in my sideboard.

Two-Drops

Rakdos Shred-Freak is there for the two haste damage and the devotion later game. Can easily be replaced with a certain enchantment in my sideboard of the same cmc.

Thrill-Kill Assassin can be a blocker in a pinch or an attacker who gets through nearly every time. Try this one on for size, Sylvan Caryatid.

Spiteful Returned is beautiful because it or it's bestowed creature doesn't even have to land a hit for the 2 life to be taken.

Three-Drops

Mogis's Marauder is my trump card. He can allow my guys to swing through massive armies, and also be another 2 damage out of their life total.

Herald of Torment is an evasive 3/3 flier with a very minor downside. He can be bestowed if the game is still going on by turn 5.

Reaver

Liliana's Reaver instead of Desecration Demon so that I can get in damage each turn without having someone easily tap it down. The discard effect is nice as well.

Gary

Gray Merchant of Asphodel to get myself back in the game after taking a beating or push in that last bit of damage needed to win.

I will be running this deck at my next FNM, so be waiting for the results.

Earliest I've actually killed someone on the play

T1: Swamp, Tormented Hero

T2: Swamp, Tormented Hero, Gnarled Scarhide, Take 2

T3: Swamp, Rakdos Cackler, Rakdos Shred-Freak, Take 8

T4: Mogis's Marauder, Take 12

Granted, my opponent did basically nothing for all of those turns, only putting out Codex Shredder and Golgari Keyrune the entire game (not counting lands).
