Korvold's Tasty Dinner

Commander / EDH BRG (Jund)

Twigonometry

Maybeboard

Korvold self-sacrifice deck, built from shell of Nature's Vengeance precon & Korvold Brawl Deck.

Fairly budget build, and I already owned a few of the expensive cards (i.e. Bloodstained Mire, Assassin's Trophy) so the price could be brought down with some replacements. Maybeboard contains lots of high-value cards I intend to add to the deck gradually (so the price of the deck might creep up over time!)

Categories

  • Synergy Land: lands that synergise with overall strategy, e.g. cycling lands, sac-and-fetch lands, etc
  • Land Synergy: enablers for landfall/land cycling effects, or creatures that bounce/cycle lands, or enchantments/artifacts that like landfall
  • Sac Outlet: Enable sacrificing of creatures/lands
  • Aristocrats: Creatures/enchantments that benefit from death of creatures
  • Utility Creature: Creature that ramps/does something useful/has multiple uses and so doesn't fit easily into one category
  • Threats: Any big creatures, or creatures that synergise highly with landfall. Categorised by mana cost (low <=3, mid 4-5, late >=6)

Changes

Need to decide on a subtheme - either aristocrats or landfall, not both.

Probably space to remove weaker cards from both subthemes e.g. Rampaging Baloths, Judith, the Scourge Diva.

If advancing into stronger aristocrats theme, need cards such as Zulaport Cutthroat and Butcher of Malakir. If going in other direction, need cards like The Gitrog Monster and Crucible of Worlds.

Have to balance cards between this, Muldrotha Deck, and Mardu Aristocrats deck - perhaps focus on land theme for this deck, allow aristocrats cards to move over - also will need to share removal with Muldrotha, as this deck currently has an abundance of BG

Space to cut lands?

If adding field of the dead, consider adding zombie subtheme?

Perhaps add deserts - cycling ones are good, and work with hour of promise

See http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/korvold-edh-4/ for aristocrats take

See http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gone-with-the-windgrace-1/ for landfall take

Mix of both strategies - powerful aristocrats cards, but cut the weenies - keep the enchantments and token generation, and focus on saccing lands and recurring creatures

Definitely Cut

Maybe Cut

Priority Upgrades

Add more lands?

Add Mikaeus, the Unhallowed infinite combo package? Either Murderous Redcap + a sac outlet or Tatterkite, with a Blood Artist or Mayhem Devil effect to kill
