Kozilek, Butcher of Hopes and Dreams

Welcome to Kozilek Beat-Down Town! The training-wheels are off, this isn't your typical colorless "Twiddle with yourself" list. We're not bogging down with convoluted combos, or packing the list with superfluous Eldrazi tribal. This is the most lethal Glass-cannon your playgroup will ever hate you for piloting.

Kozilek is a two-hit kill, cast him and swing early in the game, Annihilator:4 will leave you the Lone Victor of a wasteland free from colored permanents.

Kozilek has a CMC of 10, I mean, how "early in the game" can we really be talking here? Turn 3. T-U-R-N 3. Somewhere along your life as a Planeswalker you will fall in love with a deck, in that moment a decision is made. The decision to take your hardcover copy of "Financial Responsibility and You" and chuck the damn thing out a window. Powerful Lands and a high-density of the best colorless manarocks you can shake a second mortgage at make the weeks of TopRamen totally worth it. Godhands crafted only by Platinum Angel herself can give you a turn-1 cast of Kozilek, most of the time it is turns 3-5 with the slowest of games being 6-8. An early cast will surely empty your entire hand.

Three best words in Magic? "Draw a card", when your general has an uncounterable "Draw four cards" on cast? That's too good of an _Opportunity _ to pass up. This is the reason why Kozilek was chosen over all other unbanned colorless legends available. If he's countered or immediately answered with removal, the cards drawn will set up an easy cast soon enough.

Kozilek does "die to removal" and a spot removal heavy playgroup will keep him caged in the zone for a few turns, I turn to stax effects just for this scenario, grind the game to a halt, while you are relatively unaffected by most "NO-stones" in the deck, giving time to rebuild mana and cast Bigboy-Pants himself again.

Tips and Tricks: Tap down your Stax cards before your untap so you're not accidentally caught in your own oppression; same goes for tapping down the artifacts that may benefit your opponents, don't let them play with your toys.

Long games and graveyard is starting to look thin? Sacrifice Kozilek, allow him to die. Upon hitting the grave his shuffle effect will trigger, then as a replacement effect, have Kozi go into the Command zone instead of shuffling in. Your grave will still shuffle in and you're refueled, ready to start drawing into your pile of hate.

Speaking of hate: I'm aware cards like: Merciless Eviction, Vandal Blast, Shatterspree, & Stony Silence exist. My opponents will often name these cards during games, but seldom cast, or even include them in the 99. As I've stated this deck is a Glass Cannon, POWERFUL, but fragile as a cost. I accept that I just flat out loose to a Merciless Eviction on artifacts. There are always going to be counters to your strategy and you can't outplay them all, especially when delving into niche archetypes.

No, I am not running Darksteel Forge. I do not want to put that kind of mana investment into a single artifact that costs almost as much as Kozilek himself. Exile, is more common in MTG, and indestructible just isn't what it used to be. As stated before, I've made my peace loosing to mass artifact destruction.

If you have any questions on the build/specific card choices, or perhaps some suggestions for cards I may have missed, I always appreciate feedback!

Have Fun!
