sure. I really like your idea of Monastery Siege but I think you'd want it for when you know it will be a grindier affair like games 2-3 so maybe +2 of those in the sideboard?

Hey loco pleasure helping u out. Sound like the deck is running smoother.im go this Friday with your update and see what it gets me. I'll give kruhfix another shot but I'm still not completely sold for it. I play tested the update a little and I'm a little torn between two or three Cruz. To me it seems excessive with a ethers pouts but understood. I'm still leaning more to at least 2 blights for early removal.

Why Kruphix?

That's really odd. He's not part of the list. I didn't run him in my FNM night. I had four Downfalls, not three. Methinks I copied/pasted an outdated list when I finally reposted this.

Thanks for the point-out.

I dunno. I didn't run her. I ran 4 Downfalls. Only testing her now for this Friday. Seeing if she's useful. I think she could be. I have enough answers for things in order to protect her. I think all 3 of her modes fits what this deck does....discard for control, tutor for my win-con...bring everything that I killed back to the battlefield....so I want to try her this Friday, replacing 1 Downfall.

So, CapitonMurfish, after two days of testing online against a good number of deck types, I'm going to say that Liliana Vess works very well. Not just in theory, but in testing. When I needed an answer, she put it on top of my deck. I actually used her more as a discard engine, building her up to ultimate all the creatures I've been killing from the graveyards. An unexpected side effect to that ability is that she's not too shabby against the GY strategies like graveyard/Whip.

When needed, I like her ability to drum up a Crux of Fate when I really need to clear the field when things have gotten out of hand...I like her in there. Will be playing with her in the main this Friday.

Ok preciate the info I've been testing by myself going over scenarios so I haven't had a real test on the deck yet. Now I just have to find some ugin and Cruz and I'll be set. I wanna see how this deck goes Friday before I run my analysis one what my opinion is towards testing new ideas that work to the deck.

Hey loco I want to put up my fnms like you have yours so I don't fill up your page. Can you tell me how.

Also I just got back from fnm, went 2-3 would have been 3-2 but I had a player error in one of my games that went to time.

My verdict on this version is that it is still a fun deck and people really think it as a frustrating deck yet, it seems to lack the first game definite (I will win) factor. When I played, it seem to be more like planeswalker control sutai than vw. control. VW was more used as a side effect rather than a wincon for the deck, but thats just me.Yeah especlally for the decks that ran coursers made it easy to choose when to use the wealth for one or two cards of the top..

I have to tweak this for next fnm for the more neifty decks like r/w. I kinda feel that this deck could clutch a victory more decisively than what it should me. And trust me it put a sweat on people's brows everytime I played, except for one game where I was coming out just too slow and got caught on turn 5

I will put the full review when you tell me how to section them like you have.

So This is how it went down

FNM 2-3

Round1 Villian control vs R/W 0-2

Starting off i didn't really do any online research about the new deck that were out there so I played most of my games by ear with the version loco-motive posted.

Game 1
starts off with r/w going first getting to about 3 land to my 2 then he lays down a rabblemaster. I figured no problem, I got kill spells eventually comming so with the time come to kill rabble he become indestructible to most remove I have. This and a couple of well placed eot lightning strikes finished me off. Game 2 was more of the same but went further with kiora which was next turn destroyed and and he rabble again getting protected. Of all cards to stare atwith 5 life left and double rabblemasters as a answer was liliana fetching for a needed drown sorrow. Needless to say Double protection from black and lI lose that round.

Round 2 Villain control vs mardu aggro 1-1-0

Game 1 starts off very simliar to round 1 except this deck was more like a reanimator weenie type. This time Silvians and coursers came out to play. Once I understood the mechanics of the players deck it was more or less picking the right creatures to block and the rights creatures for kiora and the right creatures for removal. Once garrukk hit the field it was open season with 3/3s and 9/9. Game 2 sided out for drowns ashioks and one silumgar. Ended out much the same but didn't and sideboard. Had him on the ropes and ran to time. So thats called a win.

Round 3 Villain control vs R/W again 0-2

This one was more played with the new monk thats out there putting out 1/1 prowless guys. Off course rabbles are comming in with swiftspears and heavy damage is getting racked on me until Cruz comes in. Then in comes aetherspouts for his next rabble. then again, and finally while stuck at five mana vilian the rabble and pheonix out the game. He then plays the monk guy and his next rabble, I have good o lilana pay a uneeded visit to my hand forcing me to fetch for a cruz to stop the impending doom, and the he plugs me with a strike then stoke and coming in with the rabble while I'm tapped out. next game sided all the necessary parts to make this game last. The and started with courser, silvan, 3 land and a down fall. I figured I had a chance. Well again as he killed any blockers and up 1 his creature count as I drew mana and no sideboard. I was ended turn 5.

Round 4 Villain control vs Whip aggro 2-0

Was very sutle as the first couple of turn were land go, and he finally had creatures for my kill spells. He had finally followed up with a whip and and ripped his fatties so the ever awesome aetherspouts/ villainous wealth combo took good care of that game. Game 2 I decided to side in everything but the silumgar and drowns. The game ran on turn 3 ashiok, garukk and counterspells It was most intriquing to see the top card of his library allowing me to see if villainous wealth needed to come in removal anything useful from the game. since most was usually out of my reach to cast.

