Wild Mongrel and Putrid Imp are absolute powerhouses. They enable the discarding of large creatures. Basking Rootwalla is a no brainer when the mongrel is involved. Many of the large monsters save for the devastating Ulamog's Crusher can be cycled for benefit if the discard engines don't make it.
Pauper has two good unearth spells in Exhume (for the fatties), and Unearth to bring back the discard engines or to bring the back breaking beats via Putrid Leech.
The deck has changed a lot since I first added it a few weeks ago. I've decided to go with a creature heavy main-deck and a board full of killspells, and removal.
My only issue as of now is keeping my life afloat enough and out of kill range while still being able to pump my leeches and pitch my wraiths. Considering Maindecking bindle boar and 2 Gnaw to the Bone.
Call to the Netherworld is a pretty big power-house, as i've realized. It lets me do some nasty tricks with my Wild Mongrel, makes Putrid Leech a viable card to pitch once in a pinch, recycle Street Wraith or reuse one as mongrel/imp fodder.
Sideboard:
Gnaw to the Bone - Cheap life gain to use against Mono-Red or any opponent that hits hard quickly.
Fog - Bait alpha strikes from Infect or other aggro decks.
Geth's Verdict- Double black is a little hard but can ease the pressure an enemy is putting on. Bleed them for one and can be used to respond to another creature hitting play.
Relic of Progenitus - for use against Songs combo and anyone else abusing their graveyard.
Tragic Slip - Knocks out weenies and utility creatures, use it to respond to infect pumps, or let something trade/die and knock out a bigger target.
Vines of Vastwood - for use in protecting crusher and tusker. Or shutting off infect.
Other cards as potential Maindeck-Chittering Rats - Great disruption, solid Unearth target]], can be picked back up with Call to the Netherworld.
Brindle Boar- Unearth target, gains me life in a pinch, decent blocker.
Snuff Out/Dark Withering- enables me to kill things largely for free that are nonblack. Only issue is that it is targeted.Innocent Blood- I don't really mind losing a guy to anything.
