The fact that Teeg remains as a Tier 2 is a bit silly. If you can't fine even one optimized and current list on all of TappedOut and nobody plays the deck and nobody can describe a reasonable and consistent win-con then its not a deck. I understand that 4 or 5 years ago ago Gaddock Teeg was a thing. EDH has chamged a lot since then. Everybody plays low curves, every black deck runs Deluge. And the idea that you can't find a list because it's meta dependent is a bad cop out. By that measure any commander using hatebears is meta dependent... yet it's easy to find lists for Sisay, Karador, Alesha.

I love Teeg he's my boi from way back but realtalk: drop him from Tier 2 or put up a list that consistently threatens to win.

I agree with Gaddock Teeg not being tier 2. I've argued this before, and I think tw0handt0uch is right (and frankly presented a better argument than me). Teeg is a card I constantly think about cutting in my own Karador list-- at this point the only thing it really does is give GSZ another thing to hit if I don't want a dork, Saffi, Caustic Caterpillar or Rec Sage. When the top decks mostly only run Ad Nauseam as their only cmc>=4 card, Teeg is probably one of the worst hatebears available and it's not exciting to run him in the command zone compared to Sisay, who fetches for far better things each turn like Linvala, Thalia, and Kataki.

On the note of Selesnya commanders, I think it's worth paying attention to whether Saffi becomes considerably stronger with Renegade Rallier. As I've noted before, it's unique in that it's a combo piece tutorable with Summoner's Pact and Green Sun's Zenith and can win the game with Greater Good (which is unique as a sac outlet in that it's tutorable with Idyllic Tutor) if you have two cards in hand plus Altar of Dementia and Mana Crypt still in your deck. Recently Saffi was dropped down from t2 to t3, which I don't think was wrong (although I advocated more for Teeg being the GW commandee to take the plunge), but Saffi should have now gotten considerably more consistent and could become a contender for t2 again.

I've come out of lurking semi-retirement to say that I also approve of a change to half-tiers. While I fought the good fight against the dreaded and useless tier 6 for a while, there's been so many changes to the EDH landscape over the past few months and the current 5-tier plan doesn't cut it anymore. I'm still against smashing tiers 4 and 5 together as that wouldn't accurately reflect power level (even among crappy generals few people care about), but splitting up the top tiers seems correct.

Don't forget to separate the deck lists as well

@NarejED lol 2.5.... this list has become an utter joke, no offense but can you define the difference between 2 and 2.5 please, i'd love to have a detailed explanation of your personal opinion on that... Also a derevi on a same level as a meren, narset, mimeo or oona? i think you got your logics backwards.... it wasn't a bad idea to divide tier 1 in to two , that by all means is quite okay from a personal viewpoint of people ... but 2.5 haha ...

To anyone who doesn't already know, Kiyomeii is a notorious troll on this list. Their opinions typically are unfounded, and their grammar leaves something to be desired. Usually you can just ignore them and they'll go away.

I like the changes. I think this list has incorporated and surpassed the insights presented by Competitive EDH Tier List.

So it occurred to me yesterday that Feldon + Thousand-Year Elixir + Worldgorger Dragon in the grave is an infinite loop for infinite mana, or if you have a purphorous or valakut, damage.

January 23, 2017 7:25 p.m.

I think Kaalia should perhaps be moved to tier 2.5, as she's not much weaker than Alesha

In the tier 3 decklists section, Ezuri links to a Surrak Dragonclaw deck. Please fix.

Well @Leinahtan , are you genuinely that simple? ... grammatically correct or not, you are the one here with the least profound opinions, and just calling out people "trolls" is enough to treat you as non factor to any kind of discussion... Someone who disagrees with you is not actually a troll by default you nitwit...

as far as trolling goes "The Grammar Nazi Trolling" is really childish and makes you look like a horrible person/kid...anyway i'd like you to Grow up and leave if you can't handle opinions that well, because i don't think you could even formulate an answer that comes anywhere close to common sense as of why a commander is 2 or 2.5...

Anyway i'm done with someone as low as you /Ignored...

Will everyone stop attacking each other? This list is for discussing the tier placement, not the place for personal attacks.

If you want to get into a flame war go to your walls and get off this thread.

I'm not usually one to call for peace, but Ohthenoises is right. Fighting without a deck really isn't something y'all should be doing. If only because if you say something on here you may later regret, you can't delete it. (It sucks when you make a typo so i'm really not sure why you can't make edits but that's besides the point)

@Trtl: You can edit your own comments within a few minutes of posting them if you're an upgraded user. You can also delete specific comments made on decks that you own.

Amazing changes. Having tiers 1.5 and 2.5 really helps establish the best commanders in tiers 1 and 2 and allows for a more dynamic list, where there probably needs to be less risk of dropping a deck into the obscurity of tier 3 unless it truly deserves to be there.

I think with the introduction of Walking Ballista that Mikaeus should be bumped up to tier 2.5, it basically made the combo go from 12 mana with triskellion to 6 mana since you cast ballista for 0 and infinite. I am not sure we have a list of him, but still worthy to be moved up. Also, why is Derevi tier 2 over 1.5?

Also, I believe Nath and Zedruu were moved up recently and they somehow moved back to tier 3 on no discussion. Possibly an error.

viperfang4: Ballista doesn't actually combo with Mikaeus. After the first death, it comes in with only one counter which would be fine, except that Mike gives it a static +1/+1 on top of the undying.

You can still use it in conjunction with things like Viscera Seer but at this point it's a three card combo, similar to the Blasting Station loops he already runs.

enpc, good catch on Nath.

I don't quite get the difference between tier 2.5 and tier 2, from my experience Rasmi is fully equal to Momir Vig and Queen Marchesa is nearly 90% the same deck as Alesha. I like the changes but this is way too "casuistic". I'd just mix the tiers 2 and 2.5 while leaving tiers 1 and 1.5 as they are :). Good job :)!

Tier 2 commanders have a fighting chance in tier 1 pods, but tier 2.5 are a couple cards away from relevance. They would require far more luck to win games and are slightly slower than there tier 2 counterparts.

Rashami is still too unexplored to earn tier 2 status. As soon as she was spoiled there were like 5 new commanders that stole her thunder. If a good decklist could be found perhaps she could move up. I agree she has potential to be even with vig and possibly surpass him.

While its true that marchesa and alesha share cards, alesha is a more useful general and can combine stax and combo quite well. Marchesa is much more of a value city pubstomper.