Round 5 Villain Control vs R/G monsters persay 1-1-0

Game 1 started off pretty strong pushing out mana and keeping counterspells ready for the big hitters since all I was seeing was silvans and coursers , and xenegos on her side. The game lasted long with cruz take the fort and downfalls handling business. Can't quite remember how it when but some kind of way I tapped out to put a force of planes walkers out and then got knockout by a 24/24 flying trampleing hastey dragon on her same turn.Game 2 I believe the only thing needed for this game was thoughtseize and ashiok. Running down to 14 mins in the round the player wanted to end it quick ramping into her flying trample and then doublestriking 6/4 dragon turn 5. Once I knocked that down I finally put out kiora and the gold fang. I never tried him before and thought he wouldn't do much other than be a body but I was impressed. He fits quite firmly in this deck being able to draw up good answers from the graveryard. So kiora ultimates and I miss a trigger while we are in turns. So I end up with 2 9/9 gold fang and ashoik with 3 loyalty counters and everything on her is above her cost and we are on my last turn. She had 2 blockers which I reduced to 1 off of gold fang and swung for 13. I was a sad panda because she was at 15.

What I learned:
The deck was fun when it had or made breathing room to play. In my opinion it is not well equipped to handle a R/W aggro combinations. The ones I played against were either too fast, too strong, or too heavy with protection spells all within the first 4 turns and unlike red aggro white has many more options of winnin'. There was just to many indestructible and protection spells from forged and the standard sets to keep up with the removal. Which means for me I have to travel down a different avenue in my local fnm with this deck. Yeah it works and beats, but in some games as mentioned before is missing that first game gottcha factor against fast synergy decks. I don't want to put drowns in mainboard and room has to be made for bile blights. So now I am going to venture further into forge and find some card advantage combos that turn up to consistency of this deck while cutting the other player down so there doesn't have to be such a long wait time for the first game to begin woopin on people.

sorry if some of my words are confusing, I was on my phone writing things out and didn't read back over it.

February 8, 2015 7:16 p.m.

wasnt double protection, Game 1, it was a double of the indestructible until the end of turn with a plus 1 counter spell.

Hey, CapitonMurfish, looks like your night wasn't quite the mirror of good fortune that I had.

I think the clear distinction between your night and my night was I faced a majority of mid-range decks, of which Wealth is very good against, and you faced more aggro decks, of which this deck can potentially struggle with. You saw that I went against a mono-red aggro that gave me some trouble and, oddly enough, I lost the second match after a sideboard instead of losing the first match.

The interesting thing is, I think if I had Bile Blight in the main board, it wouldn't have helped me too much in my other three matches other than taking down one of their Elvish Mystics (yay...). I like the ability to wipe out things when behind like an AEtherspouts and Crux of Fate, and I guess I feel like I always had a Crux right when I needed one, keeping three of them in the main (along with 2 Aetherspouts). That's 3 "sweepers" right there, along with an Ugin, and I feel pretty good about keeping the board clear.

Now granted, I didn't face a R/W which will give their creatures a lot more protections, so that may have led to your tough night. However, what you may have noticed in my FNM summary is that Villainous Wealth didn't really win me any games outright. It was my planewalkers (and in a rare case where their board is clear, from my Coursers continuing to slowly pound damage in.

Wondering...when you ran into getting your removal or Kiora nullified by a Feat of Resistance or a Gods Willing, did you ever run into a scenario where you had a Kiora out on the board AND a kill spell in your hand and, if so, did you ever try to ping their creature with Kiora first, have them respond with protection from G or U, and THEN hit them with a Hero's Downfall or something? I've done that a few times in the past where I'd tease their protections out early.

I guess the reason I've taken Bile Blight out from the deck completely is because of the heroic decks I've been seeing where creatures get pumped up beyond the -3 / -3 threshold, and Bile becomes a useless card in my hand. Drown in Sorrow isn't there for the heroic decks either...just purely for the tokens.

Many thanks, Jdvanliew, and I appreciate the +1 ya passed on to it!

I actually had AEtherspouts in here originally, then took it out for a brief week or two, and wonderful, helpful, awesome TappedOut users came on here and asked what the f*** I was doing and that I needed to put it back in here. I love the feedback and critiques within this community!

Hey loco

I appreciate the comments toward my night. I did come across those situations with kiora in my longer matches, but those instances were few and far in between. I feel bile blights work due to the cheaper casting for it. In a lot of chances, I feel that had I been stuck at 5 mana I could have went further in my r/w match ups comboing out to a creature/kill spell, or kill spell/kill spell or planeswalker leading into a kill spell. In other words, the cheaper the kill spell early game, the more could be done at one time. I as a controlling player would rather a player waste a spell in defense than to further their advance. I also think you may have forgotten your handy technique of swinging into a overpowered creature with a bile in hand. I think this would have been a different screnio against the rabbler giving the player the option of choosing green or black to protect from and fearing two colors as the game would progress. I've been testing since for some more aggro types cards to pull into this deck, and let me ask you have you consider Rakshasa Deathdealer. She is to me a nip tuck fit to this deck. Your probably wondering what to do about taking out for her. What I see is

-Liliana

-Silence the Believers

-1 Courser of kruphix or 1 Silvan

Mana ratio changes a little to compensate...

-1 island+ 2 swamp-1 Mystery+ Malady-2 Opulent Palace+ 1 forest

Benefits:

Lives through damage

Lives through the Crux of Fate

lives through biles and Drowns

teamed with Bile or Drowns could become a Overbearing 6/6 or 7/7 to a unknowing blocker.

Lives through burn

If protected turns on a 5 turn clock.

A well rounded potential 4/4 finisher.

If you get a chance, test it for me before friday, to see if it makes a good addition. I don't have anyone to test with.
