TheCatHerder: Very true, I'll add Umezawa's Jitte to the maybeboard for a future upgrade (when my bank account stabilizes from Christmas).
Godhead_Initiated: Haha, riiiiight. Hot Soup. It's so ridiculous it might work, right? I was thinking it was no big deal to have Hope die because it's so cheap to recast. But all those re-equip costs add up and now I'm thinking it could be too easy a way for enemies to remove it. Okay, maybe I'd be better off with Skyblinder Staff instead.

This looks sweet!
What about just adding some solid creatures like Wurmcoil Engine and Steel Hellkite?
Also, cards like Spine of Ish Sah are really good if you have sac outlets.
Batterskull and Sword of Fire and Ice are also really good but probably not good for a budget....
Strip Mine also seems really good, really in any commander deck, but doesn't hurt your mana base in this one at all. You could also run Crucible of Worlds with that and make everyone not like you.
Ooh yeah Lightning Greaves! I think it's probably worth it to have redundancy with Swiftfoot Boots to protect whatever you need to.
In the end I think you should stick to your plan rather than change up the deck a bunch because it already looks so fun and really quite good.
Have fun with it.
Scry 4.

Surestrike Trident is hilarious with Brass Squire and Clock of Omens makes it even better.

Also Not of This World can serve as some much needed protection for your hope once it gets beefy.

cyrusthelin: Thank you for all the suggestions! As for adding some solid goodstuff creatures, I tried to stay away from it. I want a big pile of artifacts available so I'm almost guaranteed to hit them early game and be aggressive with my little thopter. I considered a bunch of the usual strong artifact creatures but figured I should stick to the plan and not dilute the deck too much. Having said all that, Steel Hellkite is awfully tempting when I'm so limited in colourless removal options.
I think I'll pass on Batterskull due to my budget and the high CMC/equip costs.
Sword of Fire and Ice is definitely on my list for when budget allows (someday I'll complete full cycle of 5 swords).
Similarly, I'll definitely add a Strip Mine (someday!) instead of the Ghost Quarter I have today. Don't think I'll go the whole Crucible of Worlds route though - it's not really aligned to my master strategy (and if I had a Crucible, I'd toss it in my Azusa deck ).
Lightning Greaves sounds like a good idea - but it's a trap! Shroud prevents you from targeting your own creatures, meaning once I equip the Greaves, I can't equip anything else! So I have to pass on the Greaves (as well as a Whispersilk Cloak).
I had Spine of Ish Sah in here for a bit but then took it out because I only have one sac outlet and without more, the Spine is pretty clunky. Scour from Existence is a little more direct.
calexander: Yours is the original Hope of Ghirapur commander deck! It definitely looks fun, I studied it when I built this deck ;)
TheCatHerder: Whoa - I'm gonna have to think about Surestrike Trident. That could be really tricky, I like it!
I'm Not a Fan of Not of This World. I used to run it in an Eldrazi deck I have but I feel like it's too conditional (and sometimes just win-more) to take up a slot in the deck. The games where I drew the card, it just sat useless in my hand. It wasn't until later game when I was dropping big scary threats and already ahead of everyone that it had any effect. I guess I've been burned on it before and now I'm hesitant to spare a slot for it.

If you can afford it add Dark Depths to combo with Thespian's Stage. Another expensive upgrade could be Wasteland.

Some cheap power boosters you may be missing out on (do take note that there really isn't any expensive versions of these effects in colorless that I could find):
Golem Artisan, Leering Emblem, Scroll of the Masters, Sword of the Chosen, Tower of Champions (very expensive, but worth?), Energy Chamber, Power Conduit (only if you altered your build use the prior card I'd say), and Puffer Extract (if you're feeling desperate)
I would recommend more "pull lands from the deck" type of ramp as well, but that is a personal preference and you my not find it works for you.

Interesting build to say the last. Here's some lands you should be running Tower of the Magistrate, Temple of the False God, Thawing Glaciers, Nephalia Academy, Maze of Ith, Myriad Landscape and Glacial Chasm. Also, where is Doubling Cube?

Rings of Brighthearth to combo infinitely with your Basalt Monolith?

do you have any chance to get around equipcosts?
also maybe more cost reducers like the new Jhoira's Familiar when it comes out and the old stuff Helm of Awakening and Semblance Anvil
April 6, 2018 6:32 a.m.
I don't see it on your list, you might want to consider adding Helm of the Host. This would be one to equip to something other than Hope. Multiple copies of the Jhoira's Familiar for free casting or multiple Etched Champions for unblockable beaters.
Also to rob your opponent and keep their beaters from coming back at you, you should look at Scythe of the Wretched

And actually I take it back, after re-reading Hope's ability the Helm would definitely work there as well.

I love decks like these! I have something very similar which is highly loved at my LGS! Ghirapur, You're my only hope!
Keep up the good work!

Are there really enough creatures in this deck to be consistent? I'd think some Living weapon equipments(Skinwing, Flayer Husk, Mortarpod) is just what the doctor ordered if there arent. I know you're ideally just casting Hope for 1, then 3,5 and maybe even 7 &9 mana, but thats still only 15 creatures. Food for thought, and plus 1! !
May 23, 2018 2:06 p.m.
Needs more Shroud / hexproof because any control deck will ruin your day with this little creatures...
General's Kabuto
Lightning Greaves
Whispersilk Cloak
Darksteel Juggernaut
Darksteel Sentinel
Geode Golem

You have Sea Gate Wreckage in there twice, one in land, one in card advantage.
You're running Shrine of the Forsaken Gods but not Temple of the False God, I'd switch out or run both.
You've got a lot of utility lands, may be worth running Expedition Map
Not sure what your budget is for suggestions but you've got 68 artifacts in this deck so Metalworker is gonna give you more mana than all your rocks combined.

Victory Chimes loves being with Mind's Eye.
Also, how do you deal with Vandalblast and other boardwipes? besides Warping Wail?
September 6, 2018 11:55 a.m.
Also, sorry for the spam, but don't you run into manascrew? I've tested the deck 20 times and more the half the times I didn't have mana at the start.

Love this, totally going to build my own Hope deck now. You totally need an Umezawa's Jitte though.
