Hotcake_Gotsyrup That's pretty much a meta call. At my lgs everyone runs snow lands that plays competitively so there is one guy who runs regular basics for his extraplanar lens to avoid what you're talking about.

It looks like someone is reviving Sharuum by using the four horseman combo and Torrential Gearhulk. I think some slight inprovements can be made to the list but this seems like a strong take on sharuum that with some tweaking could put her back in contention for tier 1. There is also very good description of this decklist in the cEDH reddit forum.

On a related note I really like Recruiter of the Guard for Sharuum. It grabs both half of sharuum's infinite etb combo Disciple of the Vault and Phyrexian Metamorph.

I got a chance to try out Dramatic Scepter in Azami today. What. The. Hell.

It took me a while to figure out how to find the link because my phone takes me straight to my app but here it is. It doesnt explain everything but it should give you an idea of what this combo is capable of doing. Assemble 4 horseman cast sharuum for gg. There are several ways to finish the combo besides the one the post mentioned which makes me excited.

The Four Horseman? Is that a Now You See Me reference?

Im not sure what your referencing but what I mean is Basalt Monolith + Mesmeric Orb to mill enough of your library to reveal the combo pieces needed to win by casting sharuum once. I think it got the name because it is often used with Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and an eldrazi titan to produce a zombie apocalypse.

Ah. I just read something called the Four Horsemen combo, and wondered where the name came from.

It's called Four Horsemen because in the original deck you would mill your deck to hit 3 Narcomoebas and then flashback Dread Return to reanimate some fatty or Sharuum the Hegemon returning Blasting Station for the win.

So 3 Narcomoebas plus a reanimation target makes four horsemen. :)

Well I'm already running a high density of ramp so that part's covered, I had an opener with Isochron and Sol Ring and I drew into Merchant Scroll, tutored for Dramatic reversal, dropped Isochron, imprinted, got infinite mana from the Fellwar Stone I drew and played in an earlier turn. With the mana dropped Azami and drew out the deck.

I notice there's been a decent amount of Azami, Lady of Scrolls discussion recently, and since we're still missing an example deck I figured I'd throw it out there that I'm in the process of working on optimizing my list, and I've written up a primer for it as well in case you want to use it for the example. My list is by no means finished but I'm intended to optimize it to the best of my ability sooner or later.

Four horsemen was a legacy combo deck that got banned for slow play warnings b/c it ran emrakaul to infinitely mill. The reason for auto-ban was that it had no guarantees for actually going off due to emrakaul. I havent seen the SBT version though.

On a lighter side, I'm trying to optimize rashmi but im used to promoting fun. If someone can suggest some cuts and changes here's the list: Fus-Rash-da

Yeah, if someone else with more experience/credibility has a better Azami list then by all means take that. I just figured I'd go ahead and offer since we don't have one yet.

My current list is based of of Nar's but it doesn't have timetwister or candelabra. Also changed a few counters around to match my meta.

I haven't updated it with the Dramatic Scepter combo but I'll do that tonight.

Azami, Lady of Perfection

Dramatic Scepter is so silly in Azami, and I love that it enables the magical turn 1 win out of nowhere. Candelabra has a ton of potential with the mana doublers Azami has but I don't have one because of the price tag.

My counterspells and removal are almost certainly not optimized yet since it's just what I had laying around at the time/what was useful for my meta, but I'm working fixing that section of the deck.

Yeah, I built an Azami list a while back and have been keeping it fairly up to date. Link. It could probably use a bit more tweaking, but I'm just about happy with where it's currently at.

Personally, I feel that Teysa (envoy) shouldn't be a T5. I have had a lot of success with a Teysa deck. Teysa can be used as a rather good way of killing irritating creatures as you can just threaten some creatures with letting them through. As Orzhov decks have a little bit of life gain through extort, you can usually afford to do so.

Plus, Cenobite and Experiment Kraj should be in Tier 1 for their usefulness and annoyance. Cenobite can cause a 1/1 to trade with a 5/5 and the experiment can steal the opposing commanders' abilities.
