Kyle Smasher, the Fierce Chosen

Commander / EDH

Maybeboard

This Nekusar variant uses green mana to get land early and in large amounts so it can go through a few handcycles after another, rather than using copy spells to stack the cycles up. It needs a few more bits of card advantage and removal for me to consider it to be super strong but it holds its own. In terms of removal and counterspells, I have opted mostly for bouncing spells and permanents to feed the hand cycles.

It's a pretty straightforward deck as far as it goes, if it doesnt win through damage from draw it can draw itself out with Laboratory Maniac on the field. As opposed to Nekusar variants with white, this deck cuts down on the amount of long term draw, it focuses on sustaining mass card draw over one or two turns, allowing sorcery speed enchantments, artifacts, or creatures to be cast between cycles. With that it does have a weakness in the lack of white as board wipes are very seldom, something other variants use to their advantage.

Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix is the real star of the deck though as she rewards you for going through a cycle or two in a turn, all for a massive Minds Aglow or Prosperity to end the game. Store her excess mana with Kruphix, God of Horizons, or capitalize on the hand cycles with The Gitrog Monster whilst ensuring you can feed his upkeep. She also has a great synergy with...

Paradox Engine, a key piece as there are a fair few tap effects that it can gel with, otherwise it can make hand cycles self sufficient given you have been able to get enough artifact ramp into play. Ghirapur Orrery makes sure my opponents don't just dump hand, but also with Horn of Greed and draw pain it creates a pretty reliable damage source, the same goes for Rites of Flourishing. Burgeoning is another way that this deck can capitalize from the fact that people are encouraged to play extra land with their well stocked hands. Splendid Reclamation allows you to shift gear the turn after a couple of cycles. To aid that spell more fetch lands will be added with time as they gell well with Life from the Loam (as well as strategically dredging it on draw or handcycle). It can let you restock your hand for a bigger Whispering Madness, the newly printed Shadow of the Grave works well in this regard too.

This is a fun deck to pilot, and it's proving to have a good track record although, like alot of my decks, evasive creatures are it's weakness. More removal may be necessary, maybe just better pieces altogether.
