Has glimpse of nature always been legal in edh? I had always thought no, but it's not on the banned list.

Yes, it has. It's only really good in Elfball decks, but yeah.

Anyone see the TCC + LabManiacs on the wizard eminence commander? (Name escapes me.)

The 1 card combo is quite cool.

August 27, 2017 9:53 a.m. Edited.

Ohthenoises, Yeah I watched it.

Do you think the fact that it is a one card combo that can go off on turn one makes it strong? I guess we should wait for the budgetless version to really see.

Personally if I was running that deck I would have Deepchannel Mentor as a secondary and optional reanimation target in case you can't connect with Wanderwine Prophets for some reason.

I love how this all started because he was calling it a turn 1 win when its realistically a turn 3 win... and a really unlikely one at that. Removal is really common so you really have no backup when it gets swords, pathed, terminate/vindicated, torpor orbed, hushwing gryffed, etc. Regardless im interested in seeing the Labman's optimized version.

Also time for me to test if storm is better for nekusar or if I should just keep labman and win through infect more efficiently.

That wanderwine prophet spike is insane -.- . I bought it for a fun momir vig wizard tribal (dat tribe tho ;) ) and it was like 30 cents... now europe 7,50euro minimum. Wtf

chaosumbreon87, I think you would have to have the mana open and have instant speed removal. Basically be waiting for it instead of doing something else.

If you hit the token with removal the original just comes back forcing them to pay another mana for the loop again. and even if they don't pay the extra one mana, in a reanimator deck it only sets them back slightly.

What really hurts a deck like that is graveyard hate, not removal.

I think they clarify that with a perfect hand they could pull it off turn one. It is pretty common for cEDH decks to be able to pull off a turn one win with the perfect hand, so it is not really a crazy claim. Most people know that the odds of getting that hand are pretty unlikely.

Personally I hope this is only a taste of what the budgetless version is. I already am thinking that this deck might of been underestimated on the teir list, I personally can't think of any other one card combo. I can't wait to see what the lab maniacs have in store for us.

August 27, 2017 2:20 p.m.

perhaps I mistyped Erastaroth_The_Duchess_of_Hell, you can use the removal noted above in response to the inalla trigger to remove the original. Killing the original or even the token before they get the extra turn is fairly trivial and the wasted mana is very relevant (yay priority cycles after declare attackers and declare blockers). Yes many decks can do turn 1 wins (storm, FC and HD im looking at you) but as pointed out its more realistic that its a turn 3 win. However many of the perfect hands have a probability of [(1/99)7]/(99 choose 7) or approximately 7.20685077e-23% or approximately 4.51215264e-19% due to binomial expansion. Sure I can accept the claim of a turn 1 win but the emphasis of turn 1 was my Anger point.

I would like to (re)submit my list for Kozilek, Butcher of Truth now that I have completed some decent testing with it and adjusted the list accordingly. I have also written a primer for the list to explain my reasoning on quite a few of the cards that most people do not run. As another note, I see that you have Juwdah's list from mtgsalvation and primer as your example for the deck. Although I am a huge fan of his list (it inspired me to actually build the deck and served as a great starting point), he states that he is avoiding combo to a point in an attempt to focus more on combat based wins for his list. He also intentionally leaves out hyper-expensive cards such as Mishra's Workshop and The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale to make his list more accessible. Although this is great for the purposes of introducing someone to the deck, this page has stated many times that it is actively trying to find the highest possible power level available for the deck lists it supplies. Not including the aforementioned cards and avoiding combos when possible, despite the large majority of cEDH being based around them, seems incorrect if you are looking for the maximum power level of a deck/strategy. Either way, I will be happy to discuss it some more if you want (I still believe the deck at the maximum power level to be a solid Tier 2 deck). Here is my (updated) list:

One thing I've discovered in my own Kozilek deck is that Spine + paradox engine is literally the easiest combo in the deck due to its modular nature. You can target Spine with its own destroy trigger and repeat forever. Adding more parts reduces the cost and makes it more flexible. I go into it on my list inspired by yours btw (budget restricted minorly)

I would second Decrepit if I didn't play his literal list with budget exclusions rofl

There are very high disadvantages and advantages to colorless. You lose access to most cards, but the ease of creating infinite colorless mana compared to colored lets you do some crazy things when everything can be cast of that. thegigibeast's list is already very close to Decrepit's list. I am not sure it warrants change, but Decript's does seem more streamlined. Gigi owns this thread and Kozilek is his pet deck he has speant years working on though.

Also, while there is some discussion about my Sliver Overlord list Suicide Slivers, we actually need to rank it. I personally think it is at least tier 1.5 and could be stuck there for now. I also think it does the Bomberman Glory's Rise combo better than Thrasios and Tymna which says a lot when that used to be our list for them. The operatings of the deck until the combo is much like them, and keeps some of the Labman lines for backups/altwins, but the main combo runs like Tazri once I have the mana. Both decks named are tier 1. The deck needs some serious testing to push it there from tier 1.5 as moving to tier 1 is not to be taken lightly, but I don't think that is out of possibility. This definetely jumps him multiple tiers from the Sliverball list that currently represents him though.

Xiahou Dun, is an interesting twist on the mono black storm decks. One combo I like in it in particular is Reanimate, Aetherflux Reservoir, Xiahou, and Carnival of Souls. You go down about 10 life, then go back up from aetherflux to have a compact infinite storm package. Xiahou has a lot of other little tricks with him and seems like a good mono black storm deck. I think he probably needs tier 2.5 and waiting to be tested more. I have actually seen him run a few times in games from the reddit cedh discord and he can hold his own against midlevel pods.

The Nekusar deck is a traditional Grixis storm deck, which is obviously good, it brings in ways to give nekusar infect while you draw cards in the storm for one of many wincons. He probably just needs moved up to tier 2, whether it be that deck or quite a few other good storm decks i have seen with him. An underated commander that needs moved.

Nazahn is doing the brostorm paradox engine with dorks thing to drop most of the deck. He is also Skullclamp on a stick. Despite all this, I am still unsure what tier he would be or if the elfball finish versus something else with skullclamp is better. I would say tier 2.5 might be pushing it right now for him, but I would have to see the deck run.

When do you think it's decided if the submitted lists will replace the current decks? I haven't followed this thread ling enough to witness much change in the decks and tiers...

I know it's generally frowned upon to post one's own deck, but I have playtested my Mayael the Anima deck a lot and feel like it could qualify for a spot on the list. I'm not arguing her place in the tier, but there is no list for her and if you guys think it's good enough, I think it could serve as a good version for the tier list:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/04-04-17-mayael-the-anima/

If not, and you guys think it's seriously deficient in some way, that would be cool to know as well.

I'm firstly going to state I don't have or will have a deck for the new commander 2017 commanders but what I'd like the author of the page to consider is a stream by TheLabratoryManiacs and a video on youtube by Tolain Community College where they dive into the new commander "Inalla" where the combo they list and all cards mentioned are of competitive nature and just wanted to point this out and see if her rank 2.5 is the proper ranking she belongs to.
