Why are the Mutavault s in there? It makes no sense, unless you're thinking about the Cavalry Pegasus . Still, that's only one card. Otherwise, GREAT DECK! +1.

Boros Reckoner is definitely a must have in theis deck.

The deck needs to overwhelm the opponent quickly, it doesn't have the steam for a long game, usually. Mutavault adds an extra attacker that's 2/2 or 3/3 with the Spear of Heliod out. It's a great thing to have around for activating Battalion on Boros Elite and Frontline Medic too. The 'all creature types' thing isn't the only reason to include Mutavaults in a deck.
Yeah, the Boros Reckoner s can be very important, though not as important to the deck's cause as Banisher Priest (need removal for tough defenders) and Frontline Medic (the ability to attack en masse without loss). Reckoner is in the sideboard, and I think it would replace Spear of Heliod against other aggro decks... maybe replace a Dryad Militant or two as well.

Yes, I actually ended up siding them in against several different matchups this week, to great effect. I only need to swing unblocked a couple of times in order to win, and those horsies let me do that!
They outplay Boros Reckoner , Blood Baron of Vizkopa , High Priest of Penance , gods, and other things that could sit there and block me to disastrous effect.
I will replace Dryad Militant s with them, whose abilities became much less relevant when Innistrad block rotated out. It hurts to lose four 1-drop 2/1's, and I'll have to playtest to see if the deck can survive the hit.

I'm really happy with how the deck is performing - I'll keep the updates coming... I won't be able to attend this FNM, but I'll go next week, and hopefully do better than Ixthinon's The Big Deal - 1st place FNM! Mwa ha haaa...

you don't need 24 lands for this, not even close....this can function more than fine with 20-21

Hmm, I see... I will take out a couple of Plains and playtest, thanks for the advice!

Nice, you schooled my deck twice Tehehehe. . . but I think if I sideboarded it would have been really close :) +1 love this deck

This decklist is disgustingly good. I play tested my UW control against a similar deck and went 2-7 haha.
Have you considered testing with Blind Obedience in the sideboard. Opponents creatures entering tapped gives them less blockers and with the low curve you might have extra mana to extort. Just a thought. :D

I simply could not win against Esper Control running a similar deck to this. How is it done?
October 8, 2013 8:02 a.m.
@kevinator: Yeah, those Ultimate Price , Essence Scatter , and maybe Ratchet Bomb might give this deck the slowdown you need to get your bigger bombs out!
@magic_monicle: Thanks, I've been having some real success with this. Haven't been able to make it to the last FNM or the next one though, due to work. :(
@despez: The incremental lifegain from Blind Obedience lends itself to a slightly longer game than this deck likes. I need the quick kill. Imposing Sovereign acts as a Blind Obedience for me! Thanks for the thought though!
@xD1V1NEx: Fabled Hero
is awesome, but he needs to be targeted to really flourish. This deck would have to go through some changes in order to welcome him. I believe he has a greater place in a Selesnya deck alongside such synergies as Unflinching Courage
and Selesnya Charm
!

@smalley: Sideboard in Rootborn Defenses and plan to have the mana ready for it when they hit four mana, so you can ruin their Supreme Verdict .
Frontline Medic can counter, or at least stall/diminish, a Sphinx's Revelation . Use Brave the Elements defensively against targeted removal and Azorius Charm . Pithing Needle can pre-emptively stop a Planeswalker or something like Haunted Plate Mail is that's troubling you.
Above all, play smart. If they're going to be boardwiping your creatures, then don't empty your hand on to the board, hold back some things for after the wipe. There's enough attacking in this deck that you can take out a defenseless opponent in a few turns without using every creature you get.
October 8, 2013 8:35 a.m.
That answer is for xD1V1NEx as well... that's the plan for Esper Control, if anyone else has some suggestions, I'm all ears! :)
October 8, 2013 8:53 a.m.
Thanks, I was originally building Esper Control for gameday but decided to go with this as its less expensive, faster and more original than anything else I have seen floating around +1

I just had some trouble against Yazstromo and his American Defense Force! First turn Chained to the Rocks or two, ease into a Detention Sphere or two, and then my battlefield is lacking... and then a Sphere of Safety hits the board, and this deck gets demolished because it needs to attack with many creatures.
Glaring weakness... I guess I need to sideboard some Wear&Tear... or maybe Glare of Heresy ! Yeah, that's the ticket!
October 8, 2013 8:13 p.m.
Thanks for the test of the deck. I strongly agree with your choice of Glare of Heresy in the sideboard. I've found it to be a really good choice for a white deck right now, since there are a number of problematic white permanents filtering into Standard, two of which you ran into.

Is it possible for Elixir of Immortality to make the cut for Sideboard against Mill decks?

i would remove Dryad Militant altogether. Judge's Familiar is wonderful here; and watching your opponent cringe while casting spells (or playing them a turn behind) is hilarious, and really gives you the edge you need. just give it a try; its definitely a hidden gem card right now that i think people havent really seen what it does; especially in aggro decks.
