Sentry of the Underworld was simply a placeholder. It is designed to be an enchanty/lifegain deck. Thus life link, and Sanguine Bond

Blood Baron of Vizkopa for sure Sanguine Bond Path of Bravery Archangel of Thune are all a great combo. Don't need all three at once but any 2 of those are win.
Soldier of the Pantheon adds a control element and also aggro.
Whip of Erebos is ere-BOSS (punpunpunpun) and makes a spectacular combo with Obzedat, Ghost Council . You can "whip" the ghost back from the Gyard, then exile it with its own ability, and it becomes a permanent creature again.
Elspeth, Sun's Champion is good but expensive. Fiendslayer Paladin is good here too.

TEGHabibird, Okay, as per your suggestion I'll consider Obzedat, Ghost Council .

Do you have suggestions for what to take out and what amounts for the cards that will be left in?
September 26, 2013 11:10 a.m.
TEGHabibird says... #6
It's mainly just
4x whatever you absolutely need for a game. Generally small drops, mana dorks or important spells
3x for things you want in the game, but not necessarily in your opening hand.
2x for none essential legendary creatures and game Enders. You don't want a huge 8cmc bomb creature or spell in your opening hand.

Right, in that case I'll probably keep the balance I have now.

if i may suggest Ethereal Armor if you plan on having a ton of enchantments, gives your creaters first strike and boost stats for the enchantments and in return of that power increase, you gain more life and then they would also lose more. just a suggestion

Vizkopa Guildmage may be useful to you, it can turn life gain into damage when you haven't got a Sanguine Bond out.

Both are good suggestions, but there isn't really room for either.

TEGHabibird says... #11
Yes there is.
Primeval Bounty isn't aggressive enough as it is, because it doesn't do anything the turn it comes down! and that late in the game, you aren't likely to have the card assets to make use of the effects on turn 7. Put another 2 Ethereal Armor in and take out bounty.
Also, swap out Erebos, God of the Dead for Heliod, God of the Sun
He works really well in conjunction with Ethereal Armor
Lastly, Sphere of Safety is so powerful here. I'd recommend dropping Ordeal of Heliod

Also, splashing green just for Primeval Bounty is not good. I very highly recommend you take it out.

Bradmanthegreat says... #13
Playtesting has shown that it is not worth it.

Bradmanthegreat says... #14
Ordeal of heliod is huge if it goes off with sanguine bond out. I can see adding Heliod, god of the sun, but card advantage from erebos can be pretty helpful.

Yes, Primeval Bounty was not helpful. I add cards to playtest them.

Bradmanthegreat says... #17
i'll playtest the Sphere of Safety instead of Ordeal of Heliod and see which works better.

Your CMC is too high, and your turn 4 ramp... isn't going to do anything for you.
IMO, replace the Ghasts with Desecration Demons, the Bonds with Read the Bones, (that'll get you the lands you need)... Blood Baron has better Protection than Archangel, and RWB is huge right now, so he should in there more... and add some more removal, Celestial, so you can hit hexproof creatures and indestructible.
This brings the CMC way down, helps your curve, and you'll draw into more lands... your turn 4 play will be a bomb, rather than a card to curve on turn 4, which you don't need, and you'll have some more protection.

Celestial Flare is what he's referring to. At best I'd sideboard it.

I do agree partly with the other suggestions. Desecration Demon will do much more to stabilise your board than crypt Ghast will.
Read the Bones is great and I'd remove blind obedience and 1 sanguine bond for 3x read the bones
Archangel has much better synergy with your other cards, and 1x blood baron is good. Maybe 2 if you come across another copy.

I put in just one as more of a surprise play if it comes up because I couldn't find room to cut it(Blood Baron of Vizkopa ). I can see cutting the blind obedience for read the bones, but sanguine bond may be a risk. I get the card advantage, but lose probability of drawing it still.

TEGHabibird says... #23
In a WB midrange, they're already expecting Blood Baron of Vizkopa . It's not surprising to see him here.
Digging 4 cards is powerful. I've won control games just because I plowed through my deck faster than my aggro opponent could respond with threats.
Maybe try with 2x Read the Bones then with 3 and see how your odds go
October 3, 2013 4:22 p.m.
Bradmanthegreat says... #24
I need to clarify: surprise for me to pull it (Baron). Okay, I'll try two replacing blind obedience.
October 3, 2013 4:31 p.m.
looks very nice. You have a great mid-game and end-game cards to layout an ass-whoopin but the only downside to this deck is that speed deck will eliminate you befor you can bring out the cards necessary to do what you want.
might want to consider getting some type of mana ramp because your cards are too expensive, mana wise.
TEGHabibird says... #1
I'd really love to help, but your maybe board is full of so many different strategies.Ie an aggro strategy, midrange and tempo, reanimator.
Just too much to decide upon. What do you want do with this deck? And how much are you willing to spend because B/W can get pricey, unfortunately.
One thing I can say for certain, Sentry of the Underworld will never see standard play. Ever.
