I like it, its not bad. I think if I were to make a change it would be 4 dissolve and 2 downfall rather than the opposite. I think Id try to slide Jace's Ingenuity somewhere.

Hmmm.... Y'know, I'm not entirely opposed to doing a cut of 3 and 3 split there with Dissolve and Hero's Downfall...
If Ingenuity would make it in there, it might be in place of the one-of Prognostic Sphinx in my opinion. Would you agree?

+1 id use some fetch lands in here and have you considered making this modern to use an infinite mana combo with villainous wealth

Thanks, shadow63, I do run a set of Polluted Delta fetches in this deck, if that's what you mean.
I don't play Modern right now, mainly just Standard and some EDH. I appreciate the tip, though, and thanks for your +1!

Hey there,
Just playtested the deck in real life and it looks to be very fun. I been lookin for a top 8 deck killer in these colors that not a whip deck and not full on wealth control. Some playtest I didn't even need the wealth to win. In this deck its more of a lemon juice on the wound utility card. When I first saw it, it looked viable, but the computer's shuffle made it suck. I figured just from the comments theres no way it sucks that bad. I will defenitely be playing this when I get the rest of the cards for fnm. This also looks like a good staging deck for the new set coming out. Yeah change a card here or there and you'll have a deck ready to take on the dragons of reforged.

Hey, thanks for testing it out. Through the testing, did you see anything you thought could be switched out? Anything missing? Anything in the mainboard that you think should be in the side?
It is a very fun deck.
I will say, from the new set coming out, I'm really looking forward to the new black (conditional) sweeper (where you choose dragons or non-dragons). I kind of think that's going to be a 3-of in this deck. That, along with AEtherspouts, should keep me clean until I hit a Wealth.
The longest question I've been having while playing this deck is that it seems I side in Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver in game 2 more often than not....which makes me think I should have him main deck....but never know what to make that switch for.
Again, thanks, and I'm glad you like this deck enough to consider making it!

the other thing this deck is looking forward to from FRF is Monastery Siege. it is going to be the perfect addition to all control builds and might signal handedly eliminate tempo based strategies from being standard viable.

Appreciate the comment Loco
The only card in question is the Kruphix guy. Off all the cards in this deck he's the only one who doesn't effect the game immediately. For me when he has come up through DTT, Jace, or Charm, out of those draws he's always last on the list and discarded. Maybe Ugin could find a home in that slot when he comes out. I been going over scenerios in my head for what would be the best in this position. I would feel something life linkie or controlling would work best, or even something protected thats effective towards putting pressure towards the player. Have you considered Archetype of Endurance who works right in line with Extinguish All Hope, I doubt anybody see's that coming, even Clever Impersonator for copying wincons. .
Ashiok is a man handler anyway she goes. One could mill the player out when teamed with the wealth. The question is how she comes in. I've dropped her in game early and recked a players whole game plan, but on the other hand she becomes cannon fader when running into a team thats already in play and goes after her. To me with all the business going on, she seems right where she should be. I built u/b based around keeping her in play became the only reason besides the pearl lake ancient as to my wins. To me she changes the decks tactic which depends on what shes up against. 1st game I think should be all about the wealth and kiora, and everyone else help to push them through or win for them.

I appreciate the input.
I used to run 2x Dictate of Karametra. I had another player on here open me up to the idea of trading out one Dictate for the Kruphix God. Reasons:
1: It's another way of building up mana for big things like Wealth, In Garruk's Wake, Garruk, Apex Predator and Silence the Believers.
2: Dictate (can) helps my opponents as well, so Kruphix would be a nice alternative to one-sided mana acceleration.
3: With Coursers, Caryatids, Kiora and maybe even a Dictate out there, I have an indestructible creature that's activated if needed.
I like the variance, really. Considering it's the same CMC as a Dictate, I thought this was a sound trade-out.
Granted, if I cast him out when I only have 5 mana, then you're right, I'm not able to store anything right away. But next turn, that's when I slowly start storing mana into him. In two turns, my colorless stored mana could be 10+, and it's one-sided, not helping my opponent out, and it makes for a good wealth.
Perhaps it's because you've opted to pitch him or something during a DTT, but give him a try once or twice and see what he can do for you if he sticks.
And I think your advice is sound...Ashiok can stay in the side even if she comes in every 2nd game...so far, that equation works, so no need to mess with it.

