Just let me do my damn thing, blue decks.

I made this deck because I was sick of the mono-blue decks out there, countering nearly everything worthy I had to play. One guy had 30 counterspells in his EDH deck, one guy figured out infinite extra turns. This deck was made to address what caused me some internal rage back at the tabletop game club - by having it so I can do my own thing and then punishing them for playing their "genius" deck.

Going for a theme of anti-control here, by way of "can't be countered." Most players I have encountered do not usually think to redirect spells (the loophole to this deck), so this approach has worked well. It's very creature based (very good if Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is on the field) due to Surrak covering all of my creatures. The win condition is by way of trample damage with the big guys - mostly Gruul, as this is: creature, anti-blue, and trample based.

There is definite ramp here thanks to !! There are the basics like Kodama's Reach and Cultivate , as well Mina and Denn, Wildborn to establish and grow the land base. Many of my artifacts are the commander essentials for mana.

Mana dorks: Elvish Mystic , Zhur-Taa Druid , Rattleclaw Mystic , and technically Sakura-Tribe Elder

Sarkhan Unbroken is Darksteel Ingot in a planeswalker!

Savage Ventmaw is lovely in this deck, especially if he has haste so no one can destroy him before getting mana back.

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir + Rashmi, Eternities Crafter + Elemental Bond (or Temur Ascendancy ) will give you an insane board state fast, and have it so you can at least draw 2 cards per turn (as long as there is likely a creature in your hand with 3+ power)!! This is by flashing in a creature with Teferi, using Rashmi's ability off of the cast, on any turn, and then activating a draw-if-(3+) enchantment. At best, you can cast 2 spells during someone else's turn (one for free with Rashmi), and draw a card!

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker 's tokens count toward the draw-if-(3+) enchantments.

Sarkhan Unbroken will allow you to draw ASAP :)

Decimate and Hull Breach are probably some of the highest value removal cards I have ever seen - and they're only in Gruul! :)

Trample

There are several creatures that will give the others trample in this deck, so that Surrak is not the only source of it :) Mina and Denn, Wildborn is not the greatest backup for trample bestowing, but... if you're having tough luck, it is there.

Thunderfoot Baloth is an insane buff while Surrak is out. All creatures you control (including himself) get +2/+2 immediately, and trample on top of that!! This way Surrak is harder to kill through combat, and is not the only one giving trample to your board. Nylea, God of the Hunt is another source of trample.

Gratuitous Violence and beserkers onslaught will ensure that my creatures are gonna be scary to have come swinging at you! And now, with Omnath, Locus of Rage , I can swing with 5/5 trample elementals that explode for 3 damage!!

Ugin's Nexus is obviously for the douchebag who thought infinite extra turns was fun (looking at idiots who play Sage of Hours solely to win games). Yeah, only for yourself bud... It is nice that it punishes whoever decides to destroy it (likely the jerk).

Anti-Counter

There are many spells that already have the "cannot be countered" ability within them - I made sure of it.

Surrak Dragonclaw , Prowling Serpopard , and Spellbreaker Behemoth will ensure that my creatures come in, and that ETB effects will happen!

Dosan the Falling Leaf and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir will have it so that my opponents can't play counterspells on my turn as well, and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed will have it so they take 6 - 12 damage (with gratuitous violence) for doing so as well.
