Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed is the other main commander you could look into if you wanted. But personally I like Lili more.

Updated the Primer. Also, I need to thank you chooch. Our...discussion yesterday really made me think about things. I attempted to address issues you brought up in my primer.

I hadn't looked through the primer in a while, so I hadn't realised, how poorly I conveyed my intentions with the deck. I hope the updates touches on each problem area. So I thank you for your outside perspective. If any issues or question persists, please vocalize them.

Also, in the vein, if there are any cards not mentioned in the primer that aren't obvious, please alter me. I want to make the deck's intentions clear. And that goes for anyone, if you have any questions about anything related to this deck, do ask. If you have a question, chances are, someone else might as well. Part of this Primer is to enlighten the less initiated with the deck type.

I should also note, cooch that the deck is expensive "intentionally" to be expensive, it's just good cards fetch a high price. Certain card are played in modern and the recent spikes have increased the decks price by almost a 1/3 of it's current price. I want the deck to be as efficient as possible and reanimator tends to looks like a "goodstuff" build. Good card are good, no matter what format.

@NecroPony first off, I'm totally jealous. Wish I could go to an EDH FNM. Secondly, Mazirek, Marath and Nahiri all use tokens quite heavily, so why not Virulent Plague for shrinking them down to size? As a counter-point, you also haz no Grave Titan. Could I get an explanation why? Not arguing but curious. Hero's Downfall is a decent way to kill Planeswalkers. Scour from Existence kills Iona as well. Gate to Phyrexia kills the Nahiri player. Only ones I can think of at the moment but if I find anything else I'll give you a call.

Scour and downfall have both been removed for not doing enough for their mana costs. They were both 1 shot effects. As for Grave Titan I don't remember. In theory, he makes good sense, a 6/6 with deathtouch for 6 seems alright and then the zombies. Seems like a good reanimator target, but in actual playtests, he was lackluster. He was excellent filler, but doesn't really do a lot, I guess? I don't know. We'll see is sleep brings the answers.

My hang up is it costs so much. at the time of death is a ridiculous cost. I'll test it, but you need to find the spot enpc.

Personally, I'd cut Phyrexian Obliterator. While he's cool, he's effectively just a 5/5 unblockable. And his cost makes him prohibitive (even in a mono black deck).

I had no problem casting this evening. Also, I don't swing with it, it's a perfect blocker. As such people tend to ignore it until they have an answer, and after they attempt to answer it and it ends up in my grave for one reason or another, I reanimate it and start the game anew.

Then maybe cut Merciless Executioner as you already have Fleshbag Marauder. And you have a crap load of other sac effects already.

Alright. I'll test it. It doesn't guarantee it's going to stay in. In fact, I'm doubtful but hey, maybe I'll be surprised.

That's fair. All I know is I have had a good history with it in my Saffi deck. To the point where people get nervous when I play it.

If you get a chance btw, I would be interested to see what you think of the deck: Just Stay Dead. The primer is horribly out of date (which I am slowly updating) and I'm still missing some fetchlands. But its still pretty damned fun to play.

I prefer my removal to be on creatures, so that they're reusable. The one use removal is harder to justify. That's why my only nonwrath, noncreature removal is Ashes to Ashes because it's a 2 for one. In any event, thank for taking a look and commenting! I appreciate it.
