Krark & Ikra Spellslinger/Lifegain EDH

Commander / EDH BRG (Jund) Magecraft Partner

1empyrean

Jund spellslinger, lifegain, recursions, and value.

Flipping coins isn't always about winning. One of the interesting things Krark, the Thumbless can do is allow you to return to your hand spells that would exile themselves on resolution, and by taking advantage of magecraft-style effects, we can still gain value. With that in mind, this deck is built to capitaluze on losing flips as much as winning them.

Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper is great for life gain, and this deck takes advantage of lifegain triggers to gain value. High toughness matters more than how much damage creatures do.

This deck revolves around recuring spells and gaining life while it grinds it's way through your library and your opponents, but explosive value is only a coin flip away.

My favorite interaction in this deck is Krark, the Thumbless + Healing Technique. If you win the coin flip, copy Healing Technique and choose the same target. This causes the original to fail to resolve and goes to your graveyard instead of exiling itself. The Demonstrate trigger creates a copy to return Healing technique to your hand. If you lose the flip, the Demonstrate trigger creates a copy and you can return the original target to your hand.
