Assault Formation will be rotating out soon, but it isn't done yet. Eldrich is bringing in several new cards that can help the deck shine. I've modified my Abzan version of the deck and put together this draft. Please comment and let me know what you think!
(This will be a budget deck, once the price of Tree of Perdition drops. Declaration in Stone can be slotted out for other removal, see below. Dragonlord Dromoka is good but not central to the deck.)
For a review of some of the basic mechanics of this deck, please go take a look at my in depth discussion here: Unstoppawall - SOI Standard Abzan Combo Budget
Amazing green one drops
Jaddi Offshoot
: efficient life gain (might be one of the first to go however)
Permeating Mass
STAR CARD! With Formation in play, this essentially has deathtouch, and if not, it will neutralize the opponent until you get there. Also bypasses death triggers.
Loam Dryad
2/2 mana dork. Helps with ramp and mana fixing.
Beautiful 2-3 creatures
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim
Solid and fits perfectly. Sac a doomed creature for profit.
Fortified Rampart
6/6 for 2 mana? yes please.
Lone Rider
Need to test this in play, but the 3 life gain should not be hard and it makes the rider VERY efficient. First strike and trample is a great combination.
Bygone Bishop
We are playing a lot of cheap creatures. This helps us stabilize the air as a 3/3 and gets us card advantage. STAR.
Top of the Curve
Tree of Perdition 13/13! Yay! Tap the opponent down to 13 then hit for 13 next turn. If we had a Defiant Bloodlord and
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim
then there is a fun combo of tap tree and sac with Ayli, win. Too many pieces to make it reliable however.
Dragonlord Dromoka 7/7 flier with powerful card text.
Win Condition
Felidar Sovereign
Needs testing to see how often we can get to 40
Behind the Scenes
play this to make our creatures unblockable.
Utility
Assault Formation The cornerstone of the deck.
Shape the Sands
cheap effective combat trick.
Give No Ground
combos with Formation and can wipe an entire attacking army, BUT is so damn costly. Will need to test it.
Lots of removal options, including Declaration in Stone, Ultimate Price,
Silkwrap
, Anguished Unmaking, more. Blessed Alliance needs testing but might work well here, especially with lone rider.
Ulvenwald Mysteries beats Evolutionary Leap for extra card advantage in this deck, as our creatures are sometimes dying to our own sac's.
Providence
is OK. Gets Ayli close to 30+ fast, but just doesn't seem quite worth the slots in the deck
