thegigibeast Yea let me get my list together. I have 2 combos that I use. 1 that generates infinite mana/Zombies, and the age old bloodcheif/duskmantle guildmage/mindcrank combo.

thegigibeast HarroHunter Here is my build. He has several game ending combos that are easily tutored. The Scarab God of Zombie Combos

Scarab God is probably best having some infinite mana/zombies with the mana dumps being create x zombies or drains like exsanguinate (Conspiracy + Intruder Alarm + Bloodline Keeper is cool, but probs not great, conspiracy itself might have some decent combo) and/or reanimator style deck where reanimator targets are locks like Jin Gitaxis. Once we find the right deck, he will probably be tier 2 or 2.5, I am unsure how good of a deck can be made with him, but he seems better than tier 3.

sonnet666 and thegigibeast: have things settled enough to take a look at dralnu especially and possibly circu for storm moving up. I will also agree with teneb moving up to tier 2.5 now due to the boonweaver lite idea, especially with reanimating protean hulk with him. There was some other general that was brought up as well that I can't remember.

I have been going through the tier 4 and 5 generals really hard over the past few days, and will be finished probably in a week organizing them better and will post that list for criticisms. There are some gems here that were overlooked, I am just going to mention 1 standout right now: Heidar, Rimewind Master. I think he has potential to climb up to tier 2ish, basically on turn 4 and something like Dramtic Reversal on Isochron Sceptor and a few rocks, u could bounce all opponents permanents (including lands and done at instant speed) to their hands and keep that lock for the rest of the game. With some stasis pieces similar to the Teferi deck, it seems really strong and fairly easy to accomplish. Just something to take a look at as he was overlooked. Him and Ghost Council recently coming out of tier 5 are reason enough to review the lower tiers for accuracy as we have even said we havn't touched them much. I wouldn't mess with anything else in those tiers yet until I can get that list posted, I have probably spent 7 hours on it now and will probably spend around 20-25 hours by the time I get a full description on the reasoning for all of their placements done in an organized manner. Once I finish I can also add sonnet and gigi to the editors list (much like the partner list).

n0bunga I'm not currently rich. Still working on the deck. But if you look at the combos listed in the deck's description, you can see many win cons for this current build that can be tutored easily. I'm not claiming that this is the best version but someone with the cards or funds to build it think will surprise people. The biggest issue with the deck that I've seen is that it's hard to be political with Scarab God on board. He's going to drain everyone regardless. Other than that, tutor whichever combo will work for the current board state. I usually focus on the mindcrank/duskmantle/bloodcheif combo but failing that, there are plenty of options. Kozelik is in there literally because of a local game store that I play at. It's not going to be for everyone but there is a weird amount of mill around my store because people like to be weird. It's literally just to send my grave back into the deck.

XDarthRipperX It was mentioned somewhere in one of the comments on here not too long ago, that a fictional 100% tuned list with no budget limitations is way better to bring to the table than a budget restricted, not as good list. Who cares if you do not own everything in the deck? Use the Crtl+C and Crtl+V and bring a super tuned version here for us to review.

@XDarthRipperX We have said MULTIPLE times that this list is representative of no budget examples.

If you really want to help promote Scarab God get a no budget list drawn up for review.

Can we get something like this posted to the rules? It has become an increasing problem.

viperfang4 says... #8

It is in the rules, people just don't read them. Some of the rules probably need in bold in the very first part of the description.

The Scarab God of Zombie Combos Updated. Not that I'll ever get to playtest this deck but there you go.

Actually there's nothing in the rules about "please only present unbugeted decks, presenting a deck on a budget isn't a fair representation of the commander, we will ask you to come back with an unrestricted version of the deck you submit."

Is Isperia the Inscrutable really tier 4? Built-in tutors have always been very strong (just look at tier 1 and 1.5) but Isperia never seems to get the same kind of praise as the others. She has just about as much utility, grabing some pretty powerful cards (Linvala, Keeper of Silence,Reveillark+Karmic Guide combo, Iona) and while not as strictly game-winning, her ability definitely can be strong. She functions kind of in a realm between Zur and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV and while obviously not as powerful she can hold her own. I have competitive decklist for her, and although not fully tuned, it shows just some of the power that she can have. Just a suggestion, but I'd really like to see her moved up to at least tier 3. Here's the decklist: When You Can't Handle the Power of Storm Crow

The final tribes for C17 seem to be Vampires and (my personal guess) Clerics.

Aztraeuz says... #13

I'm okay with the leaks I've seen so far. Nothing looks too competitive. Last year was very top heavy.

Casual players are going to eat those Dragons up like they did Atraxa.

All in all, looks and sounds like it will be a lot fun, but so far shouldn't shake up cEDH too much, if at all.

viperfang4 says... #14

It likely won't shake up as many things as last year, but ramos and taigum are looking strong.

July 22, 2017 2:03 a.m.

