Do you think Kitchen Finks is a good card in this deck?

It would be fine i guess, but im playing more aggressive creatures instead.

What about Hedron Crab as an alternate win condition?

I don't think mirran crusader or voice of resurgence are right for this particular meta. Given the lack of removal and the lack of B/G decks. Half of your match ups are going to be aggro or the new eldrazi deck. Neither of which are helped by either crusader or resurgence.

Imy leaning onwards 6 to 7 mana creatures and 4 retreats.

Mirran Crusader + X exalted triggers + Elspeth, Knight-Errant.. Mirran Crusader + Elspeth, Knight-Errant does more damage, even without any exalted triggers, than Geist of Saint Traft + Elspeth, Knight-Errant does. Voice is just for the value, most of the times its a 2 for 1..

Mirran crusader is 4 or 6 damage realistically. Geist is 6 or 7.

I'm discounting elspeth because she's a 2 of.

Obviously the dream is ramp into crusader into elspeth but that's not going to happen often enough to make it a centre piece, in my opinion.

Its a better top deck than geist though so that of something. Perhaps in a lightning bolt less format he's better than smiter.

You take out Elspeth? Are you mad? She is the thing that ends stale games, and the card that wins me more games than the Retreat to Coralhelm combo. She is a beast in this deck, how will you do without her?

Geist of Saint Traft is obviously a better card than Mirran Crusader, but considering Tarmogoyf, Abrupt Decay, Terminate, Murderous Cut, Scavenging Ooze, Kitchen Finks, Kolaghan's Command, Maelstrom Pulse, Slaughter Pact, and the occasional Go for the Throat etc pro B/G is quite useful. I like him as a 4th Geist.

No I mean I just don't include elspeth in my calculations of explosiveness because it's rare to draw her on time. I won't take her out the deck though.

I don't know how I feel about crusader. Geist consistently puts out the most damage, followed by crusader, followed by Loxodon. Perhaps that is how you should prioritise threats given that this is an aggro deck.

I think Crusader is a must. When building aggro you need cards that helps you when your opponent is winning too. Crusader is quite aggressive, blocks Goyfs for days, and that alone is a reason to include him as a 1-of. The insane amount of damage combined with Noble Hierarch /Qasali Pridemage and Elspeth, Knight-Errant is nice enough not to ignore. Games where they leave a Goyf as blocker is usually very stale, but Crusader and Elspeth both break through. Even tho this is an aggressive deck its not the most aggressive and thus it has a bad matchup against the most aggressive decks out there. You need to recover, thats why i have Mirran Crusader, Eternal Witness, Scavenging Ooze and the one of Chord of Calling to get any one of those.

Crusader is better than Loxodon smiter.

Smiter has its advantages. I have lots of Lili and UWx in my meta, so it stays. In a meta without Lili Crusader is better :)

Yeah agreed.

I might go 2-2... I really want to go +1 Elspeth and maybe another Chord too. Im gonna give this deck some work soon :)

I would go 2-2 as well. Crusader is just such a bigger beating when hit off of Coco or chorded into with all the exhalted you have going on here.

Also, kinda confused about the sideboard. Why so many Gaddock Teeg's and no Kataki, War's Wage? Isnt affinity big right now cuz its good against Eldrazi and Gaddock Teeg just dies to pyroclasm? Also what do you think of Kitchen Finks as your goto sideboard card against burn or a split of Finks and Rhox War Monk instead of the feed the clan's & Leyline of Sanctity's. If your running Leyline because of discard cards id just sideboard more smiters.

have you thought of Kessig Wolf Run it works cheaper and have to worry less about your own life

hideinginyourbush I actually like Rogue's Passage more. It lets my Geist of Saint Traft pass safely. It would be nice to run along side passage, but i need my plains and forests for the combo.

Im gonna try Tamiyo, Field Researcher as a 1-of. I think she has potential. Her +1 will almost always let you draw 2, and with Mirran Crusader you can draw 3-4. Her -2 is very good when they have a blocker or two. Her ult is pretty nice :).

I took out one Loxodon Smiter to make room for her..

I feel like you can drop to 22 lands with 7 dorks in the deck. You currently have more than 50% of you deck as being mana sources, which is probably overkill. I'd drop 2 lands for another Voice of Resurgence another Qasali Pridemage.

smackjack says... #20

Im gonna try but i think i need them for the combo

August 7, 2016 4:33 a.m.

Nixin72 says... #21

I'm running the combo on 22 lands. You have only 4 lands that aren't either a fetch or a forest/plains, plus 2 of them you can sac to get into the grave, meaning you have 22 lands that can easily get into your graveyard giving you a 24/24 knight. And on top of that, with greedy modern manabases, your opponent will likely have a lost a little life up to that point too.
