I was actually going to create a "budget" decklist on my own and look for some Inspiration, but your decklist is pretty ballin' as it is already. Is there a reason you cut all existing Token spells? Are they simply not needed? +1 Goblin Love!

Thanks very much crowned, kind words! Regarding the goblin token spells ( Krenko's Command , Dragon Fodder , Hordeling Outburst , Goblin Offensive etc.), they simply weren't adding value. I found that the utility goblins are more important (especially the haste enablers) and give Krenko more than enough token generation on his own. I'm sure there are Krenko players that would disagree, but that's been my personal experience with token gen cards in this deck.

Good luck with your build, goblin decks are lots of fun!

I have been wanting to build a goblin commander myself. My first deck I ever owned was the onslaught goblin pre-constructed. I fell in love since. I am trying to build a red/black goblin commander? Have you ever considered that? It really opens up the versatility of the already versatile goblins. Plus they allow for some strong search engines and the like.

Anyway I love the deck a lot. Krenko, is awesome. I remember building a standard deck with him when he was in.Five-Alarm Fire made it possible. Have you ever thought about that card? The best part about it is. The creatures just need to do damage, so even if they are chumpped blocked. As long as they hit something you get a counter.

You can swing with say 40 goblins at a player kill him then since all 40 hit. You then remove 40 counters and pop off another player.

There is also an ogre that is worth mentioning. The name escapes me atm, but it gives a creature +2+0 and haste when they ETB until end of turn. It might be worth looking at. When I get home I will look for him and post the name if someone doesn't beat me to it. Sorry for the long comment. Live long and prosper my friend.

x8bitGangsta the card you are looking for is Ogre Battledriver. hes completely insane in my krenko deck

My friend runs a Wort, Boggart Auntie deck and it's bonkers. The splash of black definitely gives you access to all manner of evilness - Recursion effects, tutors, good spot removal & Grenzo, Dungeon Warden + Mad Auntie spring to mind. I opted for Krenko and mono-red for 2 reasons: 1) I didn't want the same deck as my pal + 2) I don't like repeating colour combinations in my decks (I already run a Rakdos vampire tribal deck).

Five-Alarm Fire is awesome and on theme, I slotted it in here when Gatecrash was released. Although it's decent, I ended up taking it out because it wasn't as effective as I hoped it would be. Maybe I was unlucky...Looking at it again I makes me want to give it another shot.

And yes, Ogre Battledriver should probably get in here. Haste + buff is absolutely crucial in this deck, good call.

Thanks for the kind comments x8bitGangsta, much appreciated!

How about consider trying Gamble? Useful for finding Goblin King.

Gamble is a fun card and I've considered adding it in here before, but the RNG factor is a little scary. I might try it to see how it goes, thanks Delta-117!

Have you considered Thornbite Staff? With a few sac outlets it makes Krenko basically infinite.

Forkbeard says... #11

Clamwacker, I totally have! I opted for minimal/no infinite combos in this deck due to my meta which is mainly beer fueled kitchen table shenanigans - I obviously like to win, but often the combos just bring excess salt to the party. Even without the combos this deck goes off pretty easily.

Thanks for the suggestion sir, appreciated!

Fair enough, one of my play groups limits infinite combos to 5 repetitions. Painful enough if they go off, but not game ending usually.

If you're not against running these effects, I find Magus of the Moon just as punishing as Blood Moon even though it is easier to remove.

September 30, 2017 5:32 p.m.

Forkbeard says... #14

Definitely not against those effects as they enable my goblin horde to walk through if Goblin King is out. Replacements are getting tricky in this deck and I don't own a copy of Magus of the Moon, but it's certainly a card to consider adding to the 'Mono-Red Douchebaggery' roster. Thanks for the evil idea ihmnp.

What is the reason for including Altar of the Brood? Your creature count is already on the low side for a goblin deck, especially since you aren't including cards like Dragon Fodder, Krenko's Command, Empty the Warrens, etc...

I would also recommend some more draw, because you're pretty much relying on what you topdeck here. Faithless Looting, Slate of Ancestry, Magus of the Wheel, Wheel of Fate, etc... should help keep you with gas.

Altar of the Brood is great in this deck. Sure it's a little win more, but if I'm going to be busting out 10-20 goblin tokens a turn we may as well add insult to injury. It's usually seen as a fairly urgent threat - as it turns out, people hate milling that much per turn. It's also a 1-drop and not a main win condition so if someone wants to use their removal on AotB that's fine by me.

As for the 'create 2 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens' suite, I used to run them & ultimately found they were too weak/ineffective. I slapped in a few duplicating + untap effects (see the 'Krenko x2' category up there) to maximize Krenko's ability and have had enormous success with that strategy.

I definitely could use more card draw in this deck, you're right. I was leaning toward wheel effects but Slate of Ancestry could be crazy in here, I'd definitely need to add a Reliquary Tower and/or Thought Vessel if I add that!

Thanks NoSoyYucateco, good ideas + discussion.

Effects like hammer of purphoros or Fervor can be helpful for krenko, have you tested it?

May 9, 2018 10:07 a.m.

Forkbeard says... #18

Fervor & Hammer of Purphoros are great, but I'm already running 5 mass haste cards (Goblin Chieftain, Goblin Warchief, Akroma's Memorial, In the Web of War, Ogre Battledriver) + 4 more single target haste enablers for Krenko (Flamekin Village, Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Thousand-Year Elixir). Haste is important for this deck, however I like the additional utility all of my current haste effect choices have and I'm not sure what I'd swap out to make room for those 2 cards.

Might as well add Torch Courier and Mogg Fanatic .

Those two Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker , Conspicuous Snoop and Goblin Recruiter are an infinite damage combo.

Heh, yeah that's pretty mean. Perhaps a bit clunky to set up but it would be a rewarding win, for sure.

March 27, 2021 5:13 p.m.

Wow, this deck is dooope. Reminds me a lot of my goblin deck. I'm sure this puppy goes off very very quickly like mine does. It's the tap Krenko, etb 35+ goblins and altar of the brood for me. Hilariously evil!

Thanks brianizbrewtal! I do really enjoy this deck. Side note, see this freshly spoiled auto-include goblin?
