I play a similar deck and think Solidarity of Heroes is a must in at least 3. Also check out Increasing Savagery. I target Gyre Sage with this so that your hydras come in chunky.

Smeltz45, that is a card I have been considering for a while, the only reason I don't add it is because I would want to cast my 2 drop on turn 2, but with that it would not enter with counters since I would not have other creatures with counters yet. and while it may be good to play later, I have bigger things with much more counters I would want to play later

It feels like the high mana costs would be the issue with this deck, try adding Utopia Sprawl+Arbor Elf also I feel Hardened Scales should be in this deck over Solidarity of Heroes also drop Putrefy for Maelstrom Pulse. If you so choose to go the route of Utopia Sprawl with a few other cards you can ramp into Doubling Season

Cavern of Souls could be played main board to open on sideboard slots
September 9, 2016 10:50 a.m.
I would play Protean Hydra over Endless One because its a hydra that sticks around. also furthering the purpose of Cavern of Souls

total_euphoria, I am already considering those cards, which is why they are already in my maybeboard. Thanks anyways

What do you think of Predator Ooze in your deck? It puts a LOT of pressure on your opponent before you even have a chance to set up board-state and blanks a lot of removal in multiplayer metas.
I can clearly see why you don't run Gyre Sage, but I would be interested to hear your thoughts on it. In my opinion you're right in running Birds of Paradise, but it's still an interesting discussion to have.
Otherwise I like your deck, and am happy to give you a thumbs-up! Maybe if you have the time, you could take a gander at The Mists of Resurgence.

Armorcraft Judge in case you want more card draw but not really necessary
Bramblewood Paragon and/or Crowned Ceratok would make sure all these creatures have trample, which is very important as it makes you swing quicker. Battlefront Krushok would be really mean in combo with that.
Fungal Behemoth could be an interesting core piece as any counters on himself also add again on this power and toughtness
i would also suggest Rogue's Passage just for more pressure, i am always into ability-lands.
Fertilid could fasten your game early but might be a kinda dead draw in the lategame.

also, you have it in your maybeboard, Death's Presence is good imO. though you lack the sac-outlet to trigger it yourself, it will make an enemy think twice about destroying some of your creatures

ok sorry forgot Undergrowth Champion. although he loses a counter any time he gets damage he is semi-immortal and could work nice with said Fertilid. I hope i'm not spamming you

How has Hangarback Walker been working for you? I'm debating if I should add it to my deck or Verdurous Gearhulk.

DarkStarStorm, In an earlier version of this deck I did run a few Predator Oozes, I completely agree that it does put a lot of pressure on the opponent early on, and the indestructible is really nice, the only problem is the mana cost. Obviously 3 mana isn't bad, but the fact it cost 3 GREEN mana specifically was sometimes a problem, and frequently not there on turn 3 as would be hoped. I often consider putting a couple back in though.
As for Gyre Sage, as you said you probably already guessed it, but by the time he is really big, he is big because I played my bigger creatures. And if I already have my bigger creatures, I no longer really need him. Not that having him tap for a ton of mana late game is bad, but it is not needed at that point for the one job I would want it to do, which is playing my bigger creatures earlier.
I took a look at your The Mists of Resurgence deck. I do like it, you got a +1 from me!
Sgt_St0n3r, I have long been considering adding blue to this deck, and have looked at Master Biomancer in particular. The reasons I do not are because, while he is a good card, I would need to also add more spells that could place +1/+1 counters on creatures that do not already have them when they ETB, to fully utilize his ability (Though Bioshift is an easy solution to this and also has versatility in other scenarios in this deck...) I suppose my final excuse is I don't want to bother with a 3 colour mana base :P
Xerexsus, Champion of Lambholt is another card that did once have a place in this deck, and I did not take it out because it did not do it's job, in fact it did it's job amazingly well, however I came to the realization that it did not matter that my 184/184 Hydra with TRAMPLE was now unblockable. You can see why in that situation it was a little silly. I know not all the creatures in this deck have Trample, but enough do that I felt like I was wasting the ability.
Trveheimer, I have not had problems with needing card draw yet, and while Armorcraft Judge does interact with +1/+1 counters as is the theme of the deck, there are no shortage of black spells I could run for card draw at the cost of life that would be better.
Bramblewood Paragon, Crowned Ceratok, and Battlefront Krushok are all good suggestions, but enough creatures in this deck already have Trample that I feel these would be redundant.
Fungal Behemoth is interesting, and can be very powerful, I will think about that one.
Rogue's Passage isn't in this deck for the same reason I no longer run Champion of Lambholt. Being unblockable is unnecessary when your 184/184 Hydra already has trample.
Fertilid isn't really needed, I've never really felt the need to add more ramp beyond the 4 Birds of Paradise.
Undergrowth Champion is great and is a card I have been considering, guess I forgot to put it in the Maybeboard.
Don't worry about the spamming, I forget things all the time.
HydraOoze, I would love to answer your question, just as much as I would love to know the answer and draw the freaking card. I have not drawn or been able to play Hangarback Walker in any games I have played since adding it. I do see why you are considering Verdurous Gearhulk, I have been considering it as well. I will let you know how Hangarback Walker performs when I finally see it in action.

