Strategy

The key to this deck is using Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind in combination with one of the following: Ophidian Eye, Curiosity, or Tandem Lookout. Any of these cards, when used with Niv, will result in a pseudo-infinite combo once the player draws a card. The only limit is how many cards are remaining in the deck once the combo goes off. There are several cards to keep the player from drawing out as well as renewing the size of the deck, like Learn from the Past, Mnemonic Nexus, or Winds of Change. Alternatively, if Laboratory Maniac is already on the battlefield, the game can be won just by drawing out.

Niv and his combo are key to the chances of this deck winning, as such there are plenty of cards to help keep him on the battlefield once he's been summoned: Neurok Stealthsuit, Swiftfoot Boots, Whispersilk Cloak, and Clout of the Dominus. Sakashima the Impostor and the Psychosis Crawler also work well in tandem with Niv. To help get the combo cards faster, the player can transmute either Drift of Phantasms to get Ophidian Eye/Tandem Lookout or Dizzy Spell for Curiosity. In multiplayer games, aside from the Psychosis Crawler, using Jace's Erasure and/or Sphinx's Tutelage can help to take out multiple players at once after the pseudo-infinite combo triggers.

Keeping a large hand should always be a secondary objective with this deck. Graceful Adept, Library of Leng, Reliquary Tower, Spellbook, and Thought Vessel are all there to allow the player to exceed the seven card limit. The extreme redundancy is necessary since having a huge hand size works great with many other cards in the deck, but it's absolutely amazing with Meishin, the Mind Cage.

Notes and Combos

Firemind or Psychosis Crawler paired with Sigil of Sleep can help to remove pesky creatures like an untargetable Platinum Angel or annoying combos. It also helps with horde tribal decks or gods.

Tandem Lookout is particularly useful when Niv is being protected by a shroud effect since the Lookout can ignore shroud (soulbond doesn't directly target creatures). As a sidenote, Sakashima also ignores shroud, so she can be used to copy a shrouded Niv and trigger the pseudo-infinite combo instead.

Lastly, do not underestimate the power of Rhystic Study. It's very useful in either slowing down the opponent or helping the player draw the cards they need that much faster. In multiplayer games, it can be godly.
