This deck was heavily inspired by Icaruskid's Imagine Dragons | Budget Rosnakht [PRIMER], so all credits for the original idea go to them. It is in fact a revised version of that same deck with no budget restrictions, so the differences are mostly in the mana-base and in the number of creatures, as well as the occasional odd card. I almost never base my decks on someone else's. Usually, if I see a deck or a commander that I like from somewhere else, I try to brew my own build and come up with my own playstyle for them. However, the original idea of this deck is so brilliant and so fun that I honestly did not find any other way to build it. So please go check out the original one, and kudos to you Icaruskid for coming up with such a cool idea!

As Bearand the Bold's epitaph on Crimson Kobolds rightly claims "Kobolds are harmless". And indeed they are. They're usually 0/1 creatures, most of the times with no flashy abilities either. And this is exactly what this deck wants other players to believe. Based solely on its commander, this deck looks like a classic token deck, only a bit less powerful than most, being in mono-red and making only 0/1s. In reality, this deck wants you to create a lot of Kobolds just so you can exchange them with free powerful dragons through polymorph spells, leading you to victory. Perhaps, then, we should change the epitaph to "Kobolds are harmless, but dragons are not".

The deck wins through commander damage dealt by dragons or through burn damage dealt by cards like Dragon Tempest, Scourge of Valkas or Terror of the Peaks, which trigger when dragons enter the battlefield.

The gameplan is fairly simple:

  1. Cast Rosnakht, Heir of Rohgahh on turn one.

  2. Start casting one or two drop instant and sorceries targeting Rosnakht, Heir of Rohgahh to create Kobolds. Most of these spells act also as a draw engine to find the polymorph spells needed to turn our little harmless friends in dangerous hellish beasts.

  3. Transform your Kobolds into Dragons thanks to spells like Transmogrify.

  4. Swing with your army of dragons and try to remove other players before they remove you.

This deck is amazing. It's extremely fun to play, very consistent in what it does, and very fast. You can start cheating dragons onto the battlefield as early as turn 3 if you have a card like Jeska's Will and be unstoppable by turn 7 if your opponents don't have enough answers. It is obviously not perfect. It's extremely vulnerable to boardwipes and it runs basically no interaction. But hey, this is mono-red, it's all about being explosive, following your instinct, and gambling a bit with your luck, it does not claim or even try to have an answer to everything. The lack of interaction is a willful choice, because it would take away from the synergy and the speed of the deck, going against its spirit. So enjoy it and embrace it as it is, you will surely have a blast! If you liked what you saw please do upvote my deck and the original one I got the inspiration from!
