When will the Ixalan legends be added?

Isn't Tishana, Voice of Thunder the only one that has any potential in cEDH? She is probably equal to Zegana in most ways.

I would recommend bringing Melira, Sylvok Outcast up to at least Tier 3 if not 2.5.I have a highly successful and resilient Melira deckles that wins average turn 5 85% of my games with her.

Check it out and see if you think she could make the cut. :)

Yawgmothlives: I could see Melira potentially moving up to Tier 3, however I would challenge 2.5. Looking at your list, you have a lot of high costed cards with a disproportionately low amount of ramp to back it up.

The other issue is that your primary win condition relies on comboing with an artifact. The problem is that you have no tutorable way of getting to it. While the deck does have some decent card advantage, a lot of it relies on creature loops however with a lot of your creatures being quite expensive to cast, this in turns slows the deck down.

While green has very little in the way of tutoring artifacts, you still have options like Inventors' Fair, a lnd which green is good at tutoring. You also have cards like Kuldotha Forgemaster which would allow you to deploy your Blasting Station.

As a Saffi Eriksdotter palyer, I have had to deal with a lot of the same kind of issues that your deck comes across (though having access to white has somewhat alleviated that) so I know the pain. But there are some things that you can do which I think would help streamline the deck.

enpc Actually the main combo is getting Aerie Ouphes or Woodfall Primus + sac outlet

Usually Aerie Ouphes with any of the draw card, etb, or death trigger cards is enough to go infinite or win

A secondary combo is Cauldron of Souls + Dross Scorpion + sac outlet

But again like I said Aerie Ouphes is usually the winning card. That being said yes it can be foiled by the proper exile but that's what the anti-blue/can't do anything on my turn cards are for. Also Ulamog is there for the sole sake of defending against Mill strategies. It doesn't hurt that he's a heavy hitter if all else fails as well.Anyway take a look again at the deck and see how you feel about it.I appreciate you thinking she can be bumped to Tier 2.5-3 though! Thank you!

Yawgmothlives: I get that Aerie Ouphes forms part of the loop, but the other part is the sac outlet. Because your deck is mono green, this is guaranteed to be either an artifact or an enchantment, neither of which you can tutor for. That's where the problem lies.

Yawgmothlives says... #10

enpc Actually not at all! Aerie Ouphes can sacrifice itself. It doesn't need to have a target to sacrifice since the cost is to sacrifice it. Upon resolution if there is not flying creatures in play the effect fizzles. Funny enough with just Melira and Aerie Ouphes alone I clear all flyers. With any Etb card, die triggers, or sac outlet I can go infinite from there.

Now getting Aerie Ouphes is no issue since I have plenty of creature tutors.

To activate an ability, you must have a legal target. The cost is irrelevant - if you can't declare a target for the ability then the game reverts to just before you activate the ability.

Yawgmothlives says... #12

enpc hmm from what I was told the ability is just counteredYou activate the ability, there are no legal targets, the ability is countered.

and from rule 608.2b, as part of resolving a spell or ability,

If the spell or ability specifies targets, it checks whether the targets are still legal... Other changes to the game state may cause a target to no longer be legal. The spell or ability is countered if all its targets, for every instance of the word "target," are now illegal... if any of its targets are illegal, the part of the spell or ability's effect for which it is an illegal target can't perform any actions on that target or make that target perform any actions.

What that is referring to is the resolution of the ability. When you activate the ability it goes on the stack and checks just before it resolves, however you have to still have a legal target to put hte ability on the stack in the first place.

The reason for the check is that due to the nature of having a stack, something could happen to the target of the ability between activating it and the ability resolving. For example, say you had Melira, Sylvok Outcast, Aerie Ouphes and Garruk's Packleader all in play and your opponent had a Birds of Paradise.

In this scenario, you could sac the ouphe, targetting the BoP. In response, the persist trigger would go on the stack and would return the Ouphe with no coutners on it thanks to Melira. Then the packleader draw trigger would go on the stack. You could let that resolve and draw a card, and then in response to the Ouphe trigger that's still on the stack repeat this process to draw your deck, however it's very situational. But once the stack of Ouphe triggersattempts to resolve, he first one will as the BoP is on the battlefiedl, however once the next one (and all the ones after it) try to resolve, as the BoP is already dead they will fizzle. And you can't activate the loop again until you have another legal target.

enpc is correct. I'm not gonna copy paste the ruling cause it's a long one but essentially abilities follow the same rules as spells. (Rule 602.2b)

Spells require legal targets to even be put on the stack. (Rule 601.2c then 601.2e after the game realizes there are no legal targets)

October 9, 2017 8:24 a.m.

I guess this is good practice for the l1 test that im taking eventually.

602.2b The remainder of the process for activating an ability is identical to the process for casting a spell listed in rules 601.2bi. Those rules apply to activating an ability just as they apply to casting a spell. An activated abilitys analog to a spells mana cost (as referenced in rule 601.2f) is its activation cost.

the steps to casting a spell have you declare targets for the spell way before paying any costs associated with them. That's why kira is so good with lorthos.

for reference the steps to casting a spell are:

Step 1 Announce and Place the Spell onto the StackStep 2 Choose Modes.Step 3 Choose TargetsStep 4 How to Divide EffectsStep 5 figure out Total CostsStep 6 Activate Mana AbilitiesStep 7 Pay all Costs.

Once again Id like to submit a deck for the banned emrakul, Yes i know emmy is banned. Not sure how to do all the fancy stuff you all do as for drop down lists and stuff but I think the deck is worthy of tier 3 like kozilek

I'm suggesting a replacement of the current deck for Sliver Queen because it's outdated (pre hulk unbanning) and doesn't even have a single way of using the commander as a mana sink, not even as a backup plan.

I'm torn between mana echoes and Worldgorger combo (main win option is flash hulk or birthing pod combo) but for now I have the dragon as a plan B because the reanimate enchantments are already there.

I would say the deck is optimized now, consistently tries to win on turns 2-4 often with protection or backup. I've played it quite a lot both in real life and online

No, as in, why is it not tier 5?

Athraithe says... #22

as ive seen it, tier 5 means "utter worthlessness" as a commander. Hope at least can shut down a player for a turn in cedh since most spells cast are non-creature. plus his low cmc makes him easily recastable. hes much better for 1v1 matchups, but isnt completely worthless in multiplayer

Kinda feel like Tajic should be in tier 4 rather than 5. When built into a deck revolving around additional combat phases,it kills in two-three phases.
