Also. I see you are running Stranglehold, combos in a really hilarious way with Maralen, the Mournsong

ragecat nah I'm in southwest Ohio near Dayton. You might consider Omen Machine and Possessed Portal for this abomination to shut down your opponents from excessive draws too. Also, this deck needs more Sword of the Animist and basics and fewer off-color fetches and random nonbasic lands. You have a general that will usually get through and is good to attack with, or at least who will make you dudes that are easy to attack with. The sword gives such insane value as well as deck-thinning you substantially over the course of a game.

Maybe I'm misreading your intentions with Mana Web, but it doesn't lock all your opponents - it's still only the player that taps for mana. War's Toll is similar, but does not need Chromatic Lantern or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

@ragecat I did, but it literally says "Whenever a land an opponent controls is tapped for mana, tap all lands that player controls that could produce any type of mana that land could produce".. so if 'Player A' taps a swamp, it will not affect 'Players B' or 'Player C', even if you have Urborg out - it will only tap all that player's lands. I was just wondering if you meant it as tapping every player's lands - locking them down, because that's not how it works.
Still, it's not bad, but you need it together with something like Urborg or Lantern for one player, and I think adding War's toll would do the same on it's own - so it would not be a bad idea to run both.

Bou maybe YOU'RE confused about how War's Toll works? It also doesn't affect any other player other than the one tapping lands. It is still better than mana web, but does a similar effect for the land tapping half.

@EternalBrewmaster Well I never said War's toll would affect all opponents, just that it would do what you now need two cards for.
Just trying to help

Oh I see your point now. Sorry it was just confusing because it seemed like you were suggesting that wars toll would tap all your opponents lands. You're correct that playing one enchantment (a more resilient permanent type) is better than playing two artifacts (a less resilient permanent type).

Nice to see other people play Marchesa too, your deck looks similar to mine though I only have one combo and not so much slowing down opponents.

I like the deck, but there is an issue. Such as was mentioned above, mana web doesn't actually lock out all the lands that would tap for mana, it just makes them float all of it, because it works very similarly to War's Toll, and you can respond to the tap trigger by tapping more lands. (This was featured on an MTGGoldfish Commander Clash) If you really want to lock players out of the game, Contamination and Blood Moon are far more successful at actually making your opponent's lands ineffective.

Sargeras Bou EternalBrewmaster Yeah I think that's what kills it for me, that you can tap and float in response to the trigger. So I took it out. Thanks for all the advice!

I definitely wasn't suggesting to take out mana web. That card is legit and prevents people from playing on their turn and interrupting you on yours. You should absolutely be playing War's Toll which combos beautifully with Magus of the Tabernacle in these sort of decks. It makes them save all their creatures or cast spells since the mana would leave their mana pool at the end of the upkeep. War's Toll also stops people from attacking frequently because they don't want their utility creatures to die that they normally would never attack with.

Your deck looks super sweet and outrageously powerful, but do you have a list of the original deck? My meta's super casual, and I've been looking into Marchesa.

hahaha this looks bruuuutal. I play against a few Nekusar decks and feel the same way. I can be doing as much as possible to keep ahead of them but I'm not quite brutal enough yet. This looks like it could be fun to play at the same time it makes other's annoyed. Ever play Edric with this?

Forceofnature1 unfortunately nobody I play with runs Edric

I gave an upvote because 1. this deck is good, and 2. you joined the stax crowd. Contrary to popular belief, we're rather nice people.

Consider Harsh Mentor he's a combo stopper.
