Because the ability doesn't pull from specifically exile you can put it in the command zone and its ability will take it from there back onto the battlefield, see the ruling on banishing light type effects

- It screws over fetches but beyond that, it does not accomplish much. At least it makes lands etb untapped.
- 100% will see cEDH play in colorless decks. #Gigi's Card
- This card is just awesome. Grenzo can grab a counterspell, Blood Pod can grab a counterspell, Daretti can grab a counterspell; the possibilities are endless!
- Interesting effect, but it isn't a Notion Thief, which can actually swing games at 4 mana and is abusable with wheels. Good meta card, though.
- Another interesting effect, but it gives too much agency to your opponents.
- Lol WHAT!? I'm just in awe with this card. Tier 3 minimum. Maybe it could go into a similar shell as Marath.

- Has the same problem as Diabolic Tutor, but running it would be so fun.

Zacama could be used as a food chain commander, immediately netting large amounts of mana (especially with Panharmonicon)
Any thoughts about the Azor land?

Zacama can also work with Cloudstone Curio and mana doubling, nothing competitive worthy, but a bit funny

@zacama
If only karakas were unbanned... I hear there's a banlist declaration soon so maaaaaaaybe?
(Crosses fingers, knowing it'll never happen)

- I am genuinely curious what non-Azusa decks can run this successfully. It's an Exploration that can be fetched of GSZ. I really wanting to put this into Gitrog, but at 3 mana its too slow

@merrowMania Wayward Swordtooth might find its way into more tier 3/pubstomp builds of Animar, but I don't think that there is anything it could offer a tournament competitive build that a 1 drop mana dork can't do quicker. Maybe in a Meren STAX build that runs Smokestack and Crucible of Worlds?

Ahahahahaha Gigi card nice one merrowMania ;)
I am also gonna try Azors Gateway, with all the untap shenanigans it could easily flip in a turn cycle, while letting me dig through my deck and get rid of useless cards from hands. Once it flips, I get so much mana it is ridiculous. I could afford to exile every non combo card, and if it eats removal, then that removal will not have been targeted at your other important pieces. Could be really good IMO.

I haven't been here in a while and I see we still have unranked commanders. Should I start working on an update?
January 5, 2018 2:45 a.m.
I use your list all the time, so i would love an update :)
January 5, 2018 3:43 a.m.
Ok, Minor Update:
- Added Unstable Legends and the missing Jalum Grifter to Tier Insanity.
- Ranked unranked Ixalan commanders as follows:
- Admiral Beckett Brass - T4 - (As much as I'd like to rank her higher, pirates have not materialized as an EDH viable tribe, and the steal effect isn't good enough to really justify running them.)
- Captain Lannery Storm - T5
- Gishath, Sun's Avatar - T4 - This is being kept out of T5 mostly because it has haste, but a little bit because you could probably use him to set up the Changeling Champion combo using Congregation at Dawn or Goblin Recruiter.
- Kopala, Warden of Waves - T4
- Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle - T5
- Tishana, Voice of Thunder - T2.5 - Tentatively putting her here because of similarities to Prime Speaker Zegana. Did anyone think up any combos or lines of play with her yet?
- Vona, Butcher of Magan - T3 - Can go in T3 if just for the board control.
- I've also made tentative placements for the Rivals of Ixalan commanders:
- Azor, the Lawbringer - T3 - There's been mentions higher up about how this guy is pretty good. I'd like to point out that his ETB doesn't stop your opponents from using instants after their turn is over, so there's nothing to stop them from waiting until the next player's upkeep to cast Swords if they want him gone.
- Elenda, the Dusk Rose - T3 - She goes infinite with Nim Deathmantle and Ashnod's Altar / Phyrexian Altar / a bunch of other cards.
- Etali, Primal Storm - T3 - This one is my favorite too. There's not much to build into since you're mostly going to be playing your opponent's deck and there's not much top card manipulation in Red, but it sure as shit looks fun.
- Ghalta, Primal Hunger - T4 - You can ramp with it using Food Chain, but you can't tutor it in mono-green and it just a dumb beater otherwise.
- Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca - T3 - You're not going to be able to do much outside of Merfolk tribal, but Merfolk are a decent tribe and her has a built in CA ability.
- Nezahal, Primal Tide - T3 - Personally, I kinda want to put this in T4 because of the mana cost, but as people have pointed out, the CA is pretty strong. Will probably just be a way for a typically blue control deck to refill their hand mid game.
- Tetzimoc, Primal Death - T5
- Zacama, Primal Calamity - T3 - I almost put it in T4 because of that mana cost, but I see what people are talking about in terms of Food Chain and blinking. There could be some combo potential here if the deck can ramp hard enough to satisfy his cost. Plus it helps that it can actually tutor FC and other combo pieces, unlike Ghalta.
- Zetalpa, Primal Dawn - T5
(Let me know if you feel I've ranked any of these guys wrong or against the running consensus.)
kyuuri117, Ummm... Hey there.
I sort of have a confession to make. I moved Prossh down to T1.5 when it was first discussed like six months ago.
Unfortunately, I accidentally only made the change on my private copy of this list that I use to test my updates, and I somehow never carried over the change to main list.
I remember logging on for a quick glance at the discussion like two weeks later and being very confused about why people were still arguing about Prossh since I thought I changed it.
Anyway, I just moved him down to T1.5. Sorry I made you argue your case three times...
(Also, wasn't there talk in that same discussion about moving Atraxa, Praetors' Voice down? I thought I did that too...)

