Sideboard

Maybeboard

Mana Ramp, Monstrous Creatures, Counters, Devotion, Gods, Planeswalkers.

The primary objective of this deck is to increase the mana generation but also to always have something to spend it on - namely on making creatures monstrous and activated abilities of gods and their weapons.

CARD SELECTION

The deck uses Elvish Mystic, Sylvan Caryatid and Burning-Tree Emissary to mana ramp into early big creatures.

Xenagos, the Reveler - Uses +1 to mana ramp, while his other abilities can help to flood the board with creatures.

Domri Rade - Uses +1 to gain a card advantage and to ensure that mana is always able to be spent on a creature.

Arbor Colossus - Monstrous is especially good to give support against fliers.

Ember Swallower - Monstrous can cripple an opponent with few lands and with the support of mana ramp cards can allow for a quick finish.

Nemesis of Mortals - In a creature heavy deck this card is great, monstrous can make it a 10/10 and in the late game this creature can be quite inexpensive.

Kalonian Hydra - Apart from from being a very fast clock, it can double the counters on anything that is monstrous (as if they weren't big enough already).

Rubblebelt Raiders - Both the counters and devotion of this card make it a good fit. The fact the the counters are added for each attacking creature can mean that several counters are added per turn.

Nylea, God of the Hunt - The massive amount of devotion in this deck allows for Nylea to be readily materialised. Her trample is excellent to force damage through from the huge creatures. Spare mana can be used to pump.

Purphoros, God of the Forge - While there is less red devotion, Purphoros can still be materialised very fast. His passive is great in a creature heavy deck. Spare mana can be used to pump.

Scavenging Ooze - This card has good synergy in the fact that spare mana can be used to add +1/+1 tokens. Additionally, it can be used to clean up graveyards of unwanted cards.

Boon Satyr - Very powerful 3cmc card, additional mana can be used to bestow it. Flash allows it to be cast at instant speed for some good combat tricks.

Bow of Nylea - The bow is very flexible and can offer answers to a wide variety of problems. The +1/+1 counters can combo with the hydra, the death tough can make even the elves strike fear into an opponent, life in a tough situation and the ability to dispatch 2 toughness fliers.

Hammer of Purphoros - The hammer can speed up the attack with global haste and the golem tokens can help stabilise after a board wipe or to finish the match.

Lightning Strike and Mizzium Mortars are used for spot and board removal respectively.

Clan Defiance - this card is great at clearing out fliers/creatures or in the late game can be a win-con.

This deck is composed of cards I actually have. I will also include suggested cards or those that I plan to buy in the maybe board.

The deck loses some consistency with all the singles but as most of them are legendary this eliminates the possibility of having dead cards in hand.

I am still working on the sideboard and am always looking for suggestions on how the deck may be improved. Please post you comments below.

Updates Add

Unfortunately, I was missing 2 x Mizzium Mortars (replaced with 2 x Magma Jet) and did not have the sideboard.

Round 1: Esper control 2-0

First match, my opponent struggled due to mana flood and I was able to win easily with multiple creatures on the board. Second match, I played Elvish Mystic and ramped into an Ember Swallower, while he managed to get out an AEtherling. I was able to remove it on my turn with Clan Defiance before it caused any problems and then won before he was able to recover.

Round 2: Rakdos Aggro 1-2

First match, my opponent was able to win with Rakdos Cackler, Spike Jester and Legion Loyalist, while using Dreadbore and Doom Blade to remove my larger creatures. Second match, I was able to ramp with Elvish Mystic and Sylvan Caryatid into a Xenagos, the Reveler, while my opponent used some early burn to the face and had a Spike Jester and Chandra's Phoenix in play. Turn 5 was excellent for me as I was able to use the abilities of my creatures, plainswalker and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to ramp my Clan Defiance to almost lethal, whilst also taking out both of their creatures. They weren't able to recover and I won the following turn. Third match, I kept a hand that I should have mulliganed as I was holding a Domri Rade, although I had no turn 1 or 2 plays. My opponent did some early damage with Rakdos Cackler and had sided in some Boros Reckoners , one of which they got out third turn. I managed to get out my Domri Rade who was immediately destroyed and then the following turn I got out an Arbor Colossus. I killed their Boros Reckoner, although this left me with just 3 life. The next turn my opponent played a second Boros Reckoner, for which I had no way to counter.

Round 3: Combo 2-1

First match I had almost the perfect start, having Elvish Mystic, 2 x Burning-Tree Emissary, Sylvan Caryatid, Xenagos, the Reveler and Satyr Token on the field on turn 3. Looking to be an easy win I was taken by surprise when my opponent played Elite Arcanist, Zhur-Taa Druid and Triton Tactics and proceeded to tell me he won. The infinite combo ended the game. Both match 2 and 3 I won by overpowering him creatures and using Clan Defiance to remove any pieces of the combo.

Round 4: Ana Midrange 1-2

First match my opponent got out 2 x Duskmantle Seer and the flying damage plus the additional damage during the upkeep was too much for me. Second match, he used Scavenging Ooze and Deathrite Shaman to wreak havoc with the graveyards but I was able to overpower him with a monstrous Arbor Colossus and an Ember Swallower. Third match, he used Jace, Arcitect of Thought to limit my damage, while he attacked with removal and 2 x Deathrite Shaman. I managed to hold out for a few turns using my hexproof Sylvan Caryatids, although I got mana flooded and couldn't make any plays.
