Ok Itoshii, jokercrow and KrazyCaley what do you think now? Still has the Liliana flavor, the Mana problem has been fixed. And the deck seems to have more power now

This deck can easily provide early and late game threats.
The main cards to do this are Geralf's Messenger , Gravecrawler , and any of the bombs like Griselbrand or Army of the Damned .
I think for the early game power threat, you might wanna consider running a playset of Gravecrawler and Geralf's Messenger . Cut down the Killing Wave s unless you run Blood Artist , which makes Killing Wave a super powerful boardwipe, forcing a lot of triggers on Blood Artist .
One of the best removals for this deck is going to be Victim of Night . or even Murder . Instant speed removal is essential in any deck, which is why almost every deck splashes red for some kind of Searing Spear play right now. You have the luxury of not needing to splash red because you are mono black... making it very very easy to cast Victim of Night or Murder .
I stress the instant speed removal because cards like Thundermaw Hellkite or Aurelia, the Warleader could offer some nasty surprises when they hit the field. You never want them to attack uninhibited.

Sure ! I'll have some time tomorrow to test your new version.

Maybe look into Blood Artist Him with board wipes/ Killing Wave is nutty.

So far, playtesting has shown me that 26 land is... a lot of land. I was finding it difficult to do many things every turn because all I'd be drawing is land... when my hand was already full of it.
This happened a lot... while its good to have the healthy land flow... its never good to be flooded. Try knocking the land count down to 24. Plus with Crypt Ghast ... its not like you need all the land in your deck to cast your bombs... 4 swamps to cast Crypt Ghast will allow you to cast Griselbrand with those 4 swamps.

I couldn't agree more with Vos ! I'm having the same problem from my tests.

From what I have tested, your 4 drops are great, your 5 and 8 drops are great too. What help me kill your deck often, is the lack of 1 and 2 drop that would stop me and give you the time you need. If you can get Griselbrand on the battlefield and attack or block with it, I'm dead. On your first turn, you can only play 3 Duress and 2 Gravecrawler , witch just can't block... On your second turn, nothing more, and on your 3rd turn, Geralf's Messenger that can't block right now ether and finally Murder , but it's might already be to late. plus, it in conflict with Liliana of the Veil .
I think that if you just get some good 1cmc and 2cmc that can kill my creatures or just prevent them from attacking, until you can play Liliana of the Veil , Crypt Ghast , Desecration Demon , Mutilate and the awesome Griselbrand , you'll have a great winning deck. Maybe you could add something like Devour Flesh or Typhoid Rats or anything that can clear the battlefield or at least slow me down. It's on the edge of winning a lot more.
When your deck does great, from my tests, I have been able to play on the 5th turn 2 Geralf's Messenger and 1 Liliana of the Veil witch was awesome. And on another game, on the 6th turn, I was able to play one Desecration Demon and one Griselbrand witch was also very awesome !!!
: )

I would probably recommend more cheap, targeted removal and maybe 24 lands since you have Crypt Ghast to boost mana production. Duress has lost some of its power especially with heavy blue control not being much of a factor in Standard. It might be better off in an SB for matchups against Bant, Esper, or Grixis control.

Surviving to turn 4 is the main goal for this deck, i think. If you can last long enough to start casting your fatties, you'll be safe.
Begin with heavy stop removal. I think that Killing Wave is nearly useless in this deck without any kind of "when a creature dies... this happens" effect. Drop the killing waves entirely for more Tragic Slip , Devour Flesh , Tribute to Hunger , Ultimate Price , and the best removal for you Victim of Night .

Lots of people like how its evolving and the direction it is going. This deck has been changed a lot.
Back n forth.
Plus people are nice.

I guess but that could trick a less adept player into investing in this less than optimal deck

True that...
However, I'd really hope a player doesn't see the votes and be like "Oh, good deck! Time to copy!" Because that would make me frown :(

i would -2 killing wave -1 duress -1 increasing ambitition and run 4x blood artist for starters and forget diregraf ghouls and run drainpipe vermin to discard 1 on yourself for griselbrand in the grave and a chump block 2 for 1 and use rise from the grave. This is optimal for its design. Drop disentomb for rise.

All of these suggestions change the theme of the deck. I want it good but I want to keep as many Liliana flavor texted cards as possible
April 26, 2013 6:08 p.m.
Alright jokercrow I do think its about at its maximum potential between being good and keeping a Liliana theme.

Have you ever considered Army of the Damned for this deck? It moves really nice from a turn 4 Crypt Ghast into a turn 5 Army of the Damned with mana to still extort. And then can be easily flashbacked the next turn with even more extort.

Perhaps maybe also 2 victims of night instead of dissentomb. I feel like it may be better just incase you cant get rid of one of their creatures. Plus not to many people are playing zombies, werewolves, and vampires, besides maybe a few here and there.
