Death Star Sydri is an awesome name for the deck. It makes sense. Charge up (gain life) then fires, destroying a planet in one go (kills a player).

It's some Starkiller Base level shit when it has lifelink. Then you just destroy all the planets (players) at the same time.

i finished the sydri storm list. but i think it is bad. this is the first storm deck ive been scared to cast ad nas in, but it is usually fine, since i can use tendrils to gain back most of the life. due to it being storm and using the new , worse turnabout and an abundance of mana rocks i can dump hands like i should and keep steam up. note however that white doesnt have too many useful cantrips, so some of it is filler to allow me to keep gaining storm so i can mind's desire for more. give me those thoughts. Call Forth the Death Star deck list here

sonnet666 Oh I'm sorry, am I good to approach your high and might thrown and bow before your high horse sir? K thanks.

I don't agree with General Tazri or Yisan, the Wanderer Bard being tier one for a lot of reasons. As far our resident Ally general is concerned allies are just bad. Super powerful and explosive ON YOUR TURN, not consistently. To put that in perspective, an average game has 4 players. Your allies have every keyword under the sun 1/4th of the time. So they are good 25% of the time. That is nowhere near good enough to be tier one. In my opinion, anything that involves attacking as your main way to win the game can not be tier one because someone has Cyclonic Rift or Evacuation or Rout and you're just stopped from wining the game. Arguably that's why I don't think Brago, King Eternal should be considered tier one either. I play Brago Stax, his effect is very powerful but it's kinda hosed by the fact that you have connect for damage instead of just attack like Narset, Enlightened Master. (Although I personally think Narset should be banned because the first time she attacks she chains turn spells and just wins but that's different argument.)

As for Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, all he is is a slow Birthing Pod. And although that is a powerful effect, it's just not fast enough to matter. Also one removal spell or a flicker effect or a bounce will set your back 3 turns.

Plus he's:
1. Mono-green.
2. Not an elf. So there's no support there.
3. He does he have some variation of overrun attached to him. Like Ezuri, Renegade Leader or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa.

He's just bad as a commander. I've played decks with him in it, I've played against him as a commander and I don't think I've ever seen a guy win with him honestly. He just has too many drawbacks. Now if he was hexproof on his own, then maybe he'd be really good but he just isn't.

Thoughts on Padeem, Consul of Innovation in Teferi PW's 99?

Edit: somehow the comments unarchived themselves and we're back to a bazillion? Or is that just me. They popped up after I went to the preview window for this comment.

Watason723 You are both correct, and incorrect.

Yisan and Tazri are both complete shit if you build the decks in a fair manner the way they want you to build them. If you look at Yisan or Tazri and think, "oh, I guess i'll use this ability once per turn cycle", then of course they're going to be garbage.

Of course, the point of EDH is to be degenerate, regardless of what your definition of that is. And when competitive players get degenerate with Yisan or Tazri, they turn into tier 1 combo decks.

could you imagine what wouls happen if you used jeleva for what she was meant for. absolute garbage should be your first thought. you have to use some noggining when you think up these strats my man, dont let ally and human fool you. they are more than that in actuality

Sydri storm? Ooh boy this may be the deck for me.

September 19, 2016 8:34 p.m.

kengiczar the quickest win i can personally get with it is 7, but im pretty sure that if you aren't inept you can get it as early as t3 since you only have to gain 11 life and play sydri and the reservoir to win. i recommend you make your own list, as it will def be better than mine.

I'm also immensely interested in Sydri Storm. I'll also take a crack at this one.

As someone who plays Yisan. "once per turn cycle" "One removal spell" LOL!

Excuse me, I need to go change my pants cause I'm laughing so hard.

Quirion Ranger, Scryb Ranger, Seedborn Muse, Wirewood Symbiote for the first one.

Sylvan Safekeeper for the second among other nasties.

Also, keep in mind that 9 times out of 10 you aren't going to use Yisan on your turn EVER. You use it on an opponent's turn in response to whatever they play. If they go to swords your Yisan you activate him and get safekeeper in response and you're good. Similarly you can do the same in response to someone playing something with an activated ability and get Phyrexian Revoker.

Birthing Pod can only be activated at sorcery speed, Yisan is instant speed and you can EASILY get 2-3 activations in a turn.

I mean there are degenerate stuff you can do with any commander. Doesn't mean it automatically should qualify as tier one. Yeah Tazri has combos and there is protection for Yisan. That doesn't make them way better cards.

so are we going to get a troll everyday now. after i showed off that first time i said i didnt regret it. but if it keeps happening im going to saybsomething i do regret. because this is starting to get super annoying. NarejED, can you work on a brew that can win through resevoir with a stax shell so we can compare storm with ar, stax with ar, and staff stax

Watason723 - They are capable of comboing off extremely quickly and consistently. I believe everyone can agree that Prossh and Scion are T1 decks. Now imagine the Prossh combo with Scion's consistency, and you get a rough idea at why Tazri recently became T1. As for Yisan, look here.

i hope they never print something so mundane looking, but actually busted like tazri again.

I remember when Food Chain Taxri was first talked about, but when did she get upgraded to tier one? Was this recent?

September 19, 2016 10:34 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #18

What's fun about the thing that Merrow posted is that it's not even the best version of yisan. It just happens to be one that explains some of the chains lol.

Avenger is usually worse than hornet queen in Yisan decks, etc.

BTW, I can tell you from experience nothing feels better than Yisan for 6 at my last opponent's end step to get a Woodland Bellower to fetch Shaman of Forgotten Ways, untap and kill the table. Absolutely hilarious.

Aggro-Blaster - We finalized it a bit over a month ago.

Ohthenoises - IKR :) I just needed the most official looking thing that showed why Yisan is good.

There has to be a competitive edric list around somewhere.

I thought we had one? If my memory serves me correctly, it should have been posted about 2.5 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I'm working now, so I can't go digging for it.
