Nice! I have a similar deck but with walls to stall for The Rack and Shrieking Affliction to do their damage, your Phyrexian Obliterator should set your opponents back for a pretty good stall. Some other cards you could look at includes Browbeat for burn or draw, Terminate or Dreadbore for killing creatures, Funeral Charm is a 1 black mana instant discard so you can make your opponent discard right after they draw. Funeral Charm can also be used for its +2/-1 to boost your creatures or kill theirs.

Also Bloodgift Demon works to either draw yourself if you need cards, or force your opponent to draw (+ lose 1 life) and then discard for Liliana's Caress to do its damage. Also Sign in Blood works similarly.

I'm trying to work a little green into my deck so it can handle enchantments.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestions. Funeral Charm s were replaced with Thoughtsieze. I also used to run Terminate s but they are a dead draw sometimes so they got replaced by Gatekeeper of Malakir . I'm digging the Bloodgift Demon , I have a set but 5 cmc seems high for a competitive deck. Still, I might test it out.

How about replacing the Liliana's Caress by a couple of Sinkhole , much more instantly disruptive for the opponent in my (limited) experience.

Sounds good. Got $60 to give me so I can go get em ; ) ?

Are looking at a stricter 8rack, or just a discard deck? It seems like this deck has a lot of win cons outside of the typical 8rack style, so it might not ever really need The Rack . I would probably drop Liliana's Caress . You'd be better off forcing discard on t2, and if you play it later in the game it limits how beneficial it can be to you. You should definitely try to fit Inquisition of Kozilek in here somewhere.I would decide whether you want straight 8rack, or a black discard deck with win cons like Phyrexian Obliterator , and they just try and focus on that a little more.

+1, super sweet deck.

May 27, 2014 10:07 p.m.

Nice name and deck. +1.

Why are you making it Legacy though? The only stoping it from being moder is Hymm to Tourach. If it's gonna be a Legacy deck, it should have more Legacy cards. I cannot describe my love of turn 1 Swamp Dark Ritual into Lili, +1 when she hits. And a Perish in the sideboard couldn't hurt.

May 27, 2014 10:19 p.m.

Thanks. I'll rethink my plans for it now

May 27, 2014 10:36 p.m.

If you're keeping it Legacy, try to get some Badlands . if you're going Modern, some good replacements for Hymm to Tourach include Funeral Charm , Inquisition, Vampire Nighthawk and Dark Confidant

May 27, 2014 11:41 p.m.

Indeed, i always want Badlands for this ; )

While it can occasionally hit a card in hand, Extirpate is best left in the sideboard.

May 30, 2014 2:36 p.m.

I think Dark Ritual would be a good replacement for Extirpate .

NotSoLuckyLydia is right. When I first joined magic, I made a deck that could be Modern legal, but I refused for months because I was so in love with Dark Ritual . Such a beast card.

How does that(tweaked MB&SB) look to you? I dig it.

I'd cut Liliana's Caress for the final two rack effects. I think they're just better in the damage department.

May 30, 2014 11:07 p.m.

Hmmm I did used to have it like that...

Hey there kmcree!! I know this could be modern, but I love my Hymn to Tourach s too much. I know I need to get some Inquisition of Kozilek but I can't afford it yet. I know that most builds don't run creatures, but I feel wierd without(inner ramper speaking) so I have 8-I could be convinced to drop down to only 4 obliterators though-not sure if I'd cut them. Feel free to give me any ideas/thoughts/critiques you can think of. I do have a full set of Funeral Charm too. Basically the numbers you see here are what I have.

Alright, so my first suggestion is to play with the mana base a little bit. I would drop all 4 Mountain s, you don't want any lands that don't produce B (except utility lands like Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace ). Fill in those slots with some combination of: Swamp , Blackcleave Cliffs , and/or Dragonskull Summit .

My second thought is that I'm not sure 8Rack has a ton of potential in competitive legacy. I really think you'd be better off switching to Modern if you're looking to play competitively. I know its not the same as Hymn to Tourach , but you could fill that slot with Wrench Mind and have at least a similar effect.

You should definitely drop the 2 Vampire Nighthawk and the 2 Hypnotic Specter . If you want to keep the Phyrexian Obliterator that's fine, but I might consider dropping down to 2-3. I would also work on getting 4 Inquisition of Kozilek . They really are essential to the deck. Having 8 1 drop targeted discard spells that allow to choose is absolutely key.

Now the next issue is having a way to deal with opponents' threats after they hit the board. The beauty of going B/r with 8Rack is that red provides tons of great removal options. You already have Lightning Bolt , but Terminate is another great option. You could also throw in either a couple more burn spells (in my build I chose Incinerate , but its really up to you based on meta and personal preference). Dismember is another great option, either sideboard or main depending on meta.

I think you already know about Ensnaring Bridge , but I'll just reiterate how amazing it is. It really fits perfectly in this deck, and its an absolute must include. Definitely something to save up and work towards acquiring.

The last component to dealing with creatures is mass removal. For this, your best budget option is Anger of the Gods . Its definitely not a bad choice, but the double red might be difficult to get to in some situations. Your best bet is Damnation , another perfect fit for this deck. But again, its expensive. I'm not really sure that I like Toxic Deluge . You really can't afford to pay much life most of the time.

I know what I just described is pretty similar to my build. That's the general route I chose to take. There is, however, another option. You could build around the synergy between Dakmor Salvage , Raven's Crime , and Smallpox . A couple other great cards to consider are Delirium Skeins to get around Leyline of Sanctity and Infernal Tutor to find answers when you need them.

I know that's a lot of info to digest. Sorry for the essay. Haha. If you have any other questions or want to talk about something more specifically, let me know!

I used to run Nezumi Shortfang in my deck because when he flips hes another rack!! +1 for an awesome RACKdos deck
