I don't want to shameless plug but have you seen my loam pox list. It is B/G based but splashes to be all five colors. I think it would be a good refrence because I use cards like Squee, Goblin Nabob, Lingering Souls and Gifts Ungiven. Loam Poxx

I like your list, definitely. It seems really sweet. I can link to it if you'd like. Would you be willing to cross-link?

sirbar says... #5

Sure that would be nice and do you want me to link the primer? Because I plan on it now that it exists.

Not a problem. So I looked over each deck. I gotta say I liked Life from the Loam but now I love it. I never really understood the types of decks it can be used in. Also love the write up and format for each deck and this primer over all. Do you own or play any of these decks? Also for the R/G deck list would Atarka's Command be helpful? I feel like getting a land drop and a burn spell can be very help full. Maybe sideboard tech?

Yes, that was the intent. If you'd like, I would appreciate that you write up a small overview of your deck to put along with it. I've never played Gifts, but I know that that can be a big factor in play decisions. If you're willing, just get that to me on my wall whenever. Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, I personally play the 4 color Jund Pox list. I've been on it for about 2 weeks, and fell in love with it. I've been playing loam pox strategies in both legacy and modern for over a year now though.

As for Atarka's Command, that is certainly a possibility. I like the extra land drop, though the deck that I would think that it goes in, the RG Aggro list, doesn't really need it. It could definitely be worth trying out though. I can put it in the maybe board of that list and do a bit of theory with it.

I just had this idea tell me what you think you are playing the R/G list right, on turn two you draw the command and then play your land for turn. In your hand you have a treetop, you pass the turn with a Red and Green up and ready. They end on. On there end step you cast command for Land and Burn. Deal damage and get an "untapped" village on your turn that you can swing with. Idk I like that play lol.

That seems super sweet. Maybe that is just more worth than something like Lightning Bolt or one of the other creatures. I'll try it out.

Yay I sold it. Let me know how it works out if you end up testing it. After I finish up my Grixis Delver deck (I swear one day Ill have it done) I might do a loam pox deck. These seem super sweet. Actually would you help with a budget Loam Deck?

Death_The_Kid

Yes, another thing that I forgot was budgeting. I'll add those once I get around to them. Thanks! I'll link you in whatever comes out of that.

I love the loam. It's definitely a card you have to see in action before you realize how over powered it is. This is the loam deck that I feel does everything Life from the Loam intended: Manifest Dredge. This is not my deck, but it's sweet. Cool primer, would love to see (semi)regular updates to it. +1

I think Raven's Crime should be added to the "core cards" list. Almost every deck with Loam can find room for at least 1, if not more, somewhere in the 75. In many matchups it's a virtual softlock.

I play a 4C NoU version with a few alternate wincons. Check it out if you're interested: Manifest Dredge

It has a lot of flex spots. Testing without the pyromancers right now. They're invaluable some match ups, but without a loam or retracer they're pretty bad.

Anyway, I dig the primer. I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Raven's Crime Added as a staple, List of Rogue Decks added with Manifest Dredge as the only current list.

Should Young Pyromancer qualify as a "staple/core" card worth explaining? Since part of the game plan is to play certain cheap instants and sorceries over and over again he tends to show up a lot, and he interacts very favorably with Smallpox in B/R/G/x.

Thanks for writing this primer. I've been having a ton of fun with a Jund Modern Loam Assault lately, and it's really interesting to see the non-Red approaches to the deck. It gives me a lot to think about.

Nice. I wasn't even aware of this archetype, and now I want to play it :p I'm a blue player and I feel I could play a Jund Creatureless loam pox, no blue, and still be a detestable controlling bastard :)

+1 from me

I personally play a 4 color loam deck that is based around the synergy between loam, retrace spells and seismic assault as well as with young pyromancer. The white is for maindeck knight of the reliquary and lingering souls

This is an awesome primer! A couple formatting hints that I found when writing mine - if you add script src="http://tappedout.net/tappedout.js">script> (add < and </ in front of the "script"s)

at the top of the page, you can use

div class="deck-list" data-stub="DECK NAME HERE"> div> (add < and </ in front of the "div"s)

to be able to see the entire deck list without leaving the page.

Thanks! I'm currently writing up a draft for enhancements to this, so that's definitely something on my list of things to do!

Also, I just finished up a rough draft of a Sultai Loam Pox list, so that'll be going in for anyone interested.

No problem! Would you be interested in the code to make images buttons? (see Modern Allies - Primer for example). That one took me forever to get to work properly, but it makes the page look really slick if you're artistically inclined.

Servo_Token says... #24

Aw man, that's like, super sick. You made the banners yourself I assume?

If you'd like to send me that work, i'd easily credit you for it once implemented. That'd be great!

Yeah I did, its not too difficult with a bit of photoshop, but thanks! Here's the code:Remove all spaces by the <>. Also, if you want to include multiple ones, you'll have to replace all instances of "2" like "but.2" with another number to distinguish it.

If you want to have the image change after its clicked, you can, but I just used the same one for both images.

< input id="but.2" type="image" src="UNCLICKED IMAGE LINK HERE" width=100% onclick="document.getElementById('div.2').style.display=''; document.getElementById('but.2').style.display='none';" >
< /input > < div id="div.2" style="display: none" > < input type="image" src="IMAGE LINK AFTER ITS CLICKED HERE" width=100% onclick="document.getElementById('div.2').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('but.2').style.display='';" >
< /input > < br / >
