20 zombie tokens isn't even enough damage to kill 3 people.

besides, by turn 10 i could easily have out a seedborn muse with hexproof and a vedalken orrery, AND a consecrated sphinx. It would shut down a ghoulcaller gisa any day of the week :/

See I ran a Stax deck with ghoulcaller Gisa (Like actual factual Smokestack/Descent into Madness

I would T3 Contamination with a returnable creature in play (let's use Reassembling Skeleton as an example) that package had great synergy with Skullclamp too.

After that I used Gisa's tokens as a way to break parity on Smokestack.

My group hated me and it was really unfun to play so I never bothered to tune it too much but honestly that's the only way I could see Gisa being ok

You have to either link the deck through the deck link button at the top of the comments box or through an html a tag.

Zenaku17, Ok, seriously, stop.

This isn't deck help, your list is not going to make Bontu cEDH material, you probably aren't going to want a cEDH deck if you're looking to play with friends, and posting your deck here does not add anything meaningful to the discussion of this list.

Go post your deck here if you want advice. I'm sure you will find plenty of people who will be happy to give you their opinion on it. However, this is not the place for this.

Ghave should be WAY BETTER on this list. on /r/competitiveEDH he's listet ultimate tier. Sure that's for 1v1 but all his kill cons are infinite combos, and since he really doesn't care much about opponents, he just plays solitaire and wins. First he rams(no target) with manadudes and ramp and casts Ghave on T3. Then wins on T4/T5 with some infinite combo(he has several). Even if he gets disrupted, he just has about 5-7 Infinte Win Combos that overlap partly, making the deck REALLY HARD to beat.

TL;DR: Ghave should be Tier1 or Tier0

Question: this is intended to be a competitive ranking system, right? And the rankings are based on multiplayer pods, right? But aren't most EDH tournaments 1v1?

Hey guys, been away for a few months. Sorry about that. Life got in the way.

Reading the comments for some time, it has become apparent to me that the longer the list stays up, the more people we have adding to the conversation. Until the general EDH crowd's knowledge base about cEDH expands (that'll probably take a long time since we have 0 good communicators), a ton of the opinions that will be posted here will be atrocious. Democracy's really not the way to go for this list. Even I don't feel comfortable talking about something like 50% of the generals out of a fear of misspeaking and spreading poor info. Meanwhile we have lots of poor quality posts get dropped here. It's almost like you're fighting against the tide. I don't know if I'm the only one feeling this way or if steps have been taken to address this. I've been pretty washed up, so I'm clueless. I just cringe at some of the things said in the last few weeks.

BaronBS: The cEDH community just had a multiplayer tournament and people play in cEDH pods both on cockatrice and Play EDH nightly, which plays with paper cards via webcam. We have more results to base our decisions on than ever before. The issue is no longer data but that the vast majority of people who post on this decklist are ignorant of just how powerful tier 1-2 decks are as TheDevicer pointed out. For instance the fastest combo decks in existence can win on turn 3 or earlier over 50% of the time and on turn 2 a little under 20% of the time. A general like Ghave is just ok. Hes barely competitively viable anymore with 4 color lists, simply because he is mana hungry, commander centric, and lacks blue to protect his combos. Just because a general dominates in your competi-casual meta does not mean he can beat Zur or Thrasios, or Teferi. I have little hope this situation becomes remedied any time soon

Can we get a tana-tymna pod combo list on here sometime? I think it's supposed to be at least tier 2 if not 1.5 according to the cEDH subreddit.

Yes the tymna tana pod lists are quite strong. This is a good example of the build:

I know this is a bit off topic, but what's everyone's opion on Dryad Arbor in cEDH? Half the time, I feel like people are only running it for GSZ and the rest of the time it's a basic with severe downsides. I feel like it's a bit too ubiquitous given it's drawbacks.

tw0handt0uch says... #18

Dryad arbor is cedh playable. Like you mentioned its primary use is to ramp turn 1 off GSZ but it can also draw a card off Tymna (in The aforementioned T/T pod deck), sac to Natural Order / Eldritch Evolution, / Pod, pitch to Survival / Fauna Shaman, add fuel to Gaea's Cradle, sac'd to Food Chain, or be tutored using a creature tutor after a Geddon. It does occasionally feel awkward so I'd keep it out of decks that don't want to be doing the above stuff

Also a bit off topic, what is the best aggro deck? I have Captain Sisay & Zur the Enchanter built but it's a bit more Hatebear/Stax-y, and an aggro/creature beatdown deck would be nice to add to my collection of cEDH decks.

I'm also not sure if there are any even viable, as most of the time the aggro/beatdown decks never even phase me...

Lilbrudder Ah -- I wasn't trying to get in on the current thread of conversation, but was genuinely confused. I didn't know there was a real cEDH circuit in multiplayer and that most tournaments (on mtgtop8/goldfish etc) were 1v1. Thanks for clarifying.

Dryad Arbor is essential in one of the multiple different instant speed win conditions you can put in your The Gitrog Monster deck.. You can Necromancy a Dryad Arbor to sacrifice to Crop Rotation and search and what not. I dont want to explain the whole mechanic on here but yes. I run gitrog and if I start with GSZ in hand I go for it. Otherwise i dont usually play in until I need it.

Besides Gitrog using it too combo I think its just extra ramp in other competitive decks.

Arvail says... #22

Oh I'm aware of the potential uses of Dryad Arbor. I just keep seeing it pop up every now and then in decks where I don't think it has much value. I think the most notable example I've run into over the course of the past few years is epo's damia list. He used to run it a while back and he only had GSZ. I commented about it and he took it out. I didn't mean to make it sound like it didn't belong in the above partner deck. Looking back, that was pretty poorly placed. I should have clarified. It just reminded me of something that's irked me for years.

Maybe Dryad Arbor's just a trap that many people looking to enter cEDH fall into. Do any of you have similar experiences with any cards?

May 23, 2017 5:58 p.m.

tw0handt0uch says... #23

Praetor's Grasp is a trap card. So is Consecrated Sphinx. So is Arcane Denial.

Gates88 says... #24

Dryad Arbor is part of one of the best Protean Hulk piles available: Nomads En-Kor+Cephalid Illusionist+Grand Abolisher+Dryad Arbor.

(If you're not familiar with the combo, you mill your library with Illusionist+Nomads then sac Illusionist, Nomads, and Dryad Arbor to Dread Return to get back Angel of Glory's Rise, who gets back Lab Maniac and Hapless Researcher)

Dryad Arbor is good in many creature and land based decks. Tutorable with Green Sun's Zenith and fetchlands (Misty Rainforest), the combos played in The Gitrog Monster listed above, value for being a creature for chump blocks or other shenanigans, value for being a land (isn't effected by Cyclonic Rift), and finally being uncounterable as a land drop all make this card an extremely worthy inclusion in nearly any deck that plays green.
