MagicalHacker: You sure you wanna open that can of worms?
Edit: Damnit, beaten to using the same exact line. Nooooooo.

Im guessing the discrepancy is due to the fact that most magic players are awkward guys with questionable social skills. Moreover, many women are dismissed and/or treated with scorn when they do play magic among men and act like dickwads when they lose "to a girl." I've heard poor hygiene is also a factor. Im guessing none of those factors appeal to women much? Of course I am not talking about any you fine individuals, just those casual edh-ers.
EDIT: Oops I opened the can and spilled it on the floor

and btw your Sharuum the Hegemon list isn't working anymore ;)

Kiyomeii just take the Zur Doomsday list, remove Oblivion Ring and Grasp of Fate, and replace them with Chromatic Lantern and a bounce spell. A storm combo can work with any Esper commander and it's usually the best option (the only exception I can think of is Sharuum). The only reason it's listed under Zur is because he grabs Necropotence whenever he attacks, so it's the best one by a large margin. Sen Triplets could also be decent for the strategy though - if you need gas and your opponent has something juicy in hand, you can play it from their hand and get your combo going that way.

In my deck I use Oona, Queen of the Fae as my commander and its a deck that focuses on mill and very heavy hitters. its Black and Blue do you think that this is the best commander for my deck. Faerie

fuck you too Lilbrudder :p
I'll have you know that my hygiene is as good as a koala's.
My spouse plays magic at pre-release events and more casual stuff. I know a good amount of women who also play in my community. Might be because I'm in Canada? But it is true that the population is mainly male when it comes to players.

Has anyone ever played in a match with a solid Derevi player? What's a good way to play against it?

Cant help you there noctem, I play brago king stax. It's really hard to do STAX vs STAX. in other news, i nominate the new pirate commander for T4 tentative, possibly t3 if more sac outlets become a thing. Abu is definitely t0.
Also from a flavor perspective i want to see Abu (the legendary monkey token) get the Hero's Blade

@Noctem
Against Derevi, mulligan until you have a hand with interaction. Derevi's gonna drop down dorks into hatebears a vast majority of the time. You want your stuff to go live the turn after their ramp comes out. Unlike most of Tier 1, with Derevi, what you see is what you get in most cases as the deck draws a lot of its functionality from sticking permanents down. Familiarize yourself with Derevi's stax pieces, the hatebears run in those lists, and be prepared to kill value engines on sight. Stuff like Fauna Shaman, Tezzeret the Seeker , Birthing Pod, Captain Sisay, and Yisan, the Wanderer Bard can't be allowed to live. Reserve your Strip Mine for Gaea's Cradle and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. If you're not planning on interacting with Derevi, Godspeed. Derevi doesn't pack a lot of disruption so it's possible to combo under his nose, but count on running into hatebears along the way.

@Noctem i also run a derevi list and have a little bit about how to play against it in my description... it's far from finished but hope it helps An illusion? What are you hiding? (STAX) (Tier 1)

So, throwing my hat in to the Tazri ring. I Feel Dirty Now.
Had to make some budget concessions like no Imperial Seal but I figure Dark Petition makes a good substitute.
Thoughts?

My advice for dealing with Derevi: Save your removal for the stax pieces that really hurt your strategy. Otherwise, you can largely ignore her. Derevi hasn't been huge threat competitively in a while. She's overdue for a demotion. If you're playing a true tier 1 deck like Zur or Prossh, you shouldn't have too much issue playing around her.

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician. wont be competitive unless that person is playing, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds + Ashnod's Altar then Stonewood Invoker. Thats how you know your not playing without casuals.

Its not actually that bad of a combo. Especially if you have a high quality mana sync like Tower of Fortunes

Have any of you used Fire Covenant? It seems incredible for cedh. A 3 mana instant one sided board wipe. Yes it feeds off the same resource as Ad Nauseam and Necropotence but many games you wont have either and the power to cost ratio seems ridiculous.

I think it is the only red card in the linked FCT list. It's really good for cleaning up multiple hatebears at eot for the cost of about 5-7 life.

@MagicalHacker You're opening a whole can of worms there that's probably not appropriate for this discussion thread and could lead to a flame war as it often does wherever else it's brought up. There are probably a lot of factors and anyone who thinks there's just one answer might as well be selling you snake oil. I think there's a place to discuss gender dynamics in the MtG community but a thread where we shoot the shit about cEDH tier rankings might not be that place, especially since the lack of female players isn't exclusive to cEDH.
