Oo I forgot about that one. What do you think I should take out for it?
September 29, 2012 5:21 a.m.
Such a hard choice; I like them all! Though I don't care for the Goblin Assassin ; 5cmc for a 2/2 that can potentially hurt you 50% of the time just doesn't appeal to me.
I'd also take a Spikeshot Elder over the Goblin Fireslinger .
September 29, 2012 5:36 a.m.
yeah I was also iffy about Goblin Assassin . I think the reason he's used in this kind of deck is because i'm going to have tokens for days. but you're right, i think he's out. though i've never seen the appeal Spikeshot Elder can you explain why him?
September 29, 2012 3:10 p.m.
Ah that's a good point about the Assassin and tokens.
I love my Spikeshot Elder s; I usually have a few methods of pumping him up like Claws of Valakut , Quest for the Goblin Lord , Goblin Bushwhacker , Gorgon Flail , and/or Goblin Chieftain so he doubles as face burn and/or creature removal. Of course, he doesn't need to tap to activate his ability, so he's especially fun to have out later in the game if/when your hand is empty.
September 29, 2012 5 p.m.
For clarification: he's fun to have out late game if/when your hand is empty, so you can spend all your mana on triggering his ability multiple times
September 29, 2012 5:01 p.m.
ahh. okay i get it then. thanks for the input, i think i'll take out the fireslinger after all. :D

This seems like a really good deck to me (+1)! There is one small weakness maybe in that here isn't much flying. Look at these: Battle Squadron (ok - not a goblin - but it would work with what your deck does), Goblin Glider , Kyren Glider (maybe not solving the problem), Stream Hopper , Goblin Ski Patrol (if you want to switch to snow covered mountaints), Goblin Balloon Brigade , Goblin Sky Raider
There was another one too but I'm not remembering the name ... something R/W involving first strike ... it fell out of my brain so if anyone finds it let me know!
September 30, 2012 5:23 p.m.
Thanks for the +1! and yeah, i know what you mean, fliers really do become kind of a pain if I don't kill my opponent fast enough. I may have to throw a couple of those in.

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker goes infinite with Lightning Crafter and a sac outlet and goes nuts with a ton of others.
Not too many other suggestions, maybe check my Krenko deck Krenko's Commandos for other ideas?

Just an FYI the Battle Squadron has been oracled to the Goblin creature type.
Also, if flying is your problem I find creatures with Devour make some crazy finishers.
Preyseizer Dragon and Voracious Dragon both can be wincons in their own right.
Sac 20 goblins for a 44/44 flyer that can kill someone when it is declared attacking and another one dies from combat damage.
Sac 20 goblins for a 24/24 flyer and one player dies when he ETB.
Also, when you sac those 20 goblins it sets up 20 separate untap triggers for Thornbite Staff that you can respond to individually, putting your goblin count near where it was in the first place if not netting you some gain.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'd love to put in Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Goblin Piledriver in, but each of those cards costs about $15 to my knowledge. I think those cards are something i'll invest in in the long run. :P
Though, about Battle Squadron and the Devour creatures, what would you suggest i take out for them?

Mogg Fanatic , while being able to self-sacrifice kinda sucks in EDH, 40 life? I doubt you'd ever ping a player, Creature control? Most creatures will be out of range of that. Swap it for Battle Squadron .
Carnage Altar , while being card draw, is extremely underwhelming just because you have MUCH better sources of draw available to you in the form of Sensation Gorger and Slate of Ancestry . Replace it with Voracious Dragon .
Goblin Goon is great, but, he is a vanilla 6/6 who has a conditional attack. In Krenko's Commandos I'd rather play Mana Echoes than play a vanilla 6/6 for 4. Replace it with something that can KILL, Preyseizer Dragon .

Okey dokey, took your suggestions. Thanks for the help, I'll test this out and see how it goes. :)

My girl's deck Krenko's Commandos uses Voracious Dragon and I can't tell you how many times she's killed me with it.
Get 20 goblins = Win game. (V.S. one opponent.)

