DarkEclipse18 the premise of this list is that the most optimal deck for the commander is considered. Not the price. Everyone's budget is assumed infinite with the full legal cardpool and these decks are the ranking of decks based on consistency, speed and overall matchup.

Hey I was wondering if I could get some input on my Gonti, Lord of Luxury list here. After playing with for while don't think it's optimized as I think an optimized Gonti list is just another Ad Nauseam list like Sidisi. So I was trying for a bit of a different approach but I'm not sure it's working as well as I want. Any constructive criticism would be great.

What's the diffrence between tier 1, 1.5, a 2?

I believe teir 1 is the best of the best. teir 1.5 is really really good, but noticeably weaker than T1. Teir 2 can compete with teirs 1 and 1.5 and sometimes steal a win; they, for the most part are clearly worse then t1

Tier 1 = Alphas

Tier 1.5 = Betas

Tier 2 = Young upstarts and grey beards

Tier 2.5 = Pups, Has Beens and Pretenders

Tier 3 = Small fish in a big lake

Tier 4 = Little fish in a small pond

Tier 5 = Fish Food

It seems to me that the top tier generals sacrifice consistency for sheer speed. Like most of the Tier 1 generals can be shut down by a jester's cap, Pithing Needle, or a sphere effect. The tier 1.5 generals, for the most part, in my opinion, seem better in metas full of combo hate.

While there is some truth in what you say, many tier 1 decks are usually faster AND more consistent. If you try to stop them with targeted hate a tier 1 deck will usually beat you before you can activate your hate (jesters cap) or remove it along the way with ease (pithing needle). Being overly linear is a tier 1.5 trait. Zur is not a 1 trick pony, Sidisi, Undead Vizier is. Zur can fold to losing labman, but then Skuloth will eat your soul and you will lose the game. I agree that many tier 1 combo decks can be shut down with stax (sphere effects).

I haven't checked out these rankings in a little while, but what does Seton, Krosan Protector do that makes him tier 2.5 while Azusa, Lost but Seeking is tier 3?

In fact, there are at minimum three generals in the tier 2.5 list that I feel are straight worse than Azusa. I think her placement should be reevaluated.

IMO seton might just be there since turning druids into mana dorks (since druids seem to overlap well with druids). its the only conclusion I can come to on why its better than azusa. I dont think either of them deserve higher placement than t2 at the moment.

Sacrificed a bit of speed for recover-ability (not sure how to word ability to recover) and combo power. Plenty of interchangeable parts, ways to recover when board wiped. Should be every bit as consistent as tier 3 should be.

Suggestions welcome.

I'd also like to see a possible reevaluation of Purphoros, God of the Forge from tier 2.5 to tier 2. Even as a mono-color commander, with his ability to target everyone, he would be a big threat to any game. The way I made my deck also enforces a good amount of control in terms of Blood Moon and Ensnaring Bridge.

I would like to petition that Archangel Avacyn  ^Flip deserves to be at least a tier higher (from 4 to 3). She's much better than she looks, when built well. I can easily murder optimized Tier 2 and even Tier 1.5 lists with my list (which incorporates a lot of stax elements):

So I realize that commander is typically a multiplayer format, however a lot of people will play 1v1 as well. Is there a way to adjust this list with 1v1 matchups in mind or maybe make a new list for that?

I feel Kaseto, Orochi Archmage should be 1 teir higher (teir 3) but I may be biased being a kaseto player myself

I also think all terrible commanders should be 1 tier higher. Cause one time I built a deck with them and then I beat someone playing Zur.

What a sick burn! Really though, SlyTen674, If you can build a deck that is overwhelmingly powerful with Kaseto, Orochi Archmage at the helm then I will gladly support his moving to Tier 3. But until then, he's just not strong enough to warrant a promotion.
