1.THANK YOU for using Liliana of the Dark Realms she doesnt see enough action!!! ;(.2. I recommend adding in Corrupt for after mana ramping with Liliana it can be a 10 damage or more swing >:).3. Maybe add Doom Blade to replace Nightwing Shade I mean I see his potential but he is a 5 drop though that you might buff up to a 6/6 for 8 mana!4. Maybe add another Worst Fears ? I mean its an awsome 8 drop and its way better than that 6/6 Nightwing Shade ! 5 Your getting a 1+ from me :D

Thanks! Liliana of the Dark Realms is my favorite planeswalker, haha. And nice reccomendation, Corrupt is a great card, but I have been thinking about replacing Nightwing Shade , but not sure for what...what do you think about Nightmare ? Also, I will add another Worst Fears as soon as I get one. Haha. If I decide to do destruction I will use Hero's Downfall instead of Doom Blade , just my personal preference.

with as much excess mana as you're likely to have, Silence the Believers could be a board-wipe for you.

I used it last night against a friend of mine and you're right, I wiped his field. 4 creatures, 3 of which were indestructable. Haha. He was furious. His deck was undefeated until then. That card saved me, so it is now main deck instead of sideboard.

just a hint of advice you may want to sideboard Silence the Believers only so that you have cheaper removal spells and then when you need them you can swap them in for the other cheaper removal

this deck has pseudo-removal for early game with Pharika's Chosen , but I might think siding some Hero's Downfall for vs superfriends would be good, Elspeth, Sun's Champion is a real pain to take down with creatures, and /must/ be taken down if she hits the field. perhaps lowering Baleful Eidolon to a two-of and Crypt Incursion to a 3-of would give you sideboard room for Hero's Downfall ?

Also, I'm not sure Quag Sickness needs to be a 4-of in here, if you're using it every time then keep it, but it seems like two of them could become Hero's Downfall if you're looking for room for that, or something to draw with, Underworld Connections or Read the Bones .

Look at your sideboard, it looks like some of the cards Champion of Stray Souls aren't really for any situation, but cool cards you couldn't fit in the deck. It might be good to get better cards in the spots, Ratchet Bomb , Pithing Needle , Drown in Sorrow all come to mind. Drown in sorrow does great things in multi-player and can become political, always good.

and mono-blacks best standard friend, Gray Merchant of Asphodel could easily be in here as a finisher. He might end up doing better for you than Corrupt can, especially if you go with adding Underworld Connections to the mix. Gray merchant gets even more fun when you're thinking multiplayer, because playing 4-player even at 4 devotion you're gaining 12 life. He's a bigger bomb there than he is in single player.

@Tyrannosary, I do like Sorin Markov , but this is a standard deck which means that I can not use him because he is modern. I chose Silence the Believers over Hero's Downfall because of all the indestructible cards in block right now. I think is is overall a better fit for my deck as well. Although I will definitely consider sideboarding it for superfriend decks.

@asasinater13, first of all thank you for all the advice. Quag Sickness is not something I am willing to remove for some of the same reasons, its ability to remove indestructible cards and gods is just too beneficial. You are absolutely correct about Champion of Stray Souls however, it is just a cool filler card. I love the idea of Gray Merchant of Asphodel in this deck, I think you are correct that it would be better than Corrupt . For now, until I get one more of them I think i will remove Worst Fears and Corrupt and replace it with 3x Gray Merchant of Asphodel . Underworld Connections seems interesting, but to be honest with you, I dont think I would replace anything in my deck with it. What do you think about maybe sideboarding 2x Whip of Erebos just in case I need more life? Also, if I drop Hythonia the Cruel , it will give me another chance to use the creatures in my graveyard.

@falconmatt, I love Nightmare for this deck, and when i get some, they will replace Squelching Leeches in my sideboard, problem is I just don't have any. Haha

alright

asasinater13 says... #11

sideboarding the whip seems good for matches where you'll need more life, such as against some burn or heavy aggro. Also consider Gift of Orzhova to the same end, the whip has much more utility but he gift can also come in to help against fliers like Stormbreath Dragon .

also in the sideboard, Baleful Eidolon seems kind of not the best thing to put there, what is that there to go against?

