I made a casual a few years back that was based on Lullmage Mentor , Arcane Laboratory , and cost effective counter spells with drawbacks (such as Annul / Spell Pierce/ Disrupt /Memory Lapse) that would eventually build up a army of Merfolk, counter the first spell my opponent would play effectively locking them down. Since my playgroup is shifting towards EDH/Commander, I thought I would throw together a decklist that played similarly and would bring back fond memories of my friends hopelessly trying to find a way to stop me before I locked them out.
