A couple other tips:

  • If you have a Mishra's Bauble in play but you don't have a Kuldotha Rebirth, consider waiting to crack the Bauble if you don't need the extra draw right away. If you play Bauble turn one and already have a strong turn two play in hand, wait one more turn to see if you top-deck a Rebirth.
  • When you have a Goblin Guide out with a Mishra's Bauble, swing with the Guide before you crack the Bauble. If you put a land in their hand, go ahead and crack the Bauble. If you don't, crack the Bauble at the end of their next draw step so you see two of their cards.
  • When keeping a hand with 2 or 3 lands, sequence your land drops so that you use your fetches first. In an opening hand with 2 lands, using a fetch-land will increase the odds of drawing a non-land card the next turn by more than a percent.

I recently took out 1 Kuldotha Rebirth, 1 Mishra's Bauble, 2 Goblin Chieftans in favor of 4 Dark Confidants.

I decided 4 Kuldotha Rebirths was too many. I would often draw 2 Rebirths when I only had 1 artifact, or open my hand with 1-2 Rebirths and no artifacts. After some play-testing with 3, the chances of getting hosed by a useless Kuldotha Rebirth seem much lower.

With fewer Kuldotha Rebirths in the list, I also found that I didn't need as many artifacts. I still run plenty to help guarantee no Rebirth is dead-in-hand, but 1 less Bauble hasn't hurt me yet in my testing.

It was an easy decision for me to remove the Goblin Chieftans. Sometimes I wouldn't have the land to be able to play one, and I often found they were a "win-more" card. They did occasionally give me lethal on my opponent when the game would have otherwise gone on another turn, but I feel that the fuel generated by Dark Confidant will be more beneficial. (I am considering running 1 Chieftan and 3 Confidants. Thoughts?)

As I mentioned before, the Dark Confidants generate massive fuel for my deck. With my average CMC of .733 (counting lands), Dark Confidant will lose me less life than than Phyrexian Arena, is only 2 CMC, and it has legs! The trade off to running him is tempo for fuel. If i play him, I never run out of cards to play until he is killed, but I never win on turn 3 in the games that involve him. Perhaps 3 will be a better number of Dark Confidants to run?