I want to submit a tier 4 lise for avacyn ga. 3 or 4 cards are meta only, or shoe in because I like them. But I think that it can live enough win cons to be "competitive" Protectga!. Dont want her moved, just showing off a list I love that I almost have finished. Just switch reya and other obvious trash for fast mana.

I'd like you guys to take a look at my Krenko deck, I feel he is capable of being on a higher tier than he currently is in a combo shell.

Put some respek on the name.

Azreth wheres the mana vault? mana crypt? why is your lowest combo 3 cards and costing at least around 9 mana just for 2 of the cards? (not counting kiki combo, thats 2 cards but still a lot of mana with no protection)? I know im not going too far into detail, but thats more a job for someone like sonnet666. Im bringing up the most basic points i possibly can

July 22, 2017 1:14 p.m.

thegigibeast says... #18

I'm not sonnet666 but I guess I can also answer ;)

The thing with Krenko is... there are no combos under 3 cards available (except for Zealous + Kiki), and we lack tutors to find them, meaning it is difficult for Krenko to be good on competitive tables. If you wanted your list to be considered more, you are lacking the best tutor red has access to, Imperial Recruiter.

Another problem with mono red is draw, but at least that is well covered in your deck. However, Wheel of Fate is too slow, and you are missing Reforge the Soul. I would cut Wheel of Fate for Imperial Recruiter and Burn at the Stake for Reforge the Soul, since the burn spell can only hit one player and assumes you have a lot of tokens on the battlefield, which will be difficult in competitive games.

Also, you are missing two good goblin sac outlets that can be tutored by your other goblins and are also combo pieces, Goblin Sledder and Mogg Raider. I would cut Reckless One for one of them and would look for another combat reliant goblin like this to cut for the second one.

I would also add more ways to give haste to your creatures that can be played before Krenko. By that I mean haste enablers costing 3 or less mana: Fervor, Hammer of Purphoros, Mass Hysteria and the best you are missing IMO (cause it can slow down opponents at the same time) Ashling's Prerogative.

Last but not least part of my comment, you are missing fast mana in the like of Mana Crypt, Chrome Mox, Mox Opal, Mana Vault and maybe Mox Diamond. This will help getting to your commander faster, accelerating your game plan, and are essential in all competitive decks, since all others run them, if you are not running them you will be behind.

wow thegigibeast, you updated this quite a bit now (at least since i last checked), there is a banned commander section, an explanation section, and more

Kudos to you

Alright, after doing a bit more research I am back. I talked to a bunch of my cEDH mates and got some opinions on Claw of progress. This is what we came up with so far.

EzurggroTech

thegigibeast, You seemed the most interested in this. Here is the link you asked for. I am sure you can think of some stuff to give it a bit of an upgrade, but it still feels like an improvement over the current Optimized Ezuri, Claw of Progress deck that is linked on this page. So I am officially submitting this as a potential deck to be linked here. Let me know what you guys think, what you would change (I can always use more feedback) etc

July 22, 2017 10:50 p.m.

Azreth says... #21

Totally agree with most of those things, that said I have most of the fast mana you're referring to in my current build I just keep it updated to what it's currently at so I have it for my own record keeping.

On the same note however, I can consistently win turn 3/4 and the one currently on here is a straight up aggro deck which is by default weaker than a combo deck in almost any situation. Either way just wanted to throw it out there since I've never seen anyone run it the way I am as the 99% of people who see Krenko can only think of aggro strats. I like the analysis though either way.

Kudos to sonnet666 for this, I was maintaining the list a lot in the past but he was mostly active for the current month. I am getting more active since the last days I want to get back in.

@Erastaroth_The_Duchess_of_Hell

Thanks you very much for the list gonna look as soon as possible (finishing my night shift gonna look later today probably.

Tymna the Weaver is tier 1. She is THE key piece to blood pod, which is the best stax deck in cEDH and is more powerful than Thras in some hate bear heavy hulk/raz Thras and Tymna lists. She is essentially a 4 color Edric who can draw 2-3 cards for free every turn. Just add any 2 colors. She literally makes turning sideways in cEDH a viable strategy. I do not have a list I want to show (just yet) for evidence. I merely want to start the necessary conversation for her to get the respect she deserves.

July 23, 2017 5:55 p.m.

tw0handt0uch says... #24

Yup. Agree with lilbrudder here. The biggest misplacements on this list are Tymna and Rashmi too low and no Blood Pod or Hulk lists of any type represented in the decklists.

July 23, 2017 7:49 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #25

So, Ezuri claw of progress yeah? I've been doing a lot of thinking, given Flash Hulk being available does he deserve a tier up?

Flash is easily tutorable, as is Hulk from their respective colors and if Flash resolves you take infinite turns on the spot barring removal. T2-3 Ezuri, T3-4 Flash with mana up for a counter war. Once you start infinite turns it basically is "draw my deck, play Labman, GG" or any number of other wincons since you are taking infinite turns

(Hulk for Sage of Hours and four 1 drop dorks.)