I don't know if someone has already mentioned this but I would consider switching Ruinous Path for Hero's Downfall.

littlestavie do you mean Ruinous Path for Maelstrom Pulse? I do not run Hero's Downfall in this deck. If that is what you meant, I understand where you are coming from. The Awaken ability works well in this deck, but Maelstrom Pulse hits artifacts and enchantments as well as creatures and planeswalkers, which is very relevant. That and it hoses down Token decks. I have been considering switching these 2 cards though, and will still consider putting a couple Ruinous Paths in, but not at the cost of Maelstrom Pulses.

littlestavie, just realized what you meant now. Either way I don't actually run ruinous path, it's just in the maybeboard because the awaken cost can be relevant in this deck.

I run a kalonian hydra deck too. You want to really smash the competition, put lightning greaves in there. I run 4 of them, it wins me games every single tourney.

Nice deck!! I had a deck like this for a bit. I had an alternative win condition with Bioshift and Walking Archive for a one turn mill out.
Plus, Walking Archive helps you draw.

any consideration for newer cards? Walking Ballista and\or Winding Constrictor seem like good options

plusARGON I am in fact considering cutting 2 Hangarback Walkers for 2 Walking Ballistas. I will probably make that switch when I get my hands on 2 Walking Ballistas. As for Winding Constrictor, I am not interested in it for the same reasons I do not care for Hardened Scales. The extra 1 counter is really insignificant in this deck when counters are being doubled again and again.

Hello!
This deck is awesome, but your curve for it is rather weird. You definitely want more ramp and draw, as well as just making your curve a bit better.
First off, I would get rid of all copies of Essence Harvest and Solidarity of Heroes. It's also my opinion you get rid of the all the Endless Ones because hydras/Hangarback Walkers are way better x-spell cards.
If you want to heavily improve your deck by adding ramp/speed, Devoted Druid is an insanely good card for this deck, because whenever a +1/+1 counter is placed on a creature, the -1/-1 counter is removed, thus giving you an absolutely nuts amount of mana. Another insanely good ramp card for you is Gyre Sage, for similar reasons.
I would replace your two Darksteel Plates with 2 Inspiring Calls. You need card draw, and call's global indestructibility is just so much better. Use it as a combat trick, or to save creatures from board wipe. You could probably even replace a few Alpha Authoritys with this card as well.
If you do go with the changes here, I would try to add in Servant of the Scale to your one drop spot (removing 3 primordial hydra and 1 Managorger Hydra and replace your Solidarity of Heroes with Strength of the Tajuru. Why? because with the new changes there are more cards that start with just a few counters, thus strength of Tajuru is better to target individuals. Also, it's a more productive X-spell than primordial hydra or the insane cost Solidarity has. Tajuru is just more flexible.
I say a lot of changes, probably too much, but I have to recommend the mana ramp creatures at the very least, and adding either Servant of the Scale or Hardened Scales so you have 8 one-drops instead of four.
Cool deck!
