Maybeboard

Hello!

Lazav, the Multifarious is here and hes MAD! he will one shot you, your brother, and your pet fish who may or may not be dead already. Another black deck I know, crazy ain't it it, like its my favorite color, I'm not edgy I swear.

An Overview

This is a deck I have wanted to make for a while and guess what, I did and it turns out its pretty good so I might as well share the list because it was not easy making a good balance of control, discard, and good creatures that kill people. As a forewarning you will probably notice this deck is most definitely not budget so that said any suggestions no matter the price within obvious restrictions are good.

The clear purpose of this deck is to one shot them, that's it, the whole kaboom, you kill them deader. but first we need a lot of things to happen before we get there, I'm going to go through a lot of the card categorizes and say when you should play them or what you would be doing with them because this deck is often confusing.

This will have two sections, one for people who will one-shot opponents and the other being the one combo in the deck. First off, one shots:

Mortivore, Nighthowler, Phage the Untouchable, Vector Asp, and best of all Phyrexian Dreadnought and Wall of Blood.

All of these cards will be the ones you get to one shot with either infect from Vector Asp and Tainted Strike, just straight up with 21 cmdr dmg or of course Phage the Untouchable. Along with any of the many unblock able guys in the deck makes this the main win-con.

But of course in multiplayer games you may need to kill more than that. That's why we have a combo.

Necrotic Ooze, Phyrexian Devourer, Triskelion

Having all three of these guys in the grave or necrotic on the board with the other two in the grave gives you a massive amount of dmg to dish out equal to the amount of total CMC in the deck, so for this one around 195 total in the deck but this number will vary based on hand what you have played and such so always keep in mind how much dmg you can do. If there are enough player where you can not kill them all with this it might help to swing Lazav, the Multifarious, make him unblock able then once past blockers start the combo but keep the counters on him. Then you will kill one player with the attack and have more CMC DMG to dish out to the other players. obviously you want to do this combo whenever possible and This combo is easily turned on by Buried Alive.

We need the creatures in the grave to do the damage so we have a lot of ways to get them there. I will have three differnt sections for this. Play these cards when you need to but mostly early, the faster we can threaten a kill the better.

Tutors: Entomb, Buried Alive, Final Parting, Corpse Connoisseur, and Intuition (when I add it)

These ones are the best ones for obvious reasons they complete the combo or give you the last creature you need in the grave to one shot. The do make you and Lazav the target very fast so try and do these the turn before a win or one shot. Or as early as possible if you want to end it fast and make sure it does not get countered.

Wheels: Jace's Archivist, Whispering Madness, Windfall, Ancient Excavation

These cards can be good and bad, depending on the situation but creatures into the grave is something we need and wheels do just that. But there is one combo her that works with almost all of the wheels in this deck. Notion Thief and any wheel that makes opponents wheel as well making you draw a bunch and them lose there hands.

Lastly, normal discard outlets, the least interesting but the most important:

Careful Study, Cephalid Coliseum, Cephalid Inkshrouder, Discovery / Dispersal, Fact or Fiction, Frantic Search, Geier Reach Sanitarium, Liliana of the Veil, Merfolk Looter, Search for Azcanta  , Thought Courier.

Not all of these are discard "outlets" but get cards into the grave one way or another.

Small sections of Creatures with very important functions weather it be protecting Lazav of making him unblock able.

unblock able: Blighted Agent, Dimir House Guard, Dimir Infiltrator, Invisible Stalker, Slither Blade, Wharf Infiltrator, Nether Traitor, Cephalid Inkshrouder.

Many of these card also have other functions like Cephalid Inkshrouder, Dimir House Guard and Dimir Infiltrator but still get the job done.

Protection: of Lazav: Bontu the Glorified, Cephalid Inkshrouder, Glen Elendra Archmage, Invisible Stalker, Spellskite, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Kefnet the Mindful, Mortivore

Indestructible, hexproof and persist all keep Lazav nice and happy

Other cool techs: Maralen of the Mornsong (lets you tutor without opponents doing it as well), Notion Thief, Phyrexian Obliterator

Finally

That's the basic card list minus a few because I'm sure you all know what counter spells and other basic cards do. This deck can end 1v1 games very fast and still be a huge threat in multiplayer games. One problem I ran in is lack of life gain. This deck is susceptible of being smacked in the face and using its life a a resource too much. Any suggestion to solution would help immensely and well any suggestion in general would help as well. Cards in the maybe board right now are cards that are going into the deck but I have not bought yet.