As someone else with an established Krenko deck Voracious Dragon is not something I'd recommend, actually. If it doesn't win you the game you've just sacrificed your board state and you're one creature-removal away from losing the game. Staff of Domination is banned in EDH I believe. Goblin Tunneler , Mogg Maniac , Akki Underminer , and Goblin Grenade are very underwhelming. You've got all the usual win-con's with the exception of Kyren Negotiations , so good job!

@bdrichar Voracious Dragon is an ETB effect. When you cast him and sac 20 goblins the "deals damage equal to twice the number of goblins it devoured" trigger is placed on the stack and will deal 40 damage whether they kill the dragon or not. Most times you use it while going infinite so the board state hit is negligible.
December 12, 2012 12:03 a.m.
@Ohthenoises No no, I understand. The issues that I have with it are that a fog effect negates it and loses your board position (such that one dead Krenko will probably lose you the game), that unless you have such a mass of goblins that you can kill every other player with it it's a dead card, and that it feels so "win more"; if you have 20 or more goblins on the field you should have already won, and in such a way that you can do it next turn if it doesn't work out for you this time.

A lot of times someone will have things like Pariah or card:Pariah's Shield type effects that can make your infinite goblins moot. Another, more common thing, is for people to have Propaganda type effects and unless you can luck out and get either Mana Echoes or Skirk Prospector out you are kinda SOL because you can't attack with them. (card:Norn's Annex will also see play sometimes.) I really run him as a way to get around anti swarm tech.
December 12, 2012 12:14 a.m.
@ohthenoises I very rarely win a game with direct damage actually ; p It's not too difficult to do with Krenko as you know, but I also very rarely take advantage of the infinite combos I have. Chzech it! deck:the-red-sea-krenko-edh
I do get now why it can be useful, however. Perhaps I will sideboard for if my local meta changes! Thanks!
December 12, 2012 12:25 a.m.
awww darn, i didn't know about Staff of Domination being banned. :/ as for all the cards that you said were underwhelming, any suggestions as to what i should replace them with?
December 12, 2012 2:24 a.m.
That depends largely on where you want to take the deck! I have found two strategies that work for Krenko decks my self; Combo-Goblins and Mass Land Destruction (MLD). Combo-Goblins focuses more on utilizing Krenko's ability explosively and multiple times a turn and is extremely viable in EDH, but requires you to play your mono-red deck like a blue player. My Krenko deck is a good example of this deck:the-red-sea-krenko-edh. MLD is more overtly powerful but much, much meaner in that the idea is to throw out Krenko and utilize many of the combo elements of before, but once turn 4-6 happens to throw down MLD like Bust and leave everyone on catch up. Krenko generates board position so efficiently that those free two to three turns while people get enough mana for a Go for the Throat will pretty much guarantee your victory. A good example of that kind of deck is Krenko gonna Krenk, though that one's taken out one or two of its MLD cards since last I saw it.
December 12, 2012 10:47 a.m.
Yeah, i already have a land destruction deck and my friends hate me for it, so I think i'll avoid that route, haha.I already made a couple changes, but I'm not sure what else to take out.
December 12, 2012 4:09 p.m.
I'm noticing a real lack of removal, something that my Krenko deck could sorely use and that I'm sure yours could also benefit from. Akki Underminer , Goblin Wardriver , Tuktuk the Explorer , Skirk Fire Marshal , Warren Instigator , and Preyseizer Dragon are all candidates for replacement with removal I think. Shattering Spree or Shattering Pulse is nice, Chaos Warp , Into the Core , Viashino Heretic , Pyroblast , Shatterstorm , Red Elemental Blast , Dwarven Miner , Mogg Salvage , Fury Charm , Vandalblast , Goblin Tinkerer , Shivan Harvest , and Detritivore are decent removal, but I may be missing some stuff. Mono-red removal is less than stellar at creature removal.
In the Web of War is a wincon/utility card you're missing as well.