- Another card to add to the arsenal. Into the Roil is still the best, though.
- Insert meme about Edric. Unfortunately, the creature types are not relevant. Even Triton Shorestalker is a Rogue for Notorious Throng.
ALSO, OH MY GOD THE PRINTED BRAINSTORM IN STANDARD!!!
P.S. - Congrats on the name bling, sonnet666!

- As it has been OFFICIALLY spoiled, we can talk about it. I like that it costs one mana to sac and has a good body, but I can't help but compare it to Rec Sage and Caustic Caterpillar. It's basically a cross between them. More testing needed, but I do not believe this will be a staple, just an option.

It hurts me to see, Gishath, Sun's Avatar in T4, I get that his build is limited and has to be build around dino tribal, but is that a bad thing. His mana cost draws him down, but once he is down he can make a lot of work, and with all the new dino support especially with enrage in ROI i think it could be T3, also since some of the commanders in T3 seems weaker to me, well at least Gishath is still the best dino tribal commander :)
I do think Oloro, Ageless Ascetic and Krenko, Mob Boss could be moved up from T3 to T2.5, Krenko has the possibility of making an insane amount of infinite combos, and i have seen some Oloro pillow fort builds that are almost impossible to stop or get through and then they drain all your life or win with their life total.
I Do see Ghalta, Primal Hunger as another T5, i would like it to be higher, but as you say, it is just a dumb beater, and with the amount of removal in commander, he wont stand a chance, especially since he does not have haste.
Zacama, Primal Calamity ability does not trigger on blinking, only casting. Food Chain would make this deck insane, as all other food chain decks. I do think his 3 abilities weigh up as they are extremely good utility,
On all other points i completely agree with you, thank you so much for the update, have been looking forward to it for a while :)

Gishath is definitely tier 3 worthy. They have printed a large number of semi decent dinos in this set and the ability cheats them into play. In a blue heavy meta, having a bunch of big dumb beaters you dont have to cast seems good enough for me.
January 5, 2018 3:05 p.m.
Here's every Dinosaur playable in Gishath.
- They're skewed heavily toward high mana costs, likely to be stuck in your hand.
- Gishath doesn't put them into play attacking, so you miss out on attack triggers for the turn.
- Only 7 have ETB effects that work with Gishath, and they're not very good.
- I only count 9 with commander playable effects.
- Enrage is never going to trigger.
I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced that tribal Dinosaurs is a T3 strategy at this point.
The Champion Changeling combo might have more potential. Does anyone remember how that goes? I read it a long time ago. It's something about getting Changeling Berserker, Changeling Hero, and Changeling Titan to exile each other endlessly and then you chain that into a win somehow... I know there's a version that involves Worldgorger too, but that wouldn't work here.

The only other thing we would need is some way to deal damage to player on ETB of a creature... I mean, we are in the right colors for a Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors...? Could that be the thing to do? Or can you think of something better?

Hey sonnet666, I posted this a few days ago, but I was wondering if this Nahiri, the Lithomancer stax list would bump her up to T3: Nahiri Stax
She's a good token generator to break parity with the stax strategies included in the list and has done pretty well in testing. Obviously, will never be T1 with mono-white, but I think this list pushes her up to T3. What are your thoughts? Certainly interested if you have any feedback or suggestions for the deck if you feel otherwise.

Nahiri's primary contribution to stax is her free token generation. This allows the deck to abuse other powerful stax effects such as Possessed Portal. This is a more minor point, but since Skullclamp acts as one of the card advantage engines of the deck, her +2 also allows the tokens to get clamped for free.
Her -2 ability is rarely used, but can be useful in a pinch if Skullclamp is destroyed.
Her ult acts as a finisher, though certainly isn't necessary and doesn't need to go off.

If I must make dino tribal a thing (as in not absolute trash), then I will. I dont think it will be difficult to get to tier 3, as tier 3 has some hot flaming garbage in it, but perhaps I am underestimating how uttery rubbish Dinos are. The key to any deck like this is not paying the mana costs and controlling the topdeck. Fortunately Gishash has somewhat decent tools at its disposal in these regards. The other thing to keep in mind this kind of deck is designed for a specific meta. One that Trice is currently mired in, which has a higher than what is reasonable number of control decks that lack many answers to big dumb fatties (Baral & Rashmi). It will be an interesting delve into jank. Thank you sonnet666 looking up all those Dinos for me :-)
