This is a gift for a 10 year old who has been playing for a year. I went mono because one of his main complaints when losing was that getting either enough lands or the right lands was difficult. I went aggro because I feel like he'll be able to get his creatures out right from the start are he has lots on one-drops and an overall lower mana curve. Some of the cards lacking playsets were a little more expensive and I would rather see how he plays and let him make up his own mind as to which direction he wants to take this deck. He can use his own money to tune it. We all play kitchen table so card legality was not a worry.
