Play report —May 6, 2016
Yesterday I had 3 tests runs with the deck versus 1) Kaalia gone wild and a Rafiq of the Many, 2) We only come out at night and a Karador, Ghost Chieftain and 3) We only come out at night and a Rafiq of the Many deck.
The Leeching Cotton: Oloro's Couch deck won match 2 and 3 and were very close to winning the 1st match. Over the course of 3 games I only drew one tutor :(
Game 1 - vs Kaalia and Rafiq
Started out strong with The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale and Land Equilibrium in hand, generating hate as soon as they hit the table. Later I got set up with Rest in Peace and Energy Field (after the Rafiq player countered my Web of Inertia and a Paradox Haze). I was draining them slow with Triskaidekaphobia, but got hit hard by an overloaded Cyclonic Rift and the Rafiq player finished both of us off in one round.
Game 2 - vs Olivia and Kandor
Had a very hard start of the game with mulligan down to 5 cards (3 lands and both leylines). Drawing into Blind Obedience, Aura of Silence, and Oblivion Ring I was open for beatdown, and Kaalia hit me hard putting in Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Oros, the Avenger and Admonition Angel keeping focus on me. Manage to exile Avacyn, Angel of Hope followed up by Rafiq player throwing an overloaded Cyclonic Rift releasing her agin. Kaalia comes back and put Oros, the Avenger back on the field. Re-exile avacyn and use Clever Impersonator to match the Dragon. Heat now goes towards the Kandor player. Thinking that it is all over I draw Humility and the table is turned. Opponents having/finding no responses I finish them off with my Celestial Colonnade and Creeping Tar Pit. Yeah, aparently that is a thing :)
Game 3 - vs Olivia and Rafiq
Mulligan down to 5, ending up with 5 lands in hand thinking what the heck - they are pretty good. Drawing pretty well and holding my ground (causing the We only come out at night to scoop in round 6 * ). I have Vile Consumption and Palace Siege (and some other stuff) in play putting a slow tax on the Rafiq player, but he is way ahead with life and has me down to 6 life passing the turn... and I draw into Moat shuting down all his creatures. Feeling a bit more relaxed I draw a Nevermore and names Bane of Progress (he allready used Cyclonic Rift) and the victory was secured. Ended the game with a board state of around 20 enchantments :)
*) The poor guy had almost no responses to the wall of enchantments and (mistakenly) put a Exquisite Blood in play... I followed up with a Tainted Remedy killing all hope for him.
Quite fun to play and fits my play style perfectly.
I think that I may have been too focused on TOTAL synergy in the deck. There will be times where it makes sense to have a Replenish in hand (i.e., when I did not draw/tutor Rest in Peace) and also Enduring Ideal could have its merit (i.e., when I don't draw/tutor Land Equilibrium early game.
Also Karmic Justice was a really nice card to have on the table in game 2, as it was never feasible for the Kandor player to play Bane of Progress.
Cheers

Also won a game with Miss Coupon never pays the retail price with Mizzix in the command zone (got killed 3 times) top-decking Past in Flames allowing me to go infinite with Reiterate (in hand) + Mana Geyser (in graveyarad, and opponents had 16 tapped lands) + a Fall of the Titans (in graveyard) shooting both opponents for ~1000 while still having 1 hp left myself (survived the previous turn by flashing in Dualcaster Mage stopping Rafiq).
Also won a game with The Dirty Dozen getting out a turn 4 Doubling Season and a turn 5 Narset Transcendent -> Emblem "Do not cast non-creature spells".
Good times

I've decided on the following 'last minute' changes while assembling the deck:
Changes
- Supreme Verdict --> The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale (yeah, it's so good that I can drop an Supreme Verdict. Punishes the opponents creatures and let me sack my Academy Rector.)
- Bloodchief Ascension --> Forbid (out due to lack of synergy with Rest in Peace and in to protect me versus destroy all enchantments effects)
- Opalescence --> Mana Drain (Narrow combo out, control and ramp in)
- Cyclonic Rift --> Triskaidekaphobia (I should not be using Cyclonic Rift on a single target, and I want a mana lockdown before I can overload it, so it's one of the auto-includes in blue, that I will not be playing with. Also good to leave out, when I plan to name it with Nevermore)
- In the Eye of Chaos --> Force of Will: Bringing in more counter spells (much more versatile vs. the threats I need to defend aginst) makes eye of chaos a liability.
- Painful Quandary --> Pact of Negation: Considering that I am trying to stall the game, people will have cards to discard. The card is good with Bloodchief Ascension, but now that is out, it does not carry it's weight.
- Aura Thief --> Celestial Dawn: Thief can only be killed during upkeep and requires Enchanted Evening to be in play... it is a bit situational and a big liability while waiting for my upkeep (can loose me the game). Celestial Dawn is a great mana fixer and also protects aginst Blood Moon.
In short: More hard control versus various threats (e.g., Blood Moon, Bane of Progress) and less elegance.

So I'm thinking the land base could need an upgrade.
- Swamp --> Reflecting Pool
- Plains --> Maze of Ith
If I bring in Crucible of Worlds (but what to take out?) I should also run

I take it from the description that you don't want people to attack you?

I Guess you are right. I do play some random kitchentable, but I mainly play EDH and draft, so guess I'll try and sell it agin.
Just noted that I forgot to put Underground Sea in the deck. Silly me.

This deck without Opalescence just seems irrelevant. I don't mean that to be disrespectful but since you have Enchanted Evening, you might as well blow up lands. If you want to be extra greedy about it, throw in an anthem effect to give creatures you control +1/+1 so that your lands don't die to the effect. It's not fast, but at least it give a minor challenge to your deck.

@jettskawhirl I am playtesting the deck for the first time tomorrow. I'm sure I can win more consistently without Opalescence and Aura Thief, but games will drag out and the opponents will probably give up after lockdown has been achieved.
That being said, I will bring both Aura Thief and Opalescence just in case :)
Not sure I would ever run an anthem in this deck, since it would be a dead card most of the time.

MrHighscore True, you don't run enough creatures for an anthem. However, Good luck anyway! :)

MrHighscore Another thing, if you like longer games,Dovescape would be great side card if you want to mess with opponents. It's great with Humility

Lol - with Palace Siege/Subversion/Triskaidekaphobia/Underworld Dreams on the table and Dovescape + Humility + Night of Souls' Betrayal it is game over. A bit harder to pull off than Enchanted Evening + Opalescence , but still pretty fun.

So Opalescence main function is as a permanent land cleaner in combination with Enchanted Evening. It's a bit of an odd combo, and I am planning on taking it out since the card high risk on its own.