Does everyone hate Altar of the Brood now or something?
January 6, 2015 7:29 p.m.
In your maybe board, there is suddenly a Silumgar, the Drifting Death, why not go for Medomai the Ageless?Extra turns, in a deck that wants so much ramp, and can carry over mana, why not? I know it's only vaguely evasive having only flying, but with all the board wipe, and ability to keep pace with mid range(generally). I can see it doing quite a bit of work.

Good points to what your saying. I hang out with arron birchs team and they all play aggressive decks that keep most decks on their toes. So I pilot ur deck very aggressively because of this when I play it leaving horizon feeling left out.. Now when handling mid range so far I have have enough breathing room to flex some muscle. Pro decks are very unforgiving to this deck if it taps out or has no answers to back up horizon.

LOL, no worries, Hyren123!
CapitonMurfish, sounds like you run with a cool crew! I suppose when you say "aggressively," it shines a little but of added light to your perspective. I suppose it's really a toss-up between the two. There's times when the god's good (mid-to-late game), and if you think about it, Dictate is good around the time as well. Dropping a Dictate too early means that my opponent makes use of the extra mana as well...and it may help them drop that earlier Elspeth that their 5 lands weren't allowing them to do, y'know?
I think both cards have points, lol, and I think that's why I'm running one of each for now.
The cards in my maybeboard...really can't wait to start testing those out in here to see if they have a place, and I think they might.
Really happy that you've thought enough of this deck to pilot it a few times, Capiton! I appreciate that. I'll always be eager to hear how it's doing for you as you play it. I'm not too proud to not take in more advice in helping this deck get better. Considering it's my highest +1'd deck here on TappedOut, I feel like I'm doing good things. The deck has some allure to it consider, as much of a home brewer I am, typically playing a diff deck every two weeks, this one has held my attention for months now...
January 6, 2015 10:44 p.m.
Come to think of it though, you are running a full playset of Sylvan Caryatid, you could probably swing the one white for one of those Medomai the Ageless in this deck. I know that's less than ideal, but that is also part of the power of the caryatid.
I'm picking up a few cards that i need to be able to run this deck, it looks like so much fun. Even if it doesn't win, or win with me piloting it, it'll be one of those decks that even after it fades out of standard, I'll still be playing with my friends in a modern setting.

Awesome, thanks, Hyren123! And yes, it's SO much fun. Throw it up on untap.in or something and see how you like it. Total fun. And the ODD thing is, as I was just talking to my friend about yesterday? This deck DOES win, and I would say it wins close to half or more than half of my matches. However, even the ones I lose? They're actually still fun to lose. This deck is FUN, and it's the most fun deck I've played in a few years. Honestly.

Have you tried running Psychic Intrusion in this deck? I'm considering it for my build, but i fear it will be to slow to be effective.

Ha, I was JUST looking at that card, thinking it would be fun to run. I decided against it for the reason you cited. Could be too slow. I think at that point, is rather run a Thoughtseize.

The mistcutter feels really out of place, when do you usually side it in?

Really??? Holy hell, that's awesome! Please do tell me how it goes and how it can improve as you go along. If it's not trouble, wouldn't mind seeing a review match by match. Any time you could offer with that wouldn't be in vain as I plan on sticking with this deck well through Reforged. This IS m'deck for the foreseeable future.
That's really, really cool to hear from you!

Hi, Nigeltastic, I appreciate the +1.
I feel that AEtherspouts is the right card for me in this deck, but I also agree that Whelming Wave is the better fit for yours. I agree that Wave is a tempo breaker, but at least within this deck, Aetherspouts does some things better:
1: the creatures are gone a bit longer. A few creatures on top of their library stalls their ability to get them all back on the field on the next turn rather than putting them all back into their hand.
2: putting creatures up top stalls them from drawing more spells, especially important ones they may have elected to keep up top after a scry. If they want to put the creatures on the bottom, well then, I don't have to see them for a while.
3: putting creatures on top almost always makes my Villainous Wealth and my Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver even more potent of I drop them on the next turn.
4: to your point regarding the opponent knowing about AEtherspouts in game 2 and playing around it? Great! What's that mean, they just not attack with everyone? Then that's slowing damage to me and I can live with that. Leaving 5 mana up on any turn makes them nervous to swing in, even if I don't have one in hand.
I've considered Wave for this deck once or twice. Perhaps one in the side, but I've always found Aether to do more work for me in this build.
I appreciate the input, though. Always going to consider ways to make this deck better as weeks go on. Thanks so much.
