Here's my take on Legacy land destruction:
It's just another unfair deck - get over it. TES can kill you on turn two - this deck won't.
This deck aims to combat other decks by keeping them off of their land until they dry up, and then infect with Phyrexian Crusader and
Septic Rats
for game. The Rats are nice because they get bigger when they attack if the opponent is already infected. The Crusader is nasty because he's pro-white and pro-red, which is a large chunk of removal in Legacy, not to mention he has first strike.
We have 24 tools of land destruction at our fingertips - Wasteland really shines against just about everything, Sinkhole is a great undercosted land kill, and all the other spells are 3cmc land killers with
Pillage
hitting artifacts if necessary. Tectonic Edge usually doesn't do a whole lot here, since the opponent doesn't often have four or more lands, but it's there and it's in-theme.
The deck utilizes a small amount of removal, in four Terminate and four
Shrivel
. Terminate is great for when I'm on the draw and my opponent gets off a turn one Delver or something. Unfortunately doesn't hit Nimble Mongoose, but Shrivel takes care of that if it hasn't met threshold. Shrivel also wrecks TES going for Empty the Warrens rather than Tendrils.
The sideboard turns this into a much more disruption and removal heavy deck, with the Lightning Bolts! serving as removal 9-11, and Thoughtseize and Hymn to Tourach stripping the opponent's hand. Finally, if I manage to Hymn or Thoughtseize my opponent's win con or an otherwise vital card, I can immediately Surgical Extraction it and strip it from their deck, hand, and graveyard entirely. Leyline of the Void and Grafdigger's Cage are standard dredge-hate, which IMO is one qualification for being a legacy deck (lol). Leyline of Sanctity is a strange choice here, and thinking about it, I may want to drop the Tec Edges for either Gemstone Mine or City of Brass just in case I board in the Leyline but don't get it opening hand.
