Mono-black zombie deck focused on dealing direct damage to my opponent via sacrificing my own creatures.

Blood Artist + Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar is the kill shot.

Carrion Feeder + Gravecrawler

Gravecrawler + Skullclamp in case my hand stalls

Phyrexian Altar / Carrion Feeder + Geralf's Messenger + Lord of the Undead for recurring damage each turn

Phyrexian Altar/Carrion Feeder + Grave Pact + Gravecrawler for significant creature removal and to set up a possible kill shot/heavy hit with the buffed Carrion Feeder that turn.

Crypt Ghast and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for cycling Gravecrawler or Geralf's Messenger in and out of the graveyard efficiently and Crypt Ghast's exploit can do some damage as well.

Looking for help to stem early aggro rushes (my friend plays a pretty solid R/W aggro that gives me problems) and any other useful suggestions you might have. The sideboard in particular needs work I think.

I'm now looking to make this modern legal, so I need replacements for Carrion Feeder, Skullclamp, and Attrition as well as some ideas for the open slots I'll have once I remove Dark Ritual, Diabolic Intent , and Phyrexian Altar.
