I'd love to reduce the number of two-drops in the deck because it's true, I really do have too many, but I'd only replace them with three drops that fit my aggressive curve. I have tried Riders of Gavony in the place of one Knight of Glory and one Precinct Captain and a lot of my games felt much slower than usual. I did the same thing with Fiend Hunter in that slot, which worked better, but still felt really slow. The main reason is that my low land count would leave the Riders stuck in my hand too often. The Riders were moved to the sideboard for the mirror as a result. Maxing on two-drops makes the key card in the deck, Rally the Peasants , that much more effective, so if anything, I'd be more willing to cut two-drops for one-drops to fit that plan.

As it is, there aren't any innately powerful and aggressive three-drop humans beyond Silverblade Paladin in mono-white, so I'll have to wait until Frontline Medic fills that role.

Jimhawk, I've put together a deck somewhat like what you've constructed and was hoping for some opinions from you on a few cards that I'd like to consider including when Gatecrash comes out.

Frontline Medic : I'm not entirely sure how many I'd run, but I know that I'd like at least two included. It seems to be quite an exceptional card-- especially since by the time I'd like for it be attacking, I'll have enough creatures to activate the battalion.

Gideon, Champion of Justice ; I'd probably include him as a 1-of. He seems like he could take over the game by himself if I had gotten him out. Plus, he'd be a nice beater to add to the collection. Although, with the lack of trample-- he might not be worth considering.

Skullcrack ; Sideboard material? >.>

Aurelia, the Warleader ; Probably as a 1-of. She'd be an excellent finisher, riiiite?

card:Aurelia's Fury; Uh-- I'm not so sure on this one but this card seems phenomenal. What do you think?

Boros Charm ; Auto-include, but how many would you recommend? xD

Odric, Master Tactician ; 1-of, finisher, what do you think?

Cavern of Souls ; How many would you include? I have 3 right now, but it seems like it may be too much. Especially since mana is an issue at the moment.

Lightning Mauler ; Another 2-drop? >.>

Please, your wisdom would be most appreciated! <3

(I might have more questions in regards to advice, but for now, this is all).

Out of the cards you're thinking about, I think only 4 of them would work with this deck.

Boros Charm , because it's overpowered as shit.

Odric, Master Tactician in the sideboard, if they're creature heavy.

Cavern of Souls is great, but you should only have two of them, due to the already limited mana pool.

Frontline Medic , just cause indestructible.

hey its me again, i just finished putting the deck together again (still missing some cards) however it still highly dangerous against slower decks as far as i saw, and quite frankly i wouldn't change much to it but what do you saideboard against Mono-red decks cuz thats the only deck that outright kicked my ass during tonights mini-tournament and placed 4th place with this deck so i wana keep this deck cuz i always had a thing for white-red (i guess you could say I'm Boros but i only started magic 2 years ago so this is my first visit to Ravnica) so any sudgestions? i do have all 3 Thalia's, only thing missing from this deck is the Ajani.... no-one has him up for trade here it seems haha how unfortunate so any tips and help?

@QuickDrawZero Against monored I always side in the fourth Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , the third card:Faith's Shield, and the third Bonds of Faith only if they have Stromkirk Noble . The matchup is generally in our favor, so what was it specifically that beat you?

Ajani, Caller of the Pride isn't super necessary, so you can replace him with something like Fiend Hunter .

I'm completely Boros through and through, and I believe my post-rotation Boros deck is about as complete as it'll ever be. Stay on the lookout for it when I release it after seeing the complete spoiler on Monday!

Hey mate, I tried playtesting the deck and everytime. I only get one land hand or sometimes two but one is clifftop and one is slayers stronghold. Is this on a 22 lands before? Or tappedout play testing is a bit bug at the moment? I play tested it for almost 15 times and it always gives me a one land opening.

Btw, what's your take on the Gatecrash? Will you be modifying this deck or will you create one? My gatecrash deck depends on you. :)

(Coz I'm wondering if I should make this or a boros themed deck)

FridayWing says... #12

Yup. definitely bug. When I play tested it I just noticed the whole deck contains 35 cards only! It's not registering the other land cards. tappedout is weiiiirrrddddd

Tappedout is behaving strangely of late as they work out bugs.

There are so many goodies in Boros for this kind of deck that a remake is more likely. Boros Charm and Frontline Medic alone change things dramatically.

I've done several playtests with this deck, and the one problem I consistently have is a lack of land. Maybe it's just bad luck, but each of the 10-15 times I playtested it, I had to mulligan because of bad land, a bad land hand being defined as a hand with only one Clifftop Retreat or no lands at all. I think a lot of it was just that I got bad hands, but the pure consistency of them leads me to believe you should add 1-2 more lands.

Jimhawk says... #16

That could be a problem with the Java Math.random function not working well in some browsers compared to others. I used to run the TappedOut playtester on this particular deck about 100 times a day and mulligan less than 10% of the time, and I had to mulligan at an even lower rate in actual tournament play.

FridayWing says... #17

I love the comment of BlakkHand. Haha. Check the deck when you are playtesting it mate. It has like 41 cards in the library. the tappedout play testing function does not recognize the whole deck. Happened to me when I was playtesting it then I noticed the deck count is way below.

January 29, 2013 12:04 p.m.

Jimhawk says... #18

I discovered the root cause of the issue. The playtester is only seeing foil copies of a particular card and ignoring all others, probably some strange syntax error. This deck and The Sunfist Brigade will be having their foils removed shortly.

why a mountain over a Sacred Foundry?

Jimhawk says... #22

Because Sacred Foundry wasn't legal before Gatecrash. This was my Return to Ravnica Standard deck.

If you were to update this deck (mono white) What you add and take out? I'm trying to make a mono white deck. So far Its okay but I rely a lot of enchantments such as Ethereal Armor, Blind Obedience and Oblivion ring.
