This deck started off not too long ago as a janky red deck wins. Relatively budget aside from a playset of Simian Spirit Guides. It has come a long way through the guidance of many of my friends, and has worked its way into my heart.
I do not have a lot of money to my name, and certainly not a lot of money for magic. All of the super expensive decks on my page are just theoreticals that, if i was a millionaire, i would own. The reason that Kiln Fiend was in the deck to begin with was because i could not afford Goblin Guide. I actually sold alot of my collection to afford this.
The Rundown
So, the biggest difference between this deck and traditional Naya Burn is that the win-line is totally less linear. Traditional burn aims to just wreck face. This deck does that, and hones a board full of large creatures to worry about as well.
Creature Choices
Honestly, if I could afford it, I don't think I would play Goblin Guide in this deck. Yes, he is an early bruiser, but he doesn't benefit from pump, and granting card advantage is not really my forte.
Kiln Fiend: The star of the deck. He benefits from burn spells being thrown left and right, and can easily get to be huge quickly. He keeps my opponent needing to worry about keeping mana untapped for removal or counterspells, and constantly provides consistent pressure.
Monastery Swiftspear: lets be honest, this card is really broken in burn. It is a 1/2 one drop with haste and prowess. Constantly getting big, and forcing pressure. Really helps to facilitate an early win.
Vexing Devil: this card is soooooo good in this deck. If they kill him, they take an intant 4 damage, which will really hurt them in the near future. If they choose to let him stay, he can be pumped to high heaven and really wreck.
Wild Nacatl. There is no denying that this card is super good. Turn 1: Stomping ground, nacatl. Turn 2 sacred foundry, titans strength, lightning bolt thier face, they take 9 damage. Such a good card, and it is better than Delver of Secrets
in my opinion.
Notable Spells
Boros Charm: Multi functional here. 4 to the face, protects my board state from mass removal, or can send in a 14+ power kiln fiend with double strike. So good.
Atarka's Command: multi functional as well. Gives my creatures reach to protect from a swarm of Lingering Souls. Lets me have land ramp to facilitate multiple pump/burn spells per turn. Throws 3 to the opponents face, or just keeps them from gaining life. Take that Soul Sisters lol.
Titan's Strength
: huge pump at instant speed and a scry? So good as well.
Piloting the Deck
I CANNOT stress this enough: DECLARE ATTACKERS AND WAIT FOR BLOCKERS BEFORE CASTING PUMP SPELLS. Dear God! I have run into this problem so many times and have always regretted it. Please just do it.
Always take your time calculating each move, but make sure to win fast. This deck doesn't murder itself through Eidolon of the Great Revel, but that doesn't mean that it can grind. If a gane goes to turn 7, you lose, believe me. Take your time calculating when to deal damage, and the most you can do on any given turn.
Please show this deck support, and upvote! Let me know what you think, as always, as well!
