8 player single elimination. We usually split top 4 to get to the next one quicker; Release weekends tend to be all about opening packs!

Went into it with a "cashdraft" mindset, and ended up in Mardu control. Imagine that. Bit too low on the creature side, which I realized going into pack 3. Couldn't control what little came my way at that point.

Faced a Jeskai aggro player.

  • Game 1 was a slaughterfest, with all my kill spells putting in time and small critters sweeping up the remains.
  • Game 2 saw him open up with Altar of the Brood. While nonthreatening at first, and with his creatures easily dying, it became an issue when he kept hitting critters. A Ponyback Brigade ran into a tough wall, and Butcher showed at the last possible moment, winning me the game with exactly zero cards in library.
