clircrazy, tbh I included Darksteel Mutation because I think the bug is cute, and it kind of fits the punishment theme. Oubliette would be a perfectly fine trade off though.

Still playing the deck and still loving it. I play with some more aggro friends and have won enough with this deck that it's starting to get a little focused. Sometimes Liesa's lifelink is enough to keep me in the game, sometimes it's not. It's got me looking for some pillow fort options, but I have no idea what I'd take out. Still enjoy every game tho and I'm glad you are keeping the deck updated.

C4K3P0P Thanks so much and I'm glad to hear it! I agree that it doesn't have the best lifegain package in the world, and as I've mentioned other places this is a general list I made that will do decently in pretty much any non cEDH meta. That being said, I strongly encourage everyone to adapt it to their playgroup and meta if they so feel.

For your aggro meta, I suggest things like Windborn Muse , Isolation Cell (could go either way on this one), Revenge of Ravens and its many clones, Meekstone , etc. If your friends play swarm decks, you could try cards like Slaughter the Strong .

Thank you for the continued support :)

Awesome deck! This looks like a ton of fun. I’m currently building Liesa and going a similar route. I may just add in a couple of extra angels because, well, angels are awesome in MtG.

Would Professor Onyx be a good fit for Liesa? She is 6 CMC, but her passive negates Liesa's self burn and puts it one each opponent. And her -8 could be a good finisher.

Brier, I personally wouldn't use Professor Onyx because she doesn't really fit into the deck. This isn't a spellslinger deck so the passive is mediocre, and I try to not value a planeswalker based on the ult, because getting an ult off is christmas land scenario (ie won't happen 9/10 times you play the the walker)

Hi there!

Love this deck, actually inspired me to build a similar list using a shared card pool with my Regna & Krav list since a lot of the good cards in this list are very pricey $$

That being said, is the life gain in your current setup sufficient? Is Auriok Champion , Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant worth making an include?

As far as taxes go, how do you feel about Archangel of Tithes ? It’s on theme being an Inninstead angel, plus provides some - although small - tax to your opponents for threatening you.

I’m excited to see where you go with this list and see it’s future. Upvoted this beauty

Sorry double post, thoughts on Valkyrie Harbinger for that extra teeny lifegain payoff?

April 27, 2021 6:36 p.m.

Santiago1011 says... #9

Xenopigeon, thanks for the support. I did actually notice the price increased by about 200$ or so within the last year, so I highly recommend proxying it.

As for lifegain, it's okay, but it definitely plays pretty greedily when it comes to the lifegain package (there isn't really one). When Bolas's Citadel comes out, it can really hurt sometimes so add some lifegian for sure if you feel it needs it. I'd personally run Windborn Muse over Archangel of Tithes because a lot of our creatures have flying and combat damage to face isn't one of the main concerns.

As for Valkyrie Harbinger , to me it looks like a double costed Resplendent Angel . Yeah it can trigger itself, but remember that Liesa should be in play pretty much always thanks to its tax cheat, and she has 5 power for Resplendent. I'd say it's an okay budget alternative, a bit expensive though.

Makes sense. As far as soul Sisters go, not worth the slots ?

Santiago1011 says... #11

Xenopigeon, if you want more lifegain, soul sisters are definitely an option. I've seen them do well in other peoples decks but I haven't personally tried them out so..

Hey! Congrats on the absolutely epic deck! I’m building my first edh deck, and since a few months ago I’ve been looking at Liesa and trying to build something cool with her. Your deck seems very fun and also very good, but although it’s not in the pricey side, a few cards are very expensive in my country (like Land Tax , Necropotence and Archangel of Thune ). Can you think in a few budget solutions to replace this cards (that wouldn’t just make this deck bad) or I’ll just need to work harder for a few months? Haha, anyways, congrats on the build.

BackPac thank you very much!

Unfortunately, all of those cards you mentioned are fairly unique in their ability. There won't really be a good 1:1 budget option. You could try Keeper of the Accord , but to be honest I'd just replace the spells with Gift of Estates , Stinging Study , and maybe Cradle of Vitality ? Archangel of Thune has a pretty unique ability.

Another option you have is to proxy the cards.

Thanks for the suggestions! Another question, why don't you use Kaya's Wrath instead of Damnation or Wrath of God , I don't see why don't to use it, it gains life when you wrath. Is it because of the regeneration?

May 3, 2021 3:48 p.m.

Santiago1011 says... #15

BackPac, Kaya's Wrath is a bit color specific for cost, so I don't really want to constrain myself to that. I also don't run the most creatures so I probably won't be making more than 4 life off of it. Lastly, I love the Seb McKinnon art for Damnation so I want to run it.

It can totally replace damnation, but I personally like damnation more.

Has adding Opposition Agent ever been a consideration? Definitely could be punishing

May 17, 2021 5:49 p.m.

Santiago1011 says... #17

Xenopigeon, I have not. It's a pretty unfun card and tilts the deck even more towards stax than the drain theme I want. The deck will naturally have some stax/pillowfort but again its not the main theme.

Awesome deck! I've got a Liesa deck, too. You've given me some really great ideas for additions to my deck, even though my deck is a little more focused on the strict lifegain aspect rather than quite so much staxy/control stuff. Thanks!

domer glad to have been of help. I haven't been paying attention to the new sets so I'll probably do a list refreshment around the two Innistrad sets, since there will definitely be some new toys in those.

Santiago1011 hi. Looking forward for some deck upgrades after Inistrad release. But now - what do you sink about Devoted Caretaker

August 10, 2021 7:20 a.m.

Santiago1011 says... #21

clircrazy that's an interesting card and I honestly haven't seen it before. Depending on how your deck is built, it could be worth it. For mine personally I don't think so; the only creature that I really 'need' on the field is Liesa, and her ability allows me to not have to invest in protection as I can always recast her for cheap. Every other creature is nice to have out, sure, but they aren't so important that I'd use a slot for conditional protection like that.

I'm also looking forward to the Innistrad sets and I might put together a vampire and werewolf deck respectively. Werewolves I've been wanting to do for a hot minute but Ulrich is not the werewolf commander we were hoping for lol.

I would probably put more control since everyone might want to attack you for having that commander.

Hey Santiago1011 how is your Wervolf themed deck? While you are looking for big furry wolves I keep lurking for sadistic cards in this deck =) What do you think about Karma? Especially, when Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is in play.

October 27, 2021 9:50 a.m.

Santiago1011 says... #24

clircrazy, glad you are still interested! While Tovolar, Dire Overlord  Flip is interesting, I was pretty underwhelmed by the number of werewolves released in this set, there were almost as many vampires. If that holds true for the vampire set, then we'll see. I also am hoping for some more cards from the vampire set for Liesa, as vampires are all about draining their enemies of life.

As for Karma, I prefer running drain because not only do the 3 enemy decks hurt me, but my commander also hurts me. Having the life gain also allows stuff like Well of Lost Dreams, Bolas's Citadel, Indulging Patrician, etc to work better than straight up life loss. Karma could definitely work, but its not exactly the direction I want to go.

Santiago1011 Hey man, love the deck idea, I can see why it went #1! I know the new sets aren't out fully yet, but any additions to this deck since spoilers have dropped for Crimson Vow?