To be honest, before i got Spiteful Returned , it was in my deck and it played well. I just stuck it in the sideboard because i didn't have anything better. Haha. I am reworking my sideboard soon though. I like the idea of Gift of Orzhova in this deck, once again, i am just not sure what i would pull out of the main deck for it...

May 28, 2014 12:10 a.m.

asasinater13 says... #13

I feel like Gift of Orzhova could be sideboarded for when needing lifegain or flying. doesn't really need mainboard space, but in the matches the flying/lifegain are relevant I'm doubting Quag Sickness will be too needed. I'm still not sure I see a need for a 4-of there mainboarded.

What makes Bile Blight a 4-of mainboard, what are you trying to take out with it (other than preparing for a pack rat or elspeth)

May 28, 2014 12:34 a.m.

Scytec says... #14

Fleecemane Lion is popular at my FNM. As are Tidebinder Mage and Banisher Priest . Not to mention I can block an indestructible, then use Bile Blight to actually destroy it. My friend runs a deck that is based around Hexproof, and Indestructibility. So this deck right now is designed to compete with him. But I have not yet played a game that I didn't use every Bile Blight I drew, it is just always useful.

I've made revisions to this deck based on different comments from a few different people. But I would like to thank asasinater13 for the majority of new ideas. If you have a deck you would like me to take a look at, post it here or on my wall, I will gladly check it out.

What do you think of replacing Spiteful Returned with Lifebane Zombie ?

May 28, 2014 3:12 a.m.

asasinater13 says... #17

judging by what you said about Fleecemane Lion at your FNM, lifebane would be pretty decent. doesn't do as much vs blue matchups, maybe a sideboard cards. something instead of spiteful would be good though. Brain Maggot has less kill power but will have a much better effect on someone's hand, while the lifebane could be sided in for vs something with green or white creatures. or if you prefer maining the lifebane and siding the maggot for vs control that would also be good

May 28, 2014 9:14 a.m.

Scytec says... #18

To be honest, the reason I like Lifebane Zombie so much is for intimidate. I love the idea of an unblockable 3 drop in black. But you are right, perhaps the sideboard would be the best place for him. I am thinking about switching out Spiteful Returned though. Just not sure what to replace him with. I am not big on hand control in this deck, it has never been my preferred playstyle, or I would run Thoughtseize . So Brain Maggot is not really an option for me. Maybe I'll look at some other standard 2 drops and see what I like. I would like to not ruin my mana curve as well. Haha.

Perhaps Blood Scrivener would be a good replacement...

asasinater13 says... #20

I could see Blood Scrivener work. If you want Lifebane Zombie you could test him out and see how he works for you, whatever feels best for you

Scytec says... #21

I think I will try both. Thanks

NyanFries says... #22

Erebos, God of the Dead could be nice to add some draw power to your deck. Also helps with the pesky Ajani, Mentor of Heroes , "Gain 100 life". And with your devotion element of the deck, you could have a nice 5/7 indestructible.

May 29, 2014 4:56 p.m.

Scytec says... #23

NyanFries: you are correct, he would be good, I used to have him side boarded, but decided to remove him in place of Pithing Needle however I am considering putting him back in place of Corrupt , what would you recommend?

May 30, 2014 12:07 a.m.

asasinater13 says... #24

I think you could drop Pithing Needle down to a two-of in the sideboard, or the needle to 3 and the Crypt Incursion to a 3. unless your meta is extremely high amounts of superfriends or monsters the needle doesn't need to be a 4, adn the crypt incursion likewise unless there's a lot of golgari graveyard-matters builds.

I would take out the 4x Spiteful Returned . Not sure what I would really replace them with. You're going to have a LOT of spare mana running these combos. I find I love kill spells personally, especially in Black decks, but maybe move the Worst Fears and 2x Corrupt and then maybe throw in a Doom Blade for fun, or maybe a simple Diabolic Tutor so you can choose something from your deck.

I would love a Worst Fears in my Standard since you can't use my favorite planeswalker Sorin Markov .
