Sensei's Divining Top
is virtually unremovable unless someone is playing Mill. Perhaps run that over Scroll Rack
. Top and Library can work quite well together, both offering similar effects. But Top can net you an extra card without the life loss, then Library can get Top back plus a few other cards should you choose to pay the life.
While I like Tempered Steel
, I think it's out of place here. Sort of. It definitely buffs your critters and makes all your Cheerios threats but... I love what you're doing with Beastmaster Ascension
, but TS feels like it's a bit overkill. I think that Glimpse of Nature
would fill the slot better and add speed. Speaking of speed, Gaea's Cradle
would be redunkulous. If Glimpse isn't the avenue you're going for, then perhaps some other sort of interaction would do, like Mana Tithe
, Silence
, or Orim's Chant
.
Lastly, if you can give your critters Haste somehow, then it's a potential turn 3 win.

Sensei's Divining Top is a much better choice than Scroll Rack , thanks aeon! I'll still be searching, so if you have any other draw card functions let me know.
I tried Glimpse of Nature , it doesn't work too well. I only have 16 0 mana drop creatures so at the very most I'll be getting 2 creatures on the field at the start. Most of the time it just ends up as a cantrip.
Then instead of Tempered Steel , a life gain method would be useful. I find I'm making myself a prime target with Sylvan Library , especially against red burn or flying decks. Peach Garden Oath and Marshaling the Troops seem like good additions.

Sure thing! Makes sense about Glimpse of Nature ...
I like Peach Garden Oath , but with Marshaling the Troops you have a possible disadvantage due to the tapping of creatures. If it were an instant, that would be cool.
I had another suggestion. With your Mox Opal and fetch lands, it would be easy to pull off and may require a Stomping Ground and/or Sacred Foundry . Fires of Yavimaya or Fervor , or something similar, would allow you to swing with all the beasties triggering Beastmaster Ascension ...

Alive / Well is strictly better than Peach Garden Oath

Since you are using Torpor Orb , why not add other bad etb creatures like Scythe Tiger ?
... and I'll throw my vote in for Alive / Well over Peach Garden Oath

Thanks for the suggestion demongod, I'll definitely use that card.
epic_eeyore, I used to run Scythe Tiger and it just didn't really work out that well. Solely because of it's one mana cost and it was a low turn out when I finally got Torpor Orb on the field. I'll try it again though because of its shroud. Though I was thinking, for the bad etb effect, to run Tempting Wurm instead.
To run said creature, I'm going to remove the Shield Sphere 's and put in 3x Tempting Wurm and one more Torpor Orb .

Scythe Tiger works a lot better now for some reason than it did before. I like it over the Tempting Wurm due to the shroud and lower mana cost. A keeper, at least at the moment.

I made a legacy deck abusing the same combo, though I went the route of Grixis so I could run Stifle as a back up in case I didn't get the Orb when I needed it. Check it out if you want, Phyrexian Orb. +1 here.

wow i like how reading the comments that your deck literally is an entire different deck pretty much lol

@ Nobilior
Too heavy of a mana cost. Consider this: I choose Scythe Tiger over Tempting Wurm because the mana cost for Tempting Wurm was too heavy. I ended up losing a turn or two because of it, trying to decide which card I should play. I generally play 2-3 cards a turn thanks to Sylvan Library , and degrading myself to one a turn really slows down the game.
Also, I don't need any really strong creatures, Beastmaster Ascension takes care of that, it just so happens that Phyrexian Dreadnought costs one colourless mana to play.

Springleaf Drum would be a no-brainer if this were Legacy affinity, but I'm not sure it'll really help speed here.

how about Collective Unconscious ...it's cost heavy but could really shine in this deck

You have a point considering my mana cost is 3 and lower. Perhaps it may be better to remove the Mox Opal 's for a play set of Gaea's Cradle ? Sylvan Library would help if I get a double. I would then chuck the Zendikar fetch lands and put in a Beastmaster Ascension and a Phyrexian Dreadnought .
@ teslamon
Or I could put in the Collective Unconscious for a test run considering I'm getting a lot of mana from Gaea's Cradle if I make the change. If I don't run it it is because of the mana cost not making it productive enough, fast enough. Sylvan Library only costing 2 mana is what makes it so good, you can gain those extra draws even by turn 2, putting you at a massive advantage over the opponent. With Collective Unconscious I'm waiting around turn 3-4 for a draw that may just end up having me discard most of it, and a one time only draw at that. So it just requires testing, if the extra Gaea's Cradle makes it worth while I'll use it, but at the moment the card doesn't look to good.

Decided to do nothing but swap a fetchland for a Gaea's Cradle . Turns are marginally faster but I never liked the playtesting on anything else, really skewed my numbers and the probability of getting things out.

Hanna's Custody may be a better sideboard choice than Leonin Abunas . It's cheaper, and none of your maindeck cards target, so shroud would be no different from hexproof.

Thanks for the suggestion doinitwrong! I never really liked Leonin Abunas because it has a 4 cmc. Nothing in my deck costs that much so having a cheaper one is really valuable. Bonus points to you for the Hanna's Custody suggestion because it is an enchantment, which I can tutor with Enlightened Tutor .

if it's legal, put in Torpor Orb to combo the Phyrexian Dreadnought
