What more do you need from me! It's Ruric Thar! Turn stuff sideways and smash face!

Fine... Stuff like Swiftfoot Boots is important for hexproofing him. Whispersilk Cloak and General's Kabuto pull double duty for making him immune to targeted removal via shroud, and then pretty much unkillable from being blocked. Asceticism Does similar, and Archetype of Endurance does as well. Keeping Thar on the board is crucial here, is what I'm getting at!

Beyond that, you gotta have card advantage, and things to keep the engine going. That's where cards like Deadwood Treefolk , Drumhunter, Garruk's Packleader, Heartwood Storyteller , Soul of the Harvest, Xenagos, the Reveler. and Domri Rade , Lurking Predators, Primordial Sage, and Mosswort Bridge come into play.

I don't need to go into the usefulness of ramp. Let's just say, getting Ruric Thar down on turn 3 leads to an interesting game.

Lots of utility as well. Since Thar doesn't like you having removal spells like Beast Within, you gotta get creative. Acidic Slime, Glissa Sunseeker , Bane of Progress, Capricious Efreet and others come into play for that role.

Key cards:

Basilisk Collar and Loxodon Warhammer now all of a sudden not only are you gaining life from others casting spells, you're not punished for playing your own anymore!

Lurking Predators Holy cow the return on investment in this card... Creature after creature after creature.

Heartwood Storyteller Gotta keep that hand filled... and yet, for some reason, your opponents never want to get rid of it. Who knows!

Hellkite Tyrant Maybe not "key" so much as "interesting" Playing against a Voltron, Sydri/Sharrum deck, or really any deck with artifacts? Well, I will gladly take them ALL from you!

Xenagos, God of Revels Having Thar attacking on the turn he drops for double his power/toughness... Yeah, that can get scary, especially if he's unblockable, or trample.

Birthing Pod and Fauna Shaman Sometimes you've got garbage creatures in play/hand... Well, let's make them better.

Primal Surge I win?...

Whispersilk Cloak General's Kabuto I really need to emphasize the importance of Thar being untargetable from removal, and being unable to be killed by being blocked.
