I'm in the editing phase rght now. I just pulled a bunch of cards out of the actual deck that were basically a waste. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is an interesting idea. I have one and never considered him for the deck but undying would be cool in here. Also been toying around with the concept of the deck a little. Melira, Sylvok Outcast + creatures with persist + Mikaeus, the Unhallowed = very hard to kill creatures that are bigger than they should be. As fun as it would be it would be really hard to pull off every game though.

Well with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and persist done correctly its almost impossible to kill your creatures as is with Ghave, Guru of Spores , all you have to do is pull the counters off and they don't really die. The real question is did you catch the infinite mana and token combo i suggested? If you like persist this may please you Cauldron of Souls . Ghave as a general has an ass ton of combos including the lovely endless ones. Its a fun deck to run, trust me :)

Oh I caught it. Ashnod's Altar is on my to get list for this deck. It's my top priority right now. The fun thing about melira is that with her the persist creatures come back with no -1/-1 counter on them so I can just sac a persist creature over and over again

well the +1/+1 counter nullify the -1/-1 counters too thats why Cauldron of Souls is a good card with Ghave. Ghave has so many nearly unstoppable combos i mean we're talking infinite life, tokens, mana, power, toughness, when you put the right deck together its frightening. Also if you have mana issues check my deck black plague i know the sweet feeling of tapping a basic land for 8 mana

@Epochalyptik Why would you tell him to get rid of Spike Feeder you dont like infinite life??? a similar combo can be done with Dross Harvester

June 17, 2013 1:07 p.m.

Epochalyptik says... #7

There are better combos, and Spike Feeder is fairly useless without one of those combos supporting it.

So with the counters thing if they get a +1/+1 and a -1/-1 counter I thought they cancelled each other out from a power and toughness standpoint but still avtually get the counters?

So then with melira in play it negates the persist counter so persist would bring it back over and over again?

Cathars' Crusade should be in here, it's a really good buff if you spawn enough tokens, Rhys the Redeemed is necessary in just about any token deck, I would also take out the vows for cards like Glare of Subdual , Blind Obedience and Grave Pact , but then again, I dont really know if you plan to put the vows on your creatures or an opponents creatures, so thats entirely up to you. I have a ghave deck called Ghave's Army, you may find some useful cards in their.

I would also put cards like Debt to the Deathless and Exsanguinate in here, those and Ashnod's Altar or Phyrexian Altar are really good together.

@Bellock86: +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters cancel one another out at a 1:1 ratio as a state-based action. The counters will cease to exist.

With Melira, Sylvok Outcast in play, persist can't put -1/-1 counters on creatures you control. Therefore, persist creatures will be returned to the battlefield without counters, allowing them to continually persist.

okay. That's what I thought about the Melira. that negating the counter thing is kind of funny though. I feel like such a newbie that I didn't know that. Even though I've been playing for over 15 years.

I would suggest cutting the mana rocks (aside from maybe Sol Ring and maybe another) for more creatures to make your pod chain smoother, you might also not want the expensive spells that are only really around to make you more tokens, at your top end you really just want spells that will win you the game by either super pumping your army, or clearing the way for your army to do some big swings (Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is such an example of both). If the top end cards of your deck are not doing that then you'll usually be better off with excess mana to use on Ghave. As for lands you may really want Gavony Township and maybe Vault of the Archangel , both of these lands are really cheap, generally easy to find, and will often be some of the most powerful utility lands Ghave can make use of.

i would drop Doomgape Footbottom Feast Alliance of Arms . i would add Doubling Season Demonic Tutor Wrath of God Day of Judgment . how do you feel about infinite combos?

June 19, 2013 10:42 p.m.

Bellock86 says... #16

never ran a deck that used them before but i'm okay with new things lol. I can't afford Demonic Tutor right now which is why I run the Diabolic Tutor . I know it's a crummy substitute but the only other thing I have is Infernal Tutor which really won't work in EDH. lol.

Which rocks should I drop?

June 20, 2013 1:38 p.m.

A word about infinite combos: If you're part of a casual playgroup, the other players probably won't appreciate you going infinite. The combos would also require a partial restructuring of some aspects of the deck.

Right. I want it to just be fun to play right now. I'm working on a voltron concept right now for competetive. Could you playtest this a few times and tell me what bugs I'm dealing with. I keep having land issues as stated above.

June 20, 2013 3:32 p.m.

Without even playtesting, I can tell you that you'll want more ramp. In a three-color deck, fast and consistent access to mana is a decisive factor in your success or failure.

The signets are kind of slow and clunky as fa as mana rocks go. You can speed things up by adding Mana Vault , Kodama's Reach , Skyshroud Claim , Nature's Lore , and Explosive Vegetation .

You should also look into slowly improving the land base. Shock lands work especially well with cards like Perilous Forays , Skyshroud Claim , and Nature's Lore . They also pair nicely with fetches, but the fetches are kind of pricey.

Murmuring Bosk is mandatory in BGW.

Some of your creature choices are kind of odd. You might want to think about optimizing everything around counters and tokens.

I was thinking of dropping Doomgape because he doesn't really fit. I was just looking at it from a life gain standpoint. What other creatures should go? Replacements?

Woodfall Primus combos with your general. At least I'm pretty sure that works. You can use it to blow up as much as you have the mana for.

What could be interesting is if you added more grave interaction. Fauna Shaman is excellent for finding your creatures, especially if you add Genesis , whose recursion is bonkers.

A card that I've been loving in casual EDH is Debt to the Deathless , which us bananas with multiple players.

Also, Vindicate is some of the best removal out there.

I know I have a Genesis and Debt to the Deathless . Fauna Shaman seems good. Gonna have to find that and Vindicate . Any other changes you would make?

June 24, 2013 2:04 p.m.

Summoner's Pact , Green Sun's Zenith , and Chord of Calling are all strong, but somewhat pricey.

Find yourself a Murmuring Bosk . It's basically another Command Tower .
